Back 2 Back Magical Adventures on DCL-Completed

Becky,
Wow looks like you had a beautiful day on Castaway Cay.......I am still dreaming of that myself.
I have always wanted to try parasailing...maybe next cruise.
It's funny I was reading another trip report & saw you & your brother in one of the pictures. I was like I know them. :lmao:

I am so sorry that you missed Castaway Cay on your trip. Just an excuse for another trip.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

It was a nice day but by later in the day, it was thundering, lightning and apparently pouring on the other side of the island. We could just see and hear the crappy weather but it wasn't raining at Serenity Bay.:thumbsup2 Let's just say there was plenty of sun, more about that later.

Awesome parasailing pics Becky! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I've never seen any with the bird's eye view. Fabulous! :goodvibes

It was such an awesome experience. :cloud9: I saw a video where someone who took a video camera up with them and also had video from the boat and they edited it together. This was what kind of prompted the decision to take a camera, it was my old digital camera which the lens didn't close properly anymore anyways, I also had one of those cheap waterproof bags for it as well, just in case I was totally dunked, but just my toes were.

As my harness and PFD was getting adjusted one of the operators was asking me questions. I thought he asked me what was in the pouch on my neck, so I answered a camera. Well he actually asked me what my name was. I was thinking they weren't going to let me take the camera so I was really conscious about it because they made us leave our shoes on the deck, we had to take hats, glasses off and made us stow our items as soon as we got on. We had a laugh about my name being camera. They had no problem with me taking the camera, I did put the strap over my neck and clipped it into my PFD so it wouldn't fly up. I don't think it would have because it was very smooth.

I would have felt the same way. Do you know why they made you leave your shoes on shore? I can see other items such as sunglasses, hats, etc but shoes?! :confused3

We were walking around while the boat was speeding around while someone was in the air and you have more stability on your feet without the shoes on. Don't have to worry about people slipping in their non-skid resistant shoes if the floor is wet or the boat shifts quick due to the waves. Often times in boats people don't wear shoes, pirates for the most part went barefoot. I think we left them on the shore so they did not get in the way because there was not much extra space on the small boat. Although I recommend flipping them sole side up so they don't get hot.

So after parasailing we headed towards Serenity Bay.

Some escaped tubes or maybe they store them there

We continued a bit more and decided to stop at Cookies BBQ for lunch
DSC00491.jpg

We had never eaten here, last time we ate at Serenity Bay. There were lines for the buffet lines on the front, but off to the right hand side of the building there were 2-3 other foods lines with no wait

Corn on the cob, I think Mahi Mahi Sandwich, tomato salad and cous cous

Yummy fruit and a chocolate chip cookie
DSC00495.jpg

what could be better then that? Cookie dough soft serve ice cream. Did I have any with my lunch nope

I could eat this stuff for lunch everyday and be a happy camper:cloud9:

Before we knew it we were there
DSC00514.jpg

DSC00515.jpg

That's it for tonight I need to head to bed. Have a great night.

So we are finally at Serenity Bay. Despite the fact that no Upgrades are available because Mickey's ship is full Serenity Bay is not that crowded.

DSC00516.jpg

I put sunscreen on and then went snorkeling for many, many hours. I do not have any underwater pictures I forgot my underwater camera so I have no pictures. I saw some sea stars, conch, lots of fish, stingrays, barracuda, zebra mussels, and other things I wasn't sure what they were.

I was snorkeling so long that by the time I go out and wanted to go get cookie dough ice cream, it was already cleaned up.

DSC00520.jpg

Do I have to walk back to the ship already??
DSC00518.jpg

DSC00523.jpg

Since I couldn't get ice cream I tried to get in a hammock
DSC00525.jpg

Instead of enjoying the hammock, I should have headed to find ice cream at Cookie's BBQ.

Runway back to the family beach, notice the dark storm clouds. We heard the thunder and saw the clouds but it was nice and sunny at Serenity Bay the whole time we were there

There was no ice cream at Cookies BBQ anymore either, well they were emptying it when I got there and wouldn't give me any. Good thing I have another week, as you can only get cookie dough ice cream on Castaway Cay anymore.

Becky,

Been lurking and so enjoying your trip report so far! Also envious that you could do two whole weeks on the Magic with your brother - you two look so close. I'm getting ready to do our first cruise (Eastern) next spring. Your report makes it so fun to look forward to, and I love all the photos! Just wanted to say thanks, and I'm glad to see siblings have so much fun together!

Thank you, others were supposed to go and had to cancel. We were the only two who could still go, so we went. We had a good time, but at times drove each other nuts.

loving the report, I'm gonna try to do two a back-to-back cruise in 2009, unless they have longer special cruises in 2009, then I'lll just do a eastern since I have done I western, actually western and a double dip western, but I want to go back to key west so I'd try to do a regular western again if I could

After getting back on the Wonder I got a shower and changed. At this point I realized the back of my upper legs were pink. I guess I should have put more sunscreen on or left my shorts on while snorkeling.

I relaxed a bit and then headed to the Til We Meet Again show.

Jeremy is back and upset that he has to get off tomorrow

Since I wasn't getting off the ship yet I didn't need to worry about packing everything and having it out in the hallway to be taken away for disembarkation. I relaxed a bit.

Eventually we made our way down to the main atrium for the Til We Meet again celebration. This is the last chance to see the characters before the cruise ends. If happens the last full day of the cruise around 10:15pm at night. They start out with all the characters coming down the stairs and then disbursing to the main atrium 3rd and 4th floors for pictures and the last chance to say goodbye to them.

DSC00694.jpg

DSC00698.jpg

DSC00697.jpg

Well the characters just came out and went to their places and I felt really sick all of a sudden. I passed off the camera to Stephen and told him I was heading back to the room because I didn't feel well. Since characters and everyone was in the main elevators I headed to the aft elevations, as I didn't think I could make it up the stairs. I get in the elevator and feel really nauseous.

I make it out of the elevator and into the room. I get a drink from our cooler and head to bed and watch some of Shrek the 3rd. I feel better in about 30 minutes and don't have another similar problem. I have no idea why I felt sick so suddenly, but was glad that it passed quickly.

Some pictures after I left.

I ended up heading upstairs and got a drink and a walk because I felt better. Then I headed back to bed.

We wanted to do the Med cruises, but did not. We booked both of the cruises because we thought we could cancel one, we ended up not canceling either.

I would love to drive through the Keys to get to Key West. I was supposed to do this more then once when I lived in Florida and every time something prevented it from happening. I was fearful I wouldn't make it to Key West on my cruise, but I did.:cloud9:

So we got up this morning and headed to breakfast in Parrot Cay. For the last morning you have a set time and place to eat breakfast, according to the place you had your last night's dinner. If you would like you could also get breakfast at Topsiders. Everybody had to bring their carry on luggage with them, we didn't take much, as we could leave our stuff on the ship.

We had breakfast with Pat and Linda. We had tried to convince Heather and Elizabeth to come to breakfast but they wanted to hit the road so they didn't come. But no one could get off the ship until 8:30am as it took longer to clear customs. They easily could have ate breakfast with us because they couldn't get off the ship anyways.

After our breakfast we headed back to the room, we spent some more time there gathering stuff for when we have to get off the ship. We had to be out by 9am. We went out and wondered for a bit and saw Barecuda Ann and her DH Howard they said their laundry was currently washing. We were going to wash our stuff right after we got back on the ship. We head downstairs to the third floor and head off the ship. We talk to one of the guys and we then turn around and head back onto the ship He said we could head back on for a bit.

We decided we wanted to put our laundry in before we get off, so all we have to do is dry it once we are back on. Well we go back up to the 7th floor to get into our room and try to get in the room and they have locked the doors. We found out they change the locks at 9am. So we head back down to the 3rd floor and head off the ship a second time for the day. They try to direct us to the customs area and we show them our letter. We are told to head up the elevator and into the main terminal. Although it would have been nice to remain on the ship, we were in a basically empty terminal. The cast members were probably still in meetings. Just me, Stephen, Ann and Howard. We got to really explore and enjoy all the details that so many people miss when the terminal is crowded. It is truly a beautiful and detailed place.

One of the cast members took time to explain all the details but I don't remember what everything stands for.

DSC00786.jpg

My first week on the Magic was officially over, we said good bye to our new friends and wished them safe trips home. But for us it was another week on the Magic.

That's all for tonight. Will we or will we not be allowed back on the ship before everyone else??:confused3 :confused3 That is the question and it will be answered in the next installment.:thumbsup2

Have a great night and week. Hope you all are staying safe in the crappy weather.

So our letter stated that we should be able to get back on the ship at 10am, so we head over to the desk and they tell us they are not ready yet. So we go back and sit down for a bit. At some point while we were in the terminal I pulled out my laptop and did a few things. Eventually they tell us we can come over and check in.

We had already filled all the paperwork out online before we left for our trip. The cast member quickly processes our paperwork and hands us keys. We inquire about our lanyards and pins for Castaway Club members and she says I didn't realize you were Castaway Club members.  Uhhh, I just stepped off the Magic an hour ago. She quickly reprints keys for us and gives us the pins and lanyards.

We then head over to the big Mickey head ear doors. A Cast member comes over and goes to let us in and the doors are locked. I don't blame them I would keep those doors locked as well. As we are waiting to get on we here lots of noise. Somebody else brings keys over and opens the doors and let us in. At this point we see people coming up the stairs for the upcoming cruise.

At this point Ann and Howard are still checking in because they did not fill out there forms ahead of time . We hoped they got left on again early. We later found out they did, but they almost didn't let them on because of all the other people arriving in the terminal.

I took advantage of the empty space and took pictures

We headed upstairs to our room. Load up our bags and head to do laundry. Threw our stuff in the washing machines and planned on coming back later. We had spoken with our room steward ahead of time and arranged a time that he could come in and straighten our room. So we went exploring the ship, while staying out of the cast members way.

Drawbridge Up
DSC00801.jpg

I sat down somewhere and just relaxed while staying out of the way. We could do lots of things as long as we were out of the way. We went back and put our laundry into the dryer. They had tension barriers at each doorway to the rooms we were told we could go behind them since we had a room full of stuff. Although I felt guilty every time I went behind them. Once everyone else was on board we stayed out, as we didn't want to cause issues, because some people were camping out in front of the barriers??:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 Why would you sit and wait to get in your room. Boggled my mine.

Once they let other people onboard we headed to Parrot Cay for lunch. All food and beverage service was closed while everyone else was off the ship, as they had to prepare for the next cruise. Putting food in correct places, cooking, etc. So we had to make sure we had eaten and drank enough for the time being.

DSC00803.jpg

Oh ya, my legs which were pink last night, were now fire engine red, so sitting on the plastic vinyl covered seats and sticking fast was pretty much torture.:scared1: :scared1:

After lunch we head up to the pool and hot tub area. Yes I should have put my suit on as it was totally empty, but I wasn't supposed to go back in my room at this point. Instead I settled for doing this.

DSC00810.jpg

More relaxing and sight seeing, this was dead time, there was nothing going on. Couldn't get in my room, it was nice as most people were just arriving and eating or occupying their kids so the adult area on deck 9 was empty.

We eventually can enter our rooms so we head that direction. Typically it is after 1pm, what time I could have got in I really don't know. When I enter I realize stuff I had sitting out was missing. OK, it really wasn't missing but our room steward had shoved most of our stuff that was out in drawers, our bags, etc.

This to me was not cool. I don't like other people moving and touching my things, especially someone I don't really know at all. I guess they do room inspections and having stuff out on the counters or sofa wouldn't pass inspection.:confused3 :confused3

Had I been told to put my stuff into closets, drawers, my bags, etc I wouldn't have minded doing so instead of having someone else do it for me and me not knowing where stuff was tucked away.

Before I knew it, it was 3pm and time for our DIS meet. This week I handed out plastic leis to everyone. We had a good time and met lots of DIS members. I would try and name everyone but I know I will forget people so I won't.

Our meet went by far to fast and we had to head to our rooms for the mandatory lifeboat drill. Yep, mandatory for everyone even those in the same room two weeks in a row.

DSC00816.jpg

DSC00817.jpg

We headed back to the room dropped our lifevests in the room. We headed back upstairs for the Sail Away party. Last week we got there late and we were on Deck 9, this week we went in the middle of deck 10.
