** ok I posted this yesterday but for some reason it did not show up...so here it is again...**
Got back from my first trip to WDW since January 2004 and my first trip that included pin trading since October 2002! (where does the time go? ack!)
Since i have been "out of the loop" for so long I did not have high expectations and was just out and about for the pure pleasure of it. My initial reaction was that 99% of the CM lanyards had the same exact pins on them (mostly the pins that come in the lanyard/trading sets you can buy in the giftshop). Since I havent purchased or traded pins in years, some of these were cute to me so I traded for the Lilo and Stitch set. I had a nice mix of older WDW and DL pins and some Diseny store pins as well to use as traders which was probably a relief to some CM's to see something different! I was nice and threw in some LE's along the way as well. didnt see a single lanyard series pin until monday night when we had PS at Jiko. The CM lanyards in the AKL giftshop had a bunch. I was nice and only traded for 2 (plus Jeff was dragging me out of there to eat!! LOL!). With a 2 year old it was hard to stick to any scheudle--so while I really wanted to get to Scoops pin talk, we ende dup at Exposition hall around 2:00 one day just while it was finishing up. bummer.
I did find a LE 2500 Disney Auctions Sully in the gift shop at the International gateway at EPCOT and a few other cute pins. my only purchases were the Disney Visa pin, a few of the DVC exclusives and the Flower and Garden tink. The woman that cleans my house has a 9 year old little girl who is getting into pin trading so I will have some for her the next time we are scheduled for a cleaning. She will be excited as they just got back from WDW as well (I gave her a fewbefroe they went to get her started. I heard later that she didnt want to trade any of the ones I gave her becuase she liked them too much. I thought that was so cute).
Nothing that overly excited me until I hit the motherload on Tuesday night with a set of Who Wants to be a Millionaire pins!! Yes---I finally MADE IT INTO THE HOTSEAT!!!! I almost had a heart attack. I felt like one of those women on the Price is Right as I jumped out of my seat with a SCREAM and went running down! LOL! I was able to get to the 16,000 pt question without using a lifeline but then got stuck on a sporst/NBA question where I had to use all 3 (and then guessed correctly). I could only imagine Jeff sitting there laughing hysterically thinking there is NO WAY she knows the answer to this... I blew the 32,000 pt question since it was a total guess so my haul was the hat and pins to 1,000 pts. I still cant believe it. It was so much fun. I know I will be back, but that first set of pins will get framed for sure!
