Back from a week at CBR!

Just returned on July 4th from a week at CBR. The resort is still our favorite. So peaceful and relaxing....
We did have a problem with the room they initially tried to put us in. The room (in Aruba 54) had an intense smell of mold. It only a took a few minutes before we realized we could NOT stay in it. My adult daughter has allergies and asthma and could never had made it in that room. We called the front desk immediately and they switched our room and even upgraded us to a waterview!! The location was amazing, but honestly, there were times when even that room had a moldy smell. This is something that CBR really needs to address.
Both the Jamaica and Aruba buildings were sold out to Brazilian Tour Groups and we ended up in the midst of it but never had a problem. Our first day the Quiet Pool at Aruba was out of control but after that we only saw the large groups coming and going....they were never disruptive and didn't disturb us at all. That's one of the best parts of CBR....there's so much room there that you never feel like it's cramped or crowded.
The food court ran out of ice several times during our stay, which was a little annoying....but it was always clean!
My daughter lost the screw out of her glasses and we went to the gift shop to see if they sold the little kits....they do not, but 2 CMs (Tabatha and Khristina) found a repair kit and worked so hard to repair the glasses....they were amazing!!!
I'm always surprised that CBR does so poorly in the polls here on the DIS boards.......we think it's the best resort of all the moderates and this trip was no different for us!!!

Thanks for the review! This is the only mod we've never tried, and frankly, because it always gets poor reviews. So I'm glad to see yours! I was thinking of adding a day or switching our last 2 days from BWI to CBR in August, just to save some $$. DH is leaving the trip early for work, so DSs & I would do just fine at CBR. I think the place sounds lovely!

We stayed at CBR in December and it was great! I would def suggest the preferred but it was a nice resort. We always stay WL but wanted to save some $$ so CBR it was. I'm surprised it is so hated...it really is nice!

We would like to try CBR one day.
I thought we should pay for a preferred location to be closer to the food court and bus.

Is a preferred location worth the extra cost?
We do not need a water view - especially if it is quiet pool open 24/7.

Glad you had a nice stay. CBR was the first wdw resort we stayed at, in Jamaica, and enjoyed it. But POR has become our fav.
I'm surprised to hear there were that many tour groups at this time of year. I thought they mainly were in January
