Baby and the Tramp...and a Pop (half) Century! Where Did It Go???

this is sad that I know this...but that is Zach. I don;t even have kids yet (well not for another 7 mos anyways) but I actually think it is a cute show.

Thanks for the Shout Out MeMom!! :goodvibes I too like the picture of the bus signs, not sure why, I think because it makes us feel like we are looking for our own bus stops. :cloud9:
ASMovies looks nice. That chocolate cake looks delicious. :lovestruc
I booked POP for a long weekend in October!
We are going down for a DIS meet. no kids, just me and Steve.. Then we will be going back in May 09 for our 20th anniversery. Steve wants the Poly for that one..:goodvibes

Great pics Memom. I am leaving in 4 days for my way too short weekend trip to Disney before my conference. I hope I can handle the two days as a solo traveler.

Cannot wait to here more.

scottny - No, that was not me. That was Kay. I listened to your podcast. That was cool that you got to do that. Does that make you a CM now..sort of? Disney publicist - that qualifies, doesn't it?

punkin413 - Look at those days flying by! Last time I blinked you were just giving us a glimpse of the first one, Jiminy Cricket. You're coming down to the wire now. I'm so excited for you!

kaysmommie - She thought she was cute, too! We did like All Star Movies, but quite honestly, we weren't in the room much at all. With our frined with us, we stayed out a lot more to try to get in more things for her so she could get her money's worth.

SwansLoveDisney - I am enjoying your pre-trip report. All Star Movies was fine, what little we saw of it. I got up before dawn, shoved my air mattress in front of the bathroom area to block the light, got ready, and then went out walking and picture taking while the others slept. Then, by the time I got back, they were stirring, and we were out the door early. We did little else but sleep there.

Nicole786 - In order: Pop, Music, Movies, Sports. I would suggest Music over Pop if there are no kids involved, as it is calmer and just has a more peaceful atmosphere.

k_reile - I believe you are right. Cody is a little thinner.

Lovemy3babes - Thanks. Will you be doing MNSSHP on your October 2009 visit? It was really fun!

carrieannie - That chocolate cake WAS so good, especially with that vanilla ice cream!

VandyFan10 - You can book Poly for your 20th, too!

snowbell - You will enjoy your solo time. You can shop alone, with no one hurrying you. Put me on speakerphone all weekend, and I'll shop with you!

well then it was nice to see her in shadow. :lmao: I could not make out who it was.

thank you, why don't you contact him and do one?

Today was July 30, 2007. Also known as MeMom's 50th birthday!

I'm still trying to catch up on all this, but I just had to comment on this. My 50th was August 4, 2007!

I am totally loving y'all's report and pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for that value info!! :thumbsup2

And I would LOVE to be able to count on going to the Poly for my 20th!!:yay: :yay:

Yeah, having my birthday was no big deal. It being the 50th was little deal. Being in Disney World with all my family - that was a big deal! I loved it!

scottny - Jill will laugh when she reads your suggestion of me doing a podcast. In real life, I am a total introvert. I'm only talkative in written words.

VandyFan10 - I'll start saving my pennies to chip in on your 20th anniversary trip. I'll get a big jug and decorate it with a tropical theme and start pitching pennies in it. How much time have I got before I need to cash it in?

declansdad and pooksma - We've got a date, of sorts, in spirit anyway, for your Whispering Canyon meet. See your TR and Nicole's.

Gotta get my list ready:
ribs, that good cornbread, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, wooden horses, extremely large plates..

Yee haw, and all that!

Hi MeMom,

What building(s) should we request at Pop?

I guess it depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. If you want a quiet lake view, the back side of 3, 4, 5, 6 would be a good request. If you want to see Illuminations, the lakeside of the 50s. I think declansdad can give you an exact area/room numbers for that. It seems like I read him telling someone else about that.

You may want to be right on top of a pool. I think all my bunch kind of liked being right at the pool last summer. We were just to the left of the jukebox (if you are looking at it from the pool) on the first floor. If you want to pay preferred, the inside sections of the Lady building or the Big Wheel building - they are right at Classic Hall.

We've stayed in the Jukebox, Big Wheel, and Roger Rabbit buildings, so we've done 50s, 70s, and 80s. Honestly, right there at the Walkman/Rubix Cube are by the parking lot would be a good place, unless you want poolside. It would be close to the bus stop and right at the parking lot, if you are taking your car a lot.

Check out the map on the Pop FAQ board and see what you think. Anyone who is in normal health can easily walk to any building at Pop without it being a big deal. Going back and forth to the food court would probably be the drawback to the further rooms. When we were in the Big Wheel building, we could run down to the food court and back very quickly. When we were in the other two spots, it took a few more minutes to do that.

We made no requests the first or third times we were there. I did request the 50s last summer when I turned 50, just for fun. Jill and I talked just last week about whether we would request or not this time. It would be nice to be near the kiddie pool for Brooklynn, but the drawbacks would be more noise and never being able to leave the room without her pointing to the water and wanting to get in it! We would like to avoid Goofy's Pop Jets area for the same reason. If we have to go by those, we may never get to leave the resort. She loves water!

Check out allears, too, for a good slideshow. You may see a section that really interests you.

When are you going in October? John, Brooklynn and I will be there the 4th through the 11th. We are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. If we overlap dates we should try to meet up and get some of that fabulous chocolate cake and ice cream.

Hi MeMom and BrooklynnsMommy and all of the rest of you here too

I have completely enjoyed this thread and am looking forward to even more. I love the pictures and all the stories you tell. I've learned a lot too. Some of the pictures of the food you guys ate looked great. I can't wait to try some of those things. I love all the pics of Pop Century, that's where we stayed in 2006 and just last month I scrapbooked some of our photos from there. I can't wait to go back in August.

Anyway, thanks for sharing and keep up the good work. I'll definitely keep up on your thread. I feel like I know you now (or at least your Disney side). Our family is about as obsessive as yours, except we just can't go as often :rotfl:

You've got awhile....and I may end up with a lot!!! :goodvibes

June 29, 2025 will be our 20th anniversary

I very much enjoy taking a lot of pictures. Nearly every day of my trips, I am up and out the door to explore and take pictures while everyone else is sleeping. I can get good shots with no people in them that way.

I'm adding you to the HaHa Club for August, along with some other of our longtime readers.
As in 'HaHa, we're at Disney World and you're not!'
I will be really wishing I could be with you guys at your meet.

VandyFan10 - You do want Hawaii Concierge, right? Maybe I better save quarters instead of pennies.

snowbell is on her way to Disney World. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a safe trip. We've PMed several times today.

I think we're going to be able to have a Dismeet in November. SwansLoveDisney will be there, too, and a few others. I really hope that works out!

On to Friday night's installment.

We got our stuff into the room and freshened up a little, then it was back to the bus stop to wait for a ride to Magic Kingdom. I know I'm a total Disney nerd/dork/freak, but honestly, I am so grateful and happy to be there that even waiting at the bus stop feels good to me. I just stand there thinking that I could be anywhere else in the world at that moment, but I'm lucky enough to be getting on a bus to go to MK, Epcot, AK, or DHS.

I'm able to walk and talk and see and hear.
I am able to be with people I want to spend time with.
I'm at a place that has fun of every kind at my disposal from early morning until the wee hours of the next morning.
I'm surrounded by blue skies and palm trees, and for the most part, other happy families.
Yes, for me, even standing at the bus stop is a thrill.

We arrived at Magic Kingdom, and there were cute topiaries to greet us out front.

Kay was excited to be here, because this is one of the two parks she had been to before, and she remembered how much fun it was. Her daughter and youngest son were with her on that trip, as well. Her son and Trent had a big time, but her daughter, who was kind of whiny, was...well...whining.

Kay kept telling her she was not allowed to be unhappy in the happiest place on earth. She told her many, many times. Believe me. Nicole proved her wrong.

She didn't want to wear the hand leash Kay wanted her to wear.
She was tired.
She was hot.
She was thirsty.
If you watch Jon and Kate Plus 8, think Mady.

Finally, Jill took the reins, with Drew on a leash in front of her and Nicole on a leash dragging behind her sulking. Jill's wingspan probably grew several inches that day. Drew wanted to be hooked to his Sissy, and Nicole refused to move at more than a turtle's pace with anyone but Jill. Jill was the cool one, so letting her have them was the best scenario.

In spite of all that, Kay remembered Magic Kingdom as a fun place, and she was happy to be here on this day.

Without Nicole. :)

Brooklynn would have been excited, except:

We headed toward Splash Mountain to see about the wait.

The wait was longer than we wanted, so we went to Pirates.

A very dark Pirates picture.

Another one you just feel compelled to take.

Then we went to Haunted Mansion with very little wait.

Supper was at Columbia Harbour House.

I think my picture of the food came out too blurry to post. I'm not sure why it's not loaded, but I guess that's why.

We decided to get a spot back this way for Spectro, but since there was plenty of time, Kay, Brooklynn, and I went to Hall of Presidents. Jill decided to look for a good spot for us while we were in there getting a presidential education.

When we came out, Jill had found a good spot and a bucket of popcorn.

My favorite part of the parade is when Ariel says, "Oh, Flounder, look at all the humans!"

She just seems so excited to see us there. And I, for one, am ridiculously grinning like a possum, as they say in the hills of Tennessee, because I am one of those humans out there watching this parade!

Before I die, I will have a camera that takes good Spectro pictures.

After all of the excitement of the day, were we ready to get to the room and get in bed?

Nope, it was time to go and live dangerously.

We were going to watch Wishes from Fantasyland!

MeMom - be honored to be added to the HaHa club and we wish you could be there with us, but remember you'll be there in July and we'll need your pictures and posts to keep us going until August, just like these are doing for us now.

By the way I can't believe how big Brooklynn seems to be getting. She looks so tall in the picture where she's asleep in the stroller. I feel like I'm getting a front row seat to watching her grow up. :)

Another great installment, MeMom! Don't you just love Spectro??? I actually took some pretty decent shots during the spring break trip, of course I had David's camera, because I left mine back in NY, but I was happy with the way they turned out.

Im on the fence about Pop vs All Stars. David has never stayed Value, and as you know I stayed at Pop for a few days and I thought it was nice. I really want to try something new, but I'm "scared" of the other values! What do you think? Stick with what you know kid, or take a walk on the wild side??

i can't wait to hear about wishes from fantasyland! i think we're gonna do this on our first night there. i've heard the area near pooh's playful spot is good. popcorn::
