oh.. one more thing.... anybody planning anything for the DH's for father's day?? I don't think we're going to do anything ... maybe he can BBQ or something... He left for San Diego on Mothers day.. so I had to get up before the crack of dawn to take him to the airport... needless to say, he really didn't plan anything for me on mothers day so i guess we don't need to make a big deal out of fathers day either... do any of you guys do anything special ?

So 4th grade graduation was this morning....It was very cute and fun! The kids were so proud and the teachers were misty-eyed. I've liked this school and will miss it, since I don't have any left bringing up the rear. The kids are literally going across the parking lot, though, so will have opportunities to see their teachers again (the art and music teachers are the same in the middle school, which helps with the transition too).

Half day tomorrow, then BRING ON SUMMER!!!!

We are going to brunch with my dad for Father's day. We may go to the Rays game after. DH isn't sure if he'd rather go to the game or hang by the pool. It will be his choice. I am going to buy him a gift, not sure what yet.

I'd vote for hang by the pool. But then again I'm not a dad.

Hi girls.

Boy, I needed the mental break.

All of the family is in town finally and the viewing is tomorrow. They've asked my dad to watch the house while everyone is at the funeral home because the houses behind theirs have been vacant for a while. I feel bad because they asked dad to cover the house for JUST the funeral... now they want him there for the entire viewing AND the funeral so I'm going to split the time with him. I'll do my part at the funeral home then relieve him - I can't see having him sit at the house for over 6 hours tomorrow. That's not fair to him, ya know?

In lighter news... I chopped all my hair off! It's gone! I feels great for the summer so far.

In other news, it's raining here!!.....*gasp*!!.....NO!...Really??!......

So I'm kind of miffed at DH right now. We put one of our cars up for sale last weekend. Long story short, turns out it has a certain oil leak that will need to be fixed before too long. That was not a surprise to us, we just weren't sure of the exact nature of it. We have an offer on it. Obviously lower than our asking, but given the situation, it's a fair offer. He doesn't think he should take it, mostly because we were basing a replacement vehicle on getting closer to our asking price. Which leaves him with two options: either try to fix it himself over the summer ($$) and try to resell in the fall, or just drive it until it dies, which then leaves us with NO car to sell in order to buy a replacement ($$$$$). Ugh....! Men. My point of view is that half the point of selling it was because it's a Subaru and ANYTHING that needs fixing on that car is BIG bucks. It's not a car we can afford (it's from the IL's). It's also too small for our family and lifestyle. I've got three potential cars on craigslist that I'm leaving up on the computer for him to see when he gets home!!


AND!!....LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!! Woo hoo! I'm glad they're out. Sorry but I'm not one of these moms who prefers to have the kids in school and dreads the vacations......I love my boys and like having them around. They're growing up fast and I'm already watching them start to pull away in terms of their independence, y'know? Looking forward to summer.

I'm off for a photo shoot here in a bit. I guess the school commissioned portraits of the wrong kids the last two years for National Merit Finalists. It's a SUPER hard recognition to earn - you have to score in the top 2% in the NATION on the PSAT to be a finalists. Well, they contacted the one girl from two years ago and commissioned me to do her portrait to get her the recognition she deserves. The original photo had 6 kids in it. To their credit, they were honor recipients, but shouldn't have been in the picture.

Then we'll have the viewing.

And the funeral tomorrow. DS and I had the sweetest conversation about it last night.
DS: "I'm really going to miss great-grandma"
Me: "It'll be okay. She's your angel now."
DS: "Is Jesus an angel?"
Me: "He's kinda the head dude."
DS: "So grandma is one of his helpers? Coo!"

I love that kid sooooooo much!
