Wonder if it used to be a split-level apartment?

What an oddity!

Actually it's an old New England farm house with an attached barn. We're in the barn, which is great because of the privacy. No one above us or below us. All I can figure is that this door was put in when the place was converted to apartments, probably for fire code. It just never apparently got stairs (the landlord bought the place like that, he didn't do the converting).

Back from the clinic and BOTH kids have strep.

DS's temp was 102.7 and DD's was 104.2. They dosed both with ibuprofen right then.

Now we're back home and DD is sleeping, DS is playing P&F Across the 2nd Dimension.

I feel so bad for the kids because they have to miss their first ever t-ball practice. They were angels at the doctor despite feeling like dirt.

They were probably angels because they felt like dirt!!!....:lmao: Feeling too lousy to put up a stink!

So sorry they are so sick, though.....

[see prior comment re: doors slamming germs on their bums. If they have bums.]

They have a tendency to fight DH and I about medicine. They took it like champs. They were good in the waiting room - no whining at all. They did everything the nurse and doctor asked - told them everything they were asked.

Only thing we need to practice is taking our temperature. :rotfl2: DD wouldn't lift her tongue!

Hey all, just saw this link on Twitter and I sit here, misty.

Beautiful words for an extraordinary man. Take a moment to read this.

That was beautiful! Thanks for sharing that kwit.

So, I just spent some time outside chatting with our neighbors. Really, really nice people (even the guy, who initially seems stand-off-ish). They have a little girl who's somewhat special needs, and she got to actually meet our cat Pippin (she sees him in the window and just loves him!). It was neat to see her with him. Anyway, the guy confirmed my suspicions that the deck is little more than a formality, not a big deal....and yep, the insurance person who was out a few months ago said there needs to be something off that door to nowhere!

Lesson learned: get the facts before panicking. :flower3:

Phew....should be ok.

Congrats to Amanda!

LM - Good luck with the home. It would really stink if you had to move so soon.

Kwitch - feel better soon to your family!

We have like 10 channels but fortunately I have all of those via Netflix streaming!! Good stuff.

Yeah, I mean we didn't plan to stay here forever, and we've been feeling the lack of space lately, but I would hate to feel forced out, y'know? I really do like the apartment! Looks ok for now, though. :goodvibes

Honest and for true! :upsidedow

Day 2 of the sickies in the house.

Kids are acting like they feel better - I've had a free lap this morning. :teeth:

DS decided we needed a Harry Potter marathon then we needed to play the Lego video game.

Glad they are feeling better.

I'd like to see the last 2 Harry Potter movies again. Lately I've been thinking about Lord of the Rings. Almost time to watch those again. The trouble is, once I watch one, I become obsessed and want to watch them all.

I put on LOTR when I clean. Allows me to take breaks to enjoy

And for the record...

DO NOT search Legolas and Aragorn on Photobucket.

:rotfl2: Of course I had to search after you said that.

If I had the movie playing, I could see myself stopping in the middle of what I'm doing and running to the TV b/c I MUST see a scene. I'm afraid I would get sucked in and not get much cleaning accomplished. :lmao:

I take John Cusack's methodology from High Fidelity into consideration...

I put on something that I can ignore.

Something so familiar that I don't HAVE to follow along 100%. Hence the reason I put in LOTR, HP, Anne of Green Gables...
