Baby and the Tramp...and a Pop (half) Century! Where Did It Go???

Brooklynn is so cute with those characters. I think it's so neat that she's not the least afraid or shy with them. Looking forward to the next batch.

She's only been shy a very few times. We've been so often, I think she believes they are related to her!

We had reservations here.

Since Kay is a product of the fifties, I thought she'd enjoy it, and Jill is always up for Primetime.

Our homes, when we were very small, looked like this.

Brooklynn was listening to the waitress/aunt/cousin here. (Can't recall her title.)

Some art work to pass the time. She was shaking the container, and it looks like she has half a hand.

Checking out the ViewMaster.

Since it was early and not yet crowded, our food came rather quickly. Here's some of it.

003.jpg

I had decided going in that I would get the much talked about fried chicken. It was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. There was too much chicken. I would have taken a piece and put it in a ziplock bag for later, but Jill would have killed me, so I didn't.

This time, I was much braver than I was the last time I ate there. The last time was my first time, and I was scared to death of the servers calling attention to me in any chastising way.
Or any other way, for that matter.
I do not like attention.
I really, really don't like attention in public. I turned multiple shades of red, pink, rose, magenta...whatever is related to red, and my heart pounds at the same rate a hummingbird flaps its wings.
I do not like people focused on me.
So, the first time/last time, I was so afraid of having a playful CM speak to me that I ate every bite on my plate and was absolutely miserable.
This time, I was geared up going in. I would eat what I pleased and stop. No one would make me finish my plate.
I was fifty years old, for Pete's sake! No little college waitress/aunt/cousin was going to make me eat so much food I would explode. I didn't have time for explosions. This was a short trip.
So I ate what I pleased and stopped, and no one said anything to me, and I was glad.

:wave2: Hi MeMom and Jill! I've been reading your report for a while and have enjoyed it. Since school is out, I thought I would come out of lurkdom say hi.

Your trip reports have made me want to buy an annual pass and stay at Pop. I can't wait to read more! :goodvibes

I love Brookie's smile with the Playhouse gang. It looks like it was a great meet-up! The boys weren't as interested in seeing them as Lightning, so we skipped it, but I think we will go this summer. I am also glad to see the pics of 50s Prime Time. We'll be trying that for the first time this summer!

hi,

great update and pics.

cute pics of Brooklynn and the characters.

I love PTC. I think the table that was empty was where we sat. but they all look alike.

Yay us for a new reader! I'm glad you're coming out of the shadows and into the craziness. More than that, I'm glad school is out! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: That deserves lots of cheers.

We have truly enjoyed our annual passes. We have enjoyed them so much that we will likely be renewing them, even though we never imagined we would.

We already have Thanksgiving booked, and unless something really bad happens, we plan to go for another big trip next summer, so that would be two trips. Jill, John, and Brooklynn are going with their friends in October, so that's three for them. My friend, Kay, has talked about doing a short trip to take her grandson in the spring, so we could possibly go then, and hopefully it would work for me to take Brooklynn, too. Her grandson is just a little older than Brooklynn, so I think we'd have a lot of fun.

Anyway, if we make that trip, that would be three for me, too. So, three trips plus AP room discounts, plus the slight discount for renewing an AP would probably be worth it. Not as good as we did this year, but more like what normal people do with an AP.

moparop - She really did light up when she saw them! That's who she watches on TV, so they are her pals. We didn't see any of the Cars, so we're going to seek them out this summer. We will leave no character unphotographed before we are through! :)

If my friend and I do go with the grandkids, we'll have to find the Cars guys, because she says he is crazy about them. I went to the Disney Store with her once, and when she saw the Cars section of clothes and toys, she just kept saying over and over how much Dillon (or Dylan, I'm not sure which spelling they use) would love everything in there. She bought him several things, and she was having such a good time doing it. She would have a great time taking him to Disney World, so I hope it works out for us to go. I hope that she'll be able to take her whole gang someday - husband, kids, spouses, and grandkids - because that is the best!!!

Thanks, Scott. I like the decor of Primetime, because I enjoy seeing all of the 'old days' stuff. I could take a lot of pictures in there of each little thing.

I've had the same thought when I've seen other people's pictures - "Hey, that's where we sat!" - because they do look somewhat alike. Pig cookie jars, weird glass and wood figures, B&W televisions.

That is just what my house looked like when I was little. If we had saved those things, they would have been worth a little money now, I imagine. Makes me want to save all the decor I have now, but I can assure you I won't.

Wonder if the day will ever come when one of my grandkids says, "I sure wish MeMom would have kept that old toaster. It would be worth some money these days."

Maybe, when it has toasted its last toast, I should clean the crumbs out of the bottom, give it a good polishing, and pack it away in the attic for the future, in hopes that long after I'm gone, and people are zapping their toast with a George Jetson two-seconds-and-it's-golden-brown-and-sitting-on-your-plate toaster, one of my grandkids will find it and say, "Wow!"

Not likely. Toaster will go into trash, crumbs and all.

I'll share some good news on behalf of one of our readers. tinkgurl put out such a great report last year when she went to WDW with her family. This year, due to school/work obligations, her family was going to be able to go back, but she and her boyfriend were not. That was sad, but she just PMed yesterday that she WILL get to go, so she's very excited, and I'm excited for her! Her boyfriend still won't get to go, but at least she does. I know her mom and dad will be very happy with that, because moms and dads like all of their babies, big and small, to come along with them on family trips. I know how glad I'll be if all my kids make it this summer. I am sorry that Kristi can't come, but I can't fault her for wanting to take this Europe opportunity or for having softball camp right after.

Anyway, we can all be happy for tinkgurl's good surprise, and I'm sure she'll put out a wonderful report and awesome pictures.

Have a good Saturday, everyone!

Great update!!! :cool1: :thumbsup2

It's nice to have you joining us. It's Tuesday night, and that's usually when I put up a new batch of pictures. I've been putting up several this week over on an All Star Movies thread, because some people over there were looking for pictures to help them feel better about their future stays. Sometimes people seem a little afraid to stay in the values, so I like to help assure them that there are many good things about them.

Back to the trip.

We left Primetime full and with no real agenda. This is one of the two parks Kay had been to before, so there was no real push to get in everything for her benefit.

We checked Indiana Jones, but they were calling for standing room only, I believe, and we didn't want to do that.

010.jpg

I didn't take notes, but my pictures are telling me that we went to see Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

011.jpg

012.jpg

This little girl befriended Brooklynn. She actually kind of attacked her.

013.jpg

Her mother spent most of the waiting time pulling her off Brooklynn. The little girl was very sweet, but very, very, very active. She asked her mother if she could take Brooklynn home with her. Her mother told her she would have to be satisfied with a picture, and she took one.

We were happy to get inside the show.

015.jpg

I can't really say what else we did, but I'm almost sure it involved window shopping. In my blurred memory, I think we all went our separate ways to shop, planning to meet back across from Sounds Dangerous.

Random pictures.

At the right time, we went to get ice cream and a good seat for the Block Party Bash about an hour before it was supposed to start.

Humans eat ice cream.
Dinosaurs eat...

020.jpg

Kay couldn't get over the fact that if you wanted a chance at a seat, you have to stake it out really early.

Brooklynn fell asleep, and Jill made her a little tent to cover her from the sun.

021.jpg

She peeked up to see where she was.

Not interesting enough to wake up.

023.jpg

We were very excited about seeing Block Party Bash, as it was brand new when we were there. This parade operates somewhere between a real parade and a traveling show like High School Musical. We thought we had a good seat, because it had been great for Stars and Cars, but as it turns out, we should have been on the other side of the street and up further from where the parade sort of fizzled out. The CMs had roped places off, but even they seemed confused about what was going on. We were there when the tape guy came and laid out the tape, so we saw exactly where he put it. Later another CM came and said that people were standing in a place that was supposed to be taped off. The tape guy CM then told her that he had put tape down, so someone must have ripped it up. He was either dodging his mistake, or he truly forgot, but he didn't put tape where he said he did. It was very unorganized and the woman CM had forgotten where she put her pixie dust that day.

The parade finally did start, and we tried to see a little of it, but when everyone started moving after they discovered they were standing in the wrong place, it was just too chaotic. Brooklynn was asleep anyway, so we kind of just took it as a learning experience to get ready for the summer trip. We decided to go on before the parade was over.

We haven't yet given it a fair chance, since we couldn't see it well, but Jill and I both really, really like Stars and Motor Cars. When we can see Block Party Bash better in June, maybe we'll be happier with it. It was very colorful and action-packed. For me, it was too loud. Very, very loud.

Pictures of Block Party Bash will be coming up in the next post, which will be after I go do some household chores.

was this guy playing the grand prize game from the bozo show???

this is so cute! i wonder what it feels like to wake up and be at a disney world park? must be an awesome feeling!

we didn't see the block party bash when we went. we were too busy drawing pictures of pooh bear and meeting a certain mouse with a big blue hat around 3:00 on our DHS day. ;) besides, a parade in disney world without mickey just seems kinda wrong to me! maybe erica and i can catch it in september.

Yeah, I guess it was a game like that. I didn't stay to watch. There was shopping to be done! ;)

I've read that the best spot to see most of the Bash on the left side looking toward the hat. We're going to try that next time. It stops and performs, then moves on, and since there are only two stops, you basically see whatever part stops in front of you.

declansdad - I had only taken a picture or two of the dinosaur before, and for some reason, I found it interesting this time.

Here are the few pictures I have. I hope to do much, much better than this on my next visit. You can see how the crowds were gathered around in close groups trying to see all that they could. If they had been spread out along the street, like a normal parade, it really wouldn't have been that crowded, but everyone bunches up in the spots where they can see at least part of the show. You really just have to see how it is set up to understand it.

The countdown timer is now saying 38 days, 9 hours, and 31 minutes!

great update and pics.

I want to see that new parade and the new Toy Story ride.

38 days. lucky you.

I have 108

Great installments MeMom!! That picture of Brooklynn asleep is precious! haha!! I can't wait any longer for Disney i'm sick of planning them so far out! lol!! only 5 days until I'm in the 60s which counts for something, right??

The story about the little girl wanting to take Brooklynn home with her is pretty adorable! I love your pictures, it almost makes me feel like I am walking through the DHS parking lot with you instead of sitting here at my desk. :goodvibes
I'm envious of your 38-day countdown....about 100 days left for me!

Great pics and updates Memom. I'm really excited about your next trip, because your report and pics are always so fun to read and look at. You make things very interesting. Plus it helps me to wait the 11 weeks I still have to wait. ;) Thanks for sharing. :flower3:

Great update MeMom. I love all the pictures which I know I've said before but I really do love the pictures. I thought the ones of Brooklynn sleeping were so cute. Also as a side note, this is my 200th post!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

MeMom, just got back from our doctors appointment. THere were a few suprises...nothing bad of course! First suprise is that my due date is 2 weeks earlier now at 09-25-08 instead of 10-09-08. So that makes me almost 22 wks instead of just hitting the 20mark. The second was that it is a boy. I was pretty sure it was a girl..so I guess I was wrong..:lmao: I had a nice girls name picked out that I liked but never really thought of a boys name since I didn;t think it was one. Back to the drawing board. Baby weighs 1lb. They think he might be a bigger baby since I know the date of my last period so my dates are right...which is very possible since DH is 6'4" and his whole family is tall and his sister had big babies. But the bad new is if it is a bigger baby (which the doc says still has plenty of time to figure itself out) is that I am only 5'2" and I don;t think there would be that much room for that big of a baby which would probably mean a c-section which I am not too crazed about...but if that is how it needs to be done then I guess I do not have much of a choice.
We're going tonight to show the grandparents the ultrasound pics but only my mom knows the sex...because she figured it out only. I had gotten them a baby frame which I was going to put an ultrasound pic in but they were not that good of shots, so I might wait on that part. But I was watching the view the friday before mothers day, they were showing this book. Its called the Grandmother book...a book all about you for your grandchild. So I ordered it off barnes &noble and obviously did not get it intime for mothers day...so i am going to give to them tonight. It looks really cool. I also got ones for DH grandma and my grandma so they too can fill it out since who know how long our child would get to know them. Now to find one of those books for grandfathers...they have a story too!!:confused3

Memom, can I ask you a question? Which building do you like best at Pop Century. We don't want to pay for preferred, but would like something a little closer to the buses. We were in the 80's building over on the parking lot side in 2006. We're thinking about the 50's or 70's. Just wondered what you thought was the best. If you'd prefer to answer this on our thread instead of tying yours up, that would be ok. Thanks for any help you can give.

MeMom and BrooklynsMommy,

I have been completely engrossed with your reports for weeks! I've been waiting to post until I was caught up, and unfortunately I'm still not there, but I just couldn't wait anymore. So hello, I'm loving your family and all the friends on this report!

I do have one question though.... all the pictures from the middle of your Christmas trip, through at least part of the March trip (that's where I am now) are gone. It's killing me to read without them. Any thoughts?

Again, I love this thread, it's all I do in my (very small amount of) free time lately! It's making me so excited for my trip in August, thanks!

Welcome aboard! I will check on that picture thing later. Internet is down at home, and I can't do it at school. I'm glad you're enjoying it all, and we will get that fixed if at all possible. Jill changed some albums around last time she was here, so some may have been accidentally cut off.

Congratulations k_reile, on your new little prince! Won't it be great to share the Disney magic with him?!?!?! Just wait until the first time you take him to see Mickey Mouse and he smiles that special smile. You and your husband will beam!!! Best of everything to all of you!!!

I'll answer everyone back later. This is the last half day of school, and I have to get some paperwork turned in. The kids get half day anyway. We're still here through tomorrow. Then there's a week break until summer school starts. I'll check in later.
