Baby wearing only a onesie?

Last week I saw people with their babies in diapers only. :(

Where did you see these babies in their diapers? In strollers? Restaurants? Were they young?

It is HOT there right now and I see nothing wrong with a young baby, under 1, wearing a diaper only while in a stroller or carrier. In a restaurant or attraction is another story.

Our first trip my son was 2.5 and he wore a onesie much of the time. He was small for his age and looked like he was under 2. No one ever said anything even in restaurants. We did bring a blanket with us as well as pants for when it cooled down.

If it were me I'd probably put my baby in a one piece romper type outfit simply because I'd be taking about 1000 pictures a day...and it seems more like clothing than a onesie.

However - I see absolutely nothing wrong with a child under 1 wearing a onesie out in public anywhere. Pants are not required in my opinion. I would be extra cautious about sun exposure though.

I was planning on doing onesies about 5 out of the 7 days. The kids tend to wear Disney clothes while we are at Disney and I have 3 Disney onesies, my husband is going to make 2 for her, and then she has 2 Disney shirts that she will wear with shorts. My son wore mainly rompers when he went at 3 months, but they seem sort of "boyish" for my little girl.

Good thought on the pictures though...I'll have to think about that.

a onesie for a baby is just fine at WDW. I think little babies in just onesies are the cutest ever! However, I do agree that once a kid starts walking, they look strange in just a onesie and by then shorts are necessary.

aw. i love when my 14-month-old toddles around the house in a onesie. :)

for rompers, Carters (outlet) sells two-packs of little shorts rompers for decent prices.

Babies R' Us and Target have some cute Disney things right now. :thumbsup2

Both of my kids practically lived in onsies the first few months when it was hot. Heck, even now my (just turned 2 yo) DS runs around outside with just a shirt/diaper on sometimes. I guess it never occurred to me that it would be inappropriate...certainly no one ever said anything or acted like it was. I would do whatever makes them comfortable. But definitely have a blanket handy for when you are inside.

I put my five month old in onesies and rompers exclusively. It's just too hot for separate pieces. I keep a pair of babylegs in the diaperbag to keep his legs warm in the car or an air-conditioned building. For a little gril, a cotton sundress or bubble romper would be just as cool, cooler if a woven and loose, and cuter than a onesie if that matters to you.

They have girl ones - they tend to be ruffly around the legs. But if you already have disney onesies bought, heck go with it. :) Pair it with some cute socks/flip flops or if she has hair a little palm tree pony tail and it's suddenly an outfit.

Oh, I wish she had hair! But I can put a headband on her. Plus I have a few cut bucket sun hats for her.

Where did you get the babylegs? I don't want to spend too much.

Target has some legwarmers. mylittlelegs.com has some % off deals on the right side of their page. I have friends that buy them on ebay.

I personally buy from Babylegs.com They are B1G1 right now though with the code.

My daughter lives in BabyLegs. We have way too many pairs :lmao:

Only two things that ever bother me about seeing babies dressed certain ways is: 1) if a baby is in a diaper only and the parent lets them sit on the table at a restaurant. and 2) little girls who are obviously girls and not little babies running around shirtless.

(my DH did the first one with our son couple weeks ago at a restaurant and freaked me out. He hadn't even thought about how gross that was. Once I mentioned, he stopped though.)

Its not like there is poop or pee on the outside of the diaper (and most people change their kids anyways and don't let them sit in it).... you really think a super thin layer of leggings/pants makes that much of a difference?

Another vote here for rompers. They're more of an outfit than a onesie and they tend to be loose so they will be cooler. Plus they're really adorable.

We are heading to Disney World On Spet 4th 2012 and our 6 month old dd has a disny onesie for everyday we are there. She has super cute dress too. and she has Disney Headbands too. All our clothes are Disney too. Can wait for our trip all packed and ready to go now.

Oooh...where did you get the disney headbands?

I think a onesie is fine...BUT, if it were me I would dress my baby in lightweight pants and long sleeve shirt to get more sun protection coverage. At that age (4 months) you shouldn't be using sunscreen on your baby but you need to protect his/her skin. Various brands make SPF clothing that is extremely light weight (so the baby will not get hot), but will make sure he/she doesn't get sunburnt.

I'm taken two babies both at 6 months to Disney world, and I kept them covered from head to toe because I didn't want to use sunscreen even then, but they never overheated because the material was so lightweight. They even have really cute sunsuits that just fit over a onesie if you prefer that route.
