Baby and the Tramp...and a Pop (half) Century! Where Did It Go???

After our late night out, we took our time getting up and going this morning.

Mom, John, Brooklynn, and I headed to the Magic Kingdom. When we arrived the park was already open. We decided to head to Toon Town since it was going to be opening soon. When we got to the rope it was us and 1 other family. Brooklynn had fallen asleep in her stroller.

A few minutes later, she was stirring and Minnie was walking out to greet everyone.

The cast member with Minnie came up to us and said Minnie had chosen us to be the Family of the Day and she wanted us to come and tour her house with her. So off we went.

When we got to the house this little girl hijacked Minnie. She came running out and grabbed her hand. Since Brooklynn was too little to understand what to do we just followed quietly behind them.

Minnie went through her garden and then in to the tent. The little girl was still holding her hand. When Minnie got to the lines, the cast member was only going to let the little girl and her family through. She was trying to make us wait. Now I had been nice this whole time and let this little girl walk with Minnie, but I was not about to let her go get one on one time with the characters when she was not chosen to be the family of the day. So I spoke up and told the lady we were the family of the day. She was getting so confused because the little girl’s mom was now saying they were the ones and trying to go through. Luckily Minnie’s cast member came up and explained to the line keeper what had happened and as a compromise they let both families in together.

We walked in the room with Minnie and got to spend time with her, Daisy, and Donald. Brooklynn did fabulous with them and the photopass photographers were loving her cheesy grins.

We went and got back in line for the Princess room where we met Aurora and Cinderella. Brooklynn was not quite as fond of these people characters as she was of the big giant furry ones.

We walked back out and around to the third line to see Chip and Dale, Goofy and Snow White.

Snow White was stuck at the castle so the CM told us to come back later and we could walk right on back.

We headed over to the Barnstormer. This is one of John’s favorites! We headed to the Judge’s Tent to meet the Main Mouse. The pictures speak for themselves.

We then headed back to see if Snow White had made it. We walked all the way around the back and straight in without having to wait in line.

We went through Mickey’s House where I set off the alarm (don’t ask!) Brooklynn played some checkers.

We headed to Peco’s Bills to eat lunch. We passed Woody’s round up on our way.

After lunch we went to the Tiki Room and then rode the Magic Carpets

After that we decided to head to Animal Kingdom. We were on our way out when we passed the Dole Whip stand. We all know that in order to be an official Diser you must have a Dole Whip so we stopped. Brooklynn loved it!

While we were eating our Dole Whip we saw Timon and Rafiki. The line was short so we hopped on in.

Then we were off to Animal Kingdom!

well, I woke up crusty this morning but then I logged on and read your latest update and now I feel like singing!

Okay so I will tell you about my most embarrassing alarm setting off moment. John and I were taking pictures as we walked through Mickey's house. I thought it would be cute to put Brooklynn in the messed up kitchen. There is a counter right there and I figured she could stand on it and look through the window and we would have a cute picture. Apparently there is a sensor because as soon as her full 19 pounds hit the counter an extremely loud alarm started going off. So I took her out ASAP and set her on the window sill and we took this picture with the alarm blaring!

So just for future info don't try to sneak even a big toe in Mickey's kitchen for a picture.

Back to the trip...

So John, MeMom, Brooklynn and I headed from MK to AK. We planned on seeing a few things we had missed our first day there and then meet Trent and Kristi for zebra domes and Kali River Rapids.

We hit the Pangani trail first. Brooklynn has been to the zoos in Louisville, Memphis, and Nashville and the gorillas were always among her favorites so that was our first stop. Some were sleeping.

Some were eating

We started heading toward the Festival of the Lion King. Brooklynn really enjoyed it. It is one of my favorites and it gave John some time out of the hot sun.

Then it was off to stake a spot for the afternoon parade. We found a great spot across from the entrance to "It's Tough to be a Bug" John headed to get a turkey leg while MeMom, Brooklynn and I made sure no one took over our spot.

Brooklynn had learned by now that a lot of people equal something fun so she waited patiently for the festivities to begin.

Since there was no one in front of us we had a great view and great interaction with several characters.

Trent and Kristi called and said they had just arrived so we headed to the bus stop to meet them and get some zebra domes at the AKL.

After our dinner and fabulous dessert, we watched the animals and looked for hidden mickeys.

Then we headed back to the Animal Kingdom. We stopped and did "It's Tough to be a Bug" on our way back to Kali River.

When we got Kali MeMom waited with Brooklynn at the bridge while John, Trent, Kristi, and I headed for the river. We got stuck before we even left the loading dock. We waited for about 10 minutes and then we were off. We all got a little wet but nothing too bad. When we got off John traded places with MeMom! Trent, Kristi, MeMom and I walked right on and got to ride with a boat full of guys. We went through the first time and I got wet and the guy I shared my seatbelt with got soaked. That's right, I was not sharing a seatbelt with anyone in my party of four, because MeMom does not know how to load a boat! Anyway, we rode once and when we got back to the dock the people on the boat ahead of us stayed on. So we decided to stay on too except for MeMom. Unfortunately for MeMom, her two eldest children convinced total strangers to put their feet up and barricade her on the boat. That's right, MeMom, sit down and buckle up cause we are going again! We determined that our boat was now a team. TEAM WATER MOCCASIN!!! (If you were in the vicinity of Kali that night you heard the whole boat cheering go Team Water Moccasin!) We were a force to be reckoned with! We hold our own members hostage on the boat. This time I got soaked. Before the boat docked we had determined we would three-peat. Unfortunately, the boat docked and MeMom was sitting in the seat with no one blocking her. In one quick move she was up and out of the boat. She broke the team up so we all disembarked. I stopped and bought a souvenir towel. We headed to the bus stop on our way back to Pop. Trent and Kristi headed to Walmart, Drew and Sam hit the Magic Kingdom, John did some work, and then it was off to bed for everyone.

Today was July 30, 2007. Also known as MeMom's 50th birthday!

THis morning everyone kind of had their own agenda and plans. We would all (of course not Drew and Sam because as you have seen as you have read this report they are very rarely in the same place as us!) meet up at Tony's in MK for lunch.

MeMom headed to Epcot to immerse herself in the World Showcase.

John, Brooklynn, and I headed to the Magic Kingdom. Brooklynn's few sprigs of hair had a date with a pair of scissors at the Harmony Barber Shop.

We then headed to the Wilderness Lodge to buy MeMom's birthday present. Her house is a lodge theme and she had been wanting the throw from the Wilderness Lodge to hang in her kitchen. So we got her that and made an appointment with the guy at the DVC counter for tomorrow afternoon. We jumped on a boat and headed back to the Magic Kingdom. We put together a picture frame of Brooklynn pictures for the rest of her present. Brooklynn changed into her Lady and the Tramp outfit and then it was time for lunch.

Our waiter gave Brooklynn a special Tinkerbell pin.

MeMom had purchased Lady and the Tramp stuffed animals for Trent and Kristi and had them delivered to the table.

We all enjoyed our food. Brooklynn loved her spaghetti!

The waiter brought cake to the table and everyone sang Happy Birthday to MeMom.

After lunch we headed out to the balcony for the parade. There was a very nice CM making sure the only people out there were those eating at the restaraunt. We had a fabulous view of the parade.

We headed back to Pop and grabbed a snack from the food court.

After resting a few minutes we decided to head to the outlet mall. When we got back it was dinner time. We ate out by the pool and then Brooklynn and I swam a little. She loved the water!

After swimming we changed Brooklynn into her pajamas and left her with her MeMom to sleep while Trent, Kristi, John and I headed to DTD for some shopping.

We all hit the bed at a decent hour.

Looks like MeMom had a magical Birthday. Someone (I won't mention who) looked like she enjoyed her spaghetti.

I thought it was awfully sweet of 5boyz to send me a birthday card, too! I did get balloons and a card from Mickey and Minnie in my room, which was okay. I could have definitely done without the public singing of "Happy Birthday" in Tony's. The Tony's meal was planned perfectly as far as timing. We ate at a leisurely pace and then enjoyed the perk of having great seats for the parade. I would recommend that as a strategy for anyone who is thinking about eating there. Plan it near parade time.
