Hi
MeMom and
BrooklynnsMommy and all of the rest of you here too
I have completely enjoyed this thread and am looking forward to even more. I love the pictures and all the stories you tell. I've learned a lot too. Some of the pictures of the food you guys ate looked great. I can't wait to try some of those things. I love all the pics of Pop Century, that's where we stayed in 2006 and just last month I scrapbooked some of our photos from there. I can't wait to go back in August.
Anyway, thanks for sharing and keep up the good work. I'll definitely keep up on your thread. I feel like I know you now (or at least your Disney side). Our family is about as obsessive as yours, except we just can't go as often
I very much enjoy taking a lot of pictures. Nearly every day of my trips, I am up and out the door to explore and take pictures while everyone else is sleeping. I can get good shots with no people in them that way.
I'm adding you to the HaHa Club for August, along with some other of our longtime readers.
As in
'HaHa, we're at Disney World and you're not!'
I will be really wishing I could be with you guys at your meet.
VandyFan10 - You do want Hawaii Concierge, right? Maybe I better save quarters instead of pennies.
snowbell is on her way to Disney World. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a safe trip. We've PMed several times today.
I think we're going to be able to have a Dismeet in November.
SwansLoveDisney will be there, too, and a few others. I really hope that works out!
On to Friday night's installment.
We got our stuff into the room and freshened up a little, then it was back to the bus stop to wait for a ride to Magic Kingdom. I know I'm a total Disney nerd/dork/freak, but honestly, I am so grateful and happy to be there that even waiting at the bus stop feels good to me. I just stand there thinking that I could be anywhere else in the world at that moment, but I'm lucky enough to be getting on a bus to go to MK, Epcot, AK, or DHS.
I'm able to walk and talk and see and hear.
I am able to be with people I want to spend time with.
I'm at a place that has fun of every kind at my disposal from early morning until the wee hours of the next morning.
I'm surrounded by blue skies and palm trees, and for the most part, other happy families.
Yes, for me, even standing at the bus stop is a thrill.
We arrived at Magic Kingdom, and there were cute topiaries to greet us out front.
Kay was excited to be here, because this is one of the two parks she had been to before, and she remembered how much fun it was. Her daughter and youngest son were with her on that trip, as well. Her son and Trent had a big time, but her daughter, who was kind of whiny, was...well...whining.
Kay kept telling her she was not allowed to be unhappy in the happiest place on earth. She told her many, many times. Believe me. Nicole proved her wrong.
She didn't want to wear the hand leash Kay wanted her to wear.
She was tired.
She was hot.
She was thirsty.
If you watch Jon and Kate Plus 8, think Mady.
Finally, Jill took the reins, with Drew on a leash in front of her and Nicole on a leash dragging behind her sulking. Jill's wingspan probably grew several inches that day. Drew wanted to be hooked to his Sissy, and Nicole refused to move at more than a turtle's pace with anyone but Jill. Jill was the cool one, so letting her have them was the best scenario.
In spite of all that, Kay remembered Magic Kingdom as a fun place, and she was happy to be here on this day.
Without Nicole.
Brooklynn would have been excited, except:
Some pictures from up in Town Square.
A meeting of CMs and a secret door.
The crowd level on Main Street.
We headed toward Splash Mountain to see about the wait.
Roots on the ceiling of the Splash Mountain gift shop.
The wait was longer than we wanted, so we went to Pirates.
A very dark Pirates picture.
Another one you just feel compelled to take.
Then we went to Haunted Mansion with very little wait.
Supper was at Columbia Harbour House.
I think my picture of the food came out too blurry to post. I'm not sure why it's not loaded, but I guess that's why.
We decided to get a spot back this way for Spectro, but since there was plenty of time, Kay, Brooklynn, and I went to Hall of Presidents. Jill decided to look for a good spot for us while we were in there getting a presidential education.
When we came out, Jill had found a good spot and a bucket of popcorn.
A little while later, we were being serenaded by
a colorful peacock,
some crazy looking masked men,
two very cute rodents in sparkling lights,
and a drunken fish.
My favorite part of the parade is when Ariel says, "Oh, Flounder, look at all the humans!"
She just seems so excited to see us there. And I, for one, am ridiculously grinning like a possum, as they say in the hills of Tennessee, because I am one of those humans out there watching this parade!
Before I die, I will have a camera that takes good Spectro pictures.
After all of the excitement of the day, were we ready to get to the room and get in bed?
Nope, it was time to go and live dangerously.
We were going to watch Wishes from Fantasyland!
