Great choice!! Check out this link for x-mas photos of CSR!! http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=14470864&postcount=1I was wondering about the same thing as far as room location. We booked CSR over all the other moderates (based in no small part becuase of the comments of Buzz and his better half on another thread) for December 13-18. This is our first trip in a very long time away from Pop Century where we have only ever stayed in one of two rooms - we have always been very lucky about having our room request honored exactly.
We have to be away from noise or DH will not be able to sleep at all, but still do not want to walk a mile for food or to the bus.
I still have to research the layout. As of this moment I am clueless. Any pros and cons of different locations would be great.
I have stayed at CSR 10 times. Only once was I woken up due to noise. One of the conventions paid for a private fireworks show right over the front lake at CSR. It was loud but very beautiful to watch from our room. Other than that I think you will find most say that CSR is a quiet, peaceful resort. Getting a bad neighbor can happen but that could happen at any resort.
Each section of the resort has it's own bus stop so all sections are close to one of them.
Here are some good building choices.
Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. (Most convenient location and most preferred)
Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)
Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool (and is the old smoking optional building).
Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.
Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.
Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.
Make your room request as soon as you make your reservation. It’s never too early. http://allearsnet.com/acc/cro1.htm
There will be some walking involved at CSR but not as bad as some make it out to be. The distance around the whole lake is just under a mile (.97 miles).
Walking Distances
From El Centro moving clockwise around the lake path to:
Casitas 3 = .16 miles
Casitas 4 = .24 miles
Casitas 5 = .27 miles
Ranchos = .46 miles
From El Centro to the Dig Site, via the bridge near the Cabanas
= .35 miles
From El Centro moving counterclockwise around the lake to:
Cabanas 9B = .16 miles
Cabanas 9A/8B = .22 miles
Cabanas 8A = .31 miles
