Baby wearing only a onesie?

Weird question, I know...
Our littlest one will be 4 months old when we take her next month and I know it will be HOT. Therefore, I figure she could just wear a onesie at the parks most days...is this acceptable, or should she have shorts on too? What about when we go to a restaurant? Does it matter if it is Table Service or Quick Service? (We don't have any "nicer" restaurants reserved.

When my sister brought her 11 month old, she had him in a onesie a lot of the time. Nobody ever said anything.
It's a baby. I think a onesie leaves them suitably covered, but not too hot.

I would probably err on the side of caution and bring a pair of shorts too, but my son was fully dressed every day when we took him at 3 months, because that's just how I roll...

Just a thought-I took my at the time 8 month old last year and he wore a onesie one day and it was fine but I wish I had brought something warmer for inside AC rides and restaurants so maybe stash something in the diaper bag.

This is such excellent advice. If I see another baby shivering in a restaurant.....and the parents wearing sweater-jacket and the baby next to nothing, plus the parents complaining about how cold it is.:headache:

I told this mom the other night at least go to the pool and get a towel to wrap around the baby.

I learned the hard way plus it's not like there's that much stuff warm for babies in the gift shops. I ended up buying a 2T hoodie and a blanket for his legs! Not the best option but it worked!

A onesie is perfectly acceptable, and I'm sure with a new baby you have a blanket with you at all times. PPs are right - it will be needed!

Maybe because I'm from the south and it's hot so often, but I consider a onesie to be a complete outfit. It's too hot and too fussy to do more. I love rompers, because they basically are onesies, but look a little dressier.

I would actually suggest just a tshirt and a diaper would be appropriate as well and would allow a little breeze that a onesie wouldn't. Either way, make sure your stroller has opaque shade and try to keep baby out of the sun ALL the time. In addition, California Baby's and Blue Lizard have excellent baby sunblock (mechanical block zinc/titanium, not chemicals) that should be used liberally along with a brimmed hat.(might want to start practicing with the hat soon if you're not already using one regularly) They even make sunglasses for babies (babybans) Even the short time in the sun while waiting on a line can be enough to burn a kiddo so young.

We're going in October with an 11 month old and I have a few cute onesies she's going to wear (without shorts/skirt). I take her out now at home in just a onesie. (DH thinks she looks funny though in just a onesie and shoes since she walks :lmao: )

Our DS wore rompers and onesies when he was 9 months old and it was August!!!!!!!
But I have to admit, on some SUPER humid days, I would strip him down to just his diaper for his naps in his stroller.
WDW has some super cute onesies!!!!

Thanks everyone. I guess I won't feel so self-conscious when she wears just a onesie. I do have some shorts that I will bring along, but won't plan on her wearing them everyday.
Thanks also for all the tips. I always carry around a receiving blanket so I've got that. Plus, I'll be wearing her a lot, so we've got the added body heat. We took one of my boys when he was 3 months old in May a few years ago, so I've got fans, stroller UV cover, etc.

That's what I was thinking. A onesie is perfect, but it gets cold in the restaurants. Even for myself, if we have decided to carry a backpack I stuff a thin sweatshirt in it for myself bc the restaurants can be cold.

My kids wore rompers practically all the time. I like that rompers look like shorts and cover up the diaper. They lived in rompers and overalls.

I loved rompers with my DS1, too. That's all he wore his first summer. My DS3 wore onesies, I just felt that DS1 looked too underdressed in them. Actually, DS3 looked underdressed in them, too, but I didn't notice until I went through his baby pictures on his first birthday.

So, OP, just keep in mind pictures that you may want to frame :)

I'd go the romper route too. The girls ones are cute and have little skirts on them too sometimes. :)

a onesie for a baby is just fine at WDW. I think little babies in just onesies are the cutest ever! However, I do agree that once a kid starts walking, they look strange in just a onesie and by then shorts are necessary.

I completely agree.
