Don't you find that the names you like depend on who you know with that name! As a teacher it must be horrendous! When I was pregnant I just knew I would never call my DD Lorraine as she was the really horrible kid when I was at school, and Mark used to kick me so that was out too. Good Luck to your friends hope she likes all the suggestions, oh one more my Nephew is called Corrin, we all thought it was a girls name but apparently it's Irish.

i'm better at girl's names but I really like Logan for a boy. Also Ben, Andrew and Hunter.
My parent's friends have just name their baby Sebastiane (accent on the first e as the wife is French so they wanted a French name)
Jack is soo popular, I work in nurseries and every single one has had at least one Jack! I've found parents tend to be more adventurous with girl's names than boy's as a general rule.

My little boy is Alfie, he's 5 and the only one in his school, I'm a midwife and I can count on two hands how many Alfie's we've had in the last 5 years. We get the occassional Noah, which i really like. A lot of Williams, Daniel's, Jack's and Jacob's. Josh is also making a comeback and a while ago we had a glut of Cain's.

Alfie is far and away the most popular boys name around here. I personally know 5 at our school / Nursery (which is tiny - only 85 kids in school and 20 in Nursery!) and its the name you here most when out and about. Funny we have only one Jack in the whole school & one Daniel (my DS). There are two Williams in the higher years. Names seem quite regional - I remember some northern girls on my baby board said that every other girl baby was being called Olivia or Amelie when I'd never heard of one in our area! Down here, Ellie is easily the most popular girls name! DD has 3 in her class of 17 and there are another 8 others sprinkled throughout the years!

In 2003 I was going to call my second child Alfie as this was my DH nick name in the navy but when I mentioned it to my friend who owns a jewellers she said in the last year she's been unindated with chirstening engravements for Alfie. She thought it was from Eastenders but I don't watch this so had no idea who he was.

This put me off a little. My sister in law was my midwife and in between pushing and panting I sent her out asking all the other midwives how many Alfies they'd delivered. (obviously I was on an epidural so very calm! )

She came back and was already out of fingers so we were panicing choosing another name in between contractions.

Luckily a little girl arrived and solved the problem!
