Hi all!
I don't post much - I really only came here for research, so I thought it was important for me to be honest about how things really went during out stay for our DFTW.
The wedding itself was amazing - the floral the room, the food, the detail were impeccable. The planners were top notch and have this down to a T. We had the most wonderful, warm , sentimental ceremony I could have asked for. The lighting was perfect, the feeling was great, it went off without a hitch! The best part was when my now husband suprised me with the coach after our staged exit. What a thrill!!
The night went almost perfectly except from some snags with the grooms mens tuxes ( wrong sizes were delivered from After Hours) Be very careful with After Hours, all the tuxes were wrong, and my husband felt like an idiot dressed in a tux that was 2 sizes too big! With help of our planner and a dozen pins, he looked great. Of course no one picked up the phone when he or our wedding planner called for some help. Noone from that company was reachable on a Saturday. They were fitted for 7 tuxes from After Hours here in NJ, there was over a dozen wrong fitting issues with them. A dozen! Not so good! After looking at the sizeing, the problems occured down in Fla., it seems the wrong sizes were pulled and shipped. Horrible experience with them. Beware.
The food blew me away our guests were just amazed. The cake was to DIE for, I cant wait to post a pic, DFTW went far above and beyond to make a vision come true, they hit the mark right on the bullseye!
Then the last dance was played.. and it was time to go home. We noticed our camera was not on our sweetheart table anymore. It was there during the cake cutting, and gone after. I was a mess. It was a brand new camera, and I have to be honest, we felt like no one really cared. We were told a family member took it, we were told we lost it, we were told it would show up. All of my pictures were gone from the week. All of them, all the wonderful memories we created with family that lives half way around the world. Our gut feeling after checking with out guests is that a GF staff member took it off our table. We were on a riser, and the only people up there were me my husband and the servers. Alas, no camera, no one cares
I feel so bad saying all this and accusing people, but it was best friends and close family and not one of our guests would have taken it, plus we checked everyone on our buses for it.
Who knows what happened, what I do know, is we were told 'lost and found forms' were filled out, and that is all they can do. With the amount we paid for the wedding I am saddened by this. We thought we would be taken care of - or at least compensated in some way. All those pictures lost, Hoop dee Doo review - rehearsal dinner at Italy Isola, Animal Kingdom with 16 family members, all wearing the Tshirts I made for them. The wedding was great, we are SO very happy in our lives, but I feel a bit slighted by the place I trusted the most above all else, the magical dream was being shattered.
It came to a crushing halt when the day before we were to leave, housekeeping threw out/lost the most precious item to me. A blanket my mother had knitted for me when I was born. It was my something old I brought, and it had been fine in the room for 5 nights! It was always laid neatly on top of a pile or a pillow. Yet, this day, it was gone, we tore the room apart, we begged and pleaded with the staff. We received the same lost and found form and a sad face, yet no blanket, no camera no comfort.
I feel like my life with my DH is the best I could have asked for, and I feel bad complaining to you all, but I dont want anyone thinking that their belongings are safe (even the non valuable ones) just because it was Disney. My aunt took off a pair of shoes to dance, she came back and they were gone.
I am surprised that we were not offered anything for the items that were lost/misplaced/stolen. Disney did not do a thing for our troubles. Which just makes me so so sad, I held them in the highest regard.
I know some of you are going to get your backs up reading this, as I would have if someone was bashing Disney before all this happened to me. Yet now, I feel that its only fair for me to be honest and say what I feel in my heart, since it was a bit broken. I felt like I was being ignored- everything is great, until something goes wrong
I bought myself a new camera today, I just couldnt stand it! I cant replace the blanket from my mother, I am just keeping my fingers crossed that Disney will redeem itself in my eyes. Maybe a magical package will show up with the camera wrapped in the blanket??!??
I wish all of you who are yet to go and experience your DFTW good luck, you wont be dissapointed! The night was a magical affair! Just dont put your trust in them the way we did.
Pics and stories to come!
