Well I am just getting over our recent trip to Disney 2-16 May.
We originally booked our flights and car with TCD before they went bust.
So although we thought about cancelling our trip, we decided to check out the prices with other operators and got a very good price with Virgin Atlantic as long as you pay the cash up front. So we booked the flights and started looking for a villa for 9 people. Last year we stayed at Windsor Hills in a 5 bedroom villa, but we decided to go for a 6 bedroom villa so my son could have his own room and give us some privacy. I looked into this and booked a villa at Emerald Island. Having never stayed here before and especially having a great villa last year I was slightly worried.
Anyway time gets on hassles with ticket prices etc going up, not to mention the swine flu episode when the mother in law panicked the world was going to end. But some how we ended up having an ok flight out, even though it was just short of 9 hours. There was enough of us to pass around my 20 month old son to keep him happy for most of the journey. We had two young girls about 13 and 15 in front of us who had their seats back all the way. I am 6ft 3 and do not have much room at the best of times, but with a child as well I had even less. They kept their seats back even through the meals. So meal times was fun, just before landing my son did kick out a couple of times at the chair in front but we quickly stopped this even though we had no room. But the girls thought it was funny to keep banging the seats back quite hard. I was not happy but put up with it. Then they did it to hard and I had to ask them to stop banging the seats back as we had very little room as it was, they just laughed at my comment and their mother just sat in her seat and said nothing.
Anyway, it is just a flight and would not spoil anything for my holiday.
Orlando airport is much more hard work than Sanford to get your cases, then your cases again and then your car. But then the journey is much closer to the 192.
The villa at Emerald Island was excellent. It was a very good location for the parks. It was also a good location for my mother 4 trips to Walmart. Why I will never know?
The weather in the first week was excellent, if anything it was to warm. The second week was a bit cooler but still warm. We had a couple of electrical storms which was quite good while watching Spectromagic, as it did not rain.
We had one night slightly spoiled by rain at Epcot, but we ate at Le Cellier and then watched illuminations then home.
Some great meals at
Black Angus & TGI Fridays on the 192.
A great Takeaway Pizza at the Pizza Hut which was made even better as when we were waiting for our Pizza, Peter Kay walked in with two of his friends. I am a big Peter Kay fan but remained calm. We did chat with him for 15 mins, but I did make a point of NOT asking him for his autograph as he was on holiday with this friends and family. He shook my hand when I left saying it had been a pleasure meeting me.
I haven’t washed since….
My favourite meal was at Crystal Palace Lunch….Emma Bunton was sat at the side of us, I was not celebrity spotting honest.
Favourite ride as always was Rock N Roller Coaster, followed closely by Tower of Tower. Went on the Simpsons ride which was ok, but not in the same class as Soarin’.
Loved the Move it Shake it Celebrate it. Enjoyed the new 3pm parade. Thought the music was much more catchy. I think they have increased the number of characters as well recently.
Fantasmic was busy, but very good. Spectromagic was again very busy but good.
Wishes, well it is worth every penny just for these fireworks. I am ok, till the end bit when they sing Starlight, Starbright….Then for me it is tears and more tears.
So all in all, another great vacation and let the planning start for next year.
I will add some photos when I get the chance.
Cheers
Neil
