"Babe, I Messed My Pants..." An Oct 2013 TR - FINAL UPDATE! Added 5/24

Man, I thought my kids were the only ones who got those monster mosquito bites! Aren't they horrible!?!

The only thing I hate more than mosquitoes is flies. The buzzing drives me insane!! :furious:

Oh expedition Everest! I finally rode it on our last trip and loved it! It bummed me out that the standby was always so long and we didn't get to go again.

The first time I ever went on it, I felt unimpressed. But I think it's because I had my eyes closed and didn't really get to feel the experience. Now, it's tied for first place with Soarin' as my favorite ride! The queue is really fun if you like to take pictures. I try to find really obscure or hidden items and take pictures of those things instead of 214 pictures of the mountain peak! :rotfl2: (Which is EXACTLY what I did the first several times we were in the line!)

We've never gone in y&y. It is so pretty in there! I'd be in there forever looking at all the things. Your drink does look delicious!

I really like it there but I'm a big fan of all types of Asian cuisine. It's not "Chinese Food," if you know I mean. But it is yummy! The service is always excellent and it's super clean inside. Plus, there's a millions things to look at!

We aren't big parade people and have only seen this one twice. It is pretty fun though. Our kids liked all the bright colors and costumes. I'm not thrilled with the avatar land either. After all the construction is done and FotLK moves are they bringing the parade back or are they changing it too?

Literally, the only parades we ever watch is Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade and Boo To You when we go for the Halloween party. As far as I'm aware, MJJP is done. The announcement said no plans have been announced to replace it. :(

Had no plans for Yak&Yeti but may need to try cream cheese wontons now!

If you like cream cheese and ice cream.... I'd go in there and sit down JUST to eat that. So dreamy! :lmao:

I'm a little unsure of Avatarland, just because we have no idea what the next few movies will be like and if they actually will be good. Lot to live up to. But its all about timing...if they are far enough along and it sucks, they can't just not finish it, but they can change it into something else.....:rolleyes1

I could not understand the decision to even START planning the Pandora-area like three years after the movie came out (maybe even more now? :confused3 ). And yeah, what if the second movie totally bombs? I can't imagine they'd go forward with a third one! What I am excited for is that this new expansion will bring back evening hours at AK and I know that it will look amazing... I just wish it was something Disney themed instead! :worried: But I guess that's why the Disney Imagineers get paid the big bucks, right!? I just hope it's everything they're banking on it being! popcorn::

What an awesome update, Ali.

You really had a nice day at the AK and got a lot done. I love Yak & Yeti; I'm eating there again will have to remember that drink you had.

I'm with you on the parade going away. And I saw five minutes of Avatar and turned it off. There are so many other Disney movies they could have based things on that deal with animals. One would be Jungle Book. I understand change needs to be made, but I am very disappointed in some of Disne's changes lately.

I wish I were on Everest right now too!

Great safari pics, especially the ones of the elephants.

That Everest Avalanche looks delicious!

I LOVE the Jammin' Jungle Parade so much!!! The music is so catchy, and I get to see my love Brer Rabbit. I'm really devastated that August was the last time I'd see it :(

Glad you were able to get some good FP+ (and FP-) even with AK being in the red

Fun animal picks - especial that little guy with the hanging wooden basket/feeder thing

I hear you about Avatar - I am not as upset as other people but I do think it is kinda unnecessary. Why can't they just build, oh, I don't know, the mythical creatures land that was originally going to be built before they ran out of money?!?!?!?

Thanks, Kathy!

We had a gorgeous day, and I love Y & Y, too! I'm glad we were able to sneak it in on this trip!

Yeah I just don't get it! I mean, I know they must know what they're doing...sometimes I just question the motives, I guess! Like, I can't help but ask why?? :confused3

I want to be on Everest every day! I'm so bummed about the parade. I never watch parades but that one I watched every time. At least I have the music for it on my iTunes!

FP- !! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Fun animal picks - especial that little guy with the hanging wooden basket/feeder thing

He was so randomly placed right in the middle of Discovery Island! Although thinking back, I think I may have seen him (or similar monkeys) there on previous trips. But he's so cute with his little face and his crazy hair-do!

I hear you about Avatar - I am not as upset as other people but I do think it is kinda unnecessary. Why can't they just build, oh, I don't know, the mythical creatures land that was originally going to be built before they ran out of money?!?!?!?

I said the SAME THING!! Like I said, I'm not MAD...I just...I don't know. I'm confused and I feel like it was a rash decision made to counter WWoHP, or something. I just don't understand how they can have SO MANY THINGS available to use...things that could really bring people back to their childhood, given the plethora of movies if the archives....(I mean, hello....Robin Hood...Sherwood Forest...just sayin'!) Even if they just expanded the area into a bigger and better character meet & greet spot...that would have been A-OK with me! There was just so much potential for that area and I just feel like the Avatar thing is a waste of that space! The best part will be the return of nighttime AK park hours...So I can ride EE in the dark!

It is the unexpected that makes days at the parks so magical, right? Red level day, but you got in to Y&Y! Plus just seeing the animals and getting great moments like that with them...makes it worth it!

I always have a hard time thinking of things to DO in AK...so this post was great and I have ideas now! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It's funny because I meant to mention in my update how AK was allegedly a heavy crowd day, but it was actually not too terrible at all! I think it helps to really take your time meandering slowly first thing in the morning.... Get your FPs then take it easy, you know? Most people leave by noon in our experience so the rest of the day is pretty easy going!

Yeesh - your down-to-the-wire EE FP+ experience would have given me some serious high blood pressure freak-out! Glad you made it!

Wow - I can’t even remember noticing the Dino gift shop before - you’re right - there is a lot of freaky stuff in there. I need to pay better attention to gift shops. I’m usually focused on shuffling the DD out of there as FAST AS POSSIBLE!

Sounds like Y&Y was a great lunch spot at AK! :woohoo:

WOW - you got some amazing parade pictures!!! I love them! I so wish I had known that this parade was going away - we have never seen it. Given how much time we spent in AK last year, I would have made it happen if I had known. :(

Where does the time go?? I can't believe it's been almost a month since I updated! I am so sorry! (If it makes you feel any better, I'm still working on my scrapbook for our July 2012 trip... :scared: )

We're going to see Captain America tonight and I swear I will update tomorrow! I'm hoping to just finish up since I only have two days left!

the shared bus thing was killer! We just couldn't get the timing right no matter how hard we tried!

yeah I can imagine wanting to get out ASAP when you're traveling with kids! We just really like to dawdle (and enjoy the AC!) so we spend a lot of time just wandering around in gift shops!

I'm so sad! I hate it when certain things change... Like I was totally OK with New Fantasyland but the AK changes it's aren't sitting well with me!

Just found this thread. Subscribing, better late than never!

welcome! Thank you for joining! And yes, I agree! Unless it's to an ADR then I get all annoyed and snotty with Lumar because we're late! :rotfl2:

Captain America was awesome! Loveloveloved it!! After Avengers its my favorite Marvel movie. Hope you have a great time!!

So I think in my last update I said I only had two more days to do.... I have no idea what I was thinking because I actually have FOUR. :confused3

So, I sat here tonight, trying desperately to get together at least two updates for you guys since I promised....

And that's when my lovely upstairs neighbor came home.

I found out yesterday that she was notified that the complex is NOT renewing her lease, which I believe expires in May (I assume they have to give her 30 days notice, right?) So she has the brilliant idea to lay her stereo down in the middle of the living room floor, speakers down, and start blaring hardcore rap through my ceiling.

Now, I cuss like a sailor. I admit it. I'm not offended or bothered by the music.

But there is a THREE YEAR OLD in that apartment with her. And DCF has already been called, at least once.

So I did what the leasing office told me to, if the problems persisted when they weren't here, and I called the cops.

Now, keep in mind that I live DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET from the police station. I can see the building from my living room. It took them 15 minutes to get here. Naturally, the loud music had stopped by then. I could hear her upstairs arguing with the cop(s) but I have no idea what they were saying. It got super quiet for a few minutes so I thought it worked.

Next thing I know, she's down here on my floor, knocking on the door of the people who live next door to me, asking if it was them who called. She knows it wasn't and I know the only reason she did it was so I could hear her. A few minutes later, she goes back upstairs and bangs on the floor from the front of the apartment to the back with something really heavy...a baseball bat or something, I don't know. Then I hear shouting, and a few minutes later, she's blaming the kid for "getting them in trouble because she was running around."

I am just truthfully at my wit's end....I fully anticipate not sleeping a wink tonight because I know she'll be as loud as she possibly can be.... and I won't be even slightly surprised to wake up tomorrow to slashed tires or a shattered window or something.

I'm trying so hard to have my very own Kevin McCallister "This is it, don't get scared" moment...but my anxiety is through the roof, my heart is pounding a mile and minute and it's been resting in my throat for the last hour.

I don't know if I can handle (at least) 29 more days of this!

So my update is done I just need to post it, but I will have to do that tomorrow! Thanks for sticking with me! :grouphug:

I was just coming here to check on you because you hadn't updated in so long and you've not been to my TR (now completed) or my PTR (now started) and I was worried about you.

I am so sorry that you are having to go through all of this. I would keep your phone close to you at all times in case which wacko starts something. Please be safe my friend, and call 911 even for the smallest thing.

I am SO sorry you are going through this!! It sounds just awful!! Hopefully you will get some peace and make it through the next month!

so sorry that you are still dealing with this - but at least there is an end in sight! Is there a friend or someone you can stay with for a bit - even just to get a couple of nights sleep? Any chance you could set up a drop-camera or something facing your car if you are worried about it ... or perhaps if you hear noise again video/audio tape it?

Feel so terrible for that 3-year old as well - no child should have to go through that. Just hope that God/Karma/whatever comes around

Captain America was awesome! Loveloveloved it!! After Avengers its my favorite Marvel movie. Hope you have a great time!!

It was amazing!! Saw it twice over the weekend!

Thank you so much, Kathy! I'm going to start catching up tonight because I'm behind on EVERYONE's TRs! Thanks for sticking with me! I have started taking my phone with me everywhere I go (even to take the dog out) and I feel like a paranoid freak but it just makes me feel safer. I really don't think she will do anything but still. I just can't wait for it to be over!

I am SO sorry you are going through this!! It sounds just awful!! Hopefully you will get some peace and make it through the next month!

I hope it's only a month but I don't know for sure! I emailed my property manager last night to tell her about what happened, and all she replied with was "thank you for letting me know." Nothing more. Nothing to try and make me feel better, no words of encouragement, no hints as to how much longer I have to deal with it. I'm just so frustrated!

I considered going to my dad's for a few nights but then I thought about it today on my way home from work and I decided I'm not going to let her control me. She wants me to feel bullied and I'm not going to let it happen. I'm not moving my car to another parking lot, I'm not using the front door instead of the back door when I come and go... I'm just not doing it. If she wants to say something, or do something, I have no problem calling the cops again. She can do whatever she wants, and say whatever she wants, but in the end she is the one who's leaving and not me. But I will definitely be recording her if I feel I need to! Although in the state of CT, any recordings taken without consent aren't admissible in court.

So like I said, I read all of your latest updates I just forgot to comment! Sorry...bad DIS friend...

Anyway! Awesome morning at AK! The safari is so much fun, I'm surprised we skipped in December, but the line was insane!

I'm so not excited about Avatarland either. I really, really wanted Lord of the Rings land. Really. How awesome would Disney do Middle Earth though? :cool1:

I really want to try Yak and Yeti, but only for those cream cheese wontons. I don't really care about the rest of the food, it honestly just looks like crappy Chinese food to me! :rotfl2: But those wontons look insane. I wish I could just get a to go order.

Ugh, I'm so glad that stupid neighbor is finally leaving. I can't believe you've been so stressed about it for so long, and now that it's coming to an end you're even more stressed! :goodvibes Hang in there, it will be over soon!

OH I forgot-what kind of camera do you have again? Your pictures of the parade were soooo good!!!

Babe, I Messed My Pants

When we last left off, Lumar and I were leaving Animal Kingdom and heading back to the BWV to get cleaned up and prepared for dinner.

We didn't stay at the resort very long, literally just long enough to unload the backpack and then we headed back down the boardwalk!

We were VERY excited for our dinner reservation, as it was something new for us!

We arrived early so I sat outside trying be cool, taking selfies.

Spoiler alert: I almost said "taking selfies of myself." Which shows you how uncool I actually am. :rolleyes2

I only got as far as two, before something completely terrifying happened.

That's when I felt something hit my back.

I imagine I looked something like this:

Firstly: When ever something unexpectedly touches me, or lands on me, or floats past my head and I can see it in my peripheral, I always immediately default to "it's a bug."

Secondly: This time it actually WAS a bug. Not a palmetto bug, thankfully, but some sort of cicada type thing.

Lumar thought I was out of my mind, people were staring at me... and I was dancing around like a psychopath trying to make sure it wasn't on me.

It wasn't. It was on the ground. Behind a bench. Just sitting there.

I left it there and we went to dinner.

We checked in at Via Napoli and I took several pictures of the stunning chandelier in the entryway:

We were seated a few minutes after checking in and shortly after, a woman came over and asked if we wanted water. I said yes and asked if I could also have a Strawberry Fresca.

And that's when things got weird.

She told me I had to wait for my server. :confused3

I had no idea that they had a waiter, who was completely separate from the water server. Whose sole purpose is to serve water. Only water.

I ordered arancini for an appetizer but the only picture I took didn't come out so no pics. To be honest...it was just OK. Kinda bland, if you ask me.

While we waited to order dinner, I took these pics of the inside of the restaurant.

We decided on pizza for dinner. Pepperoni and black olives.

Lumar was, obviously, very excited:

Lumar takes a slice off the tray and I get to work on serving myself.

That's when I heard it. In the saddest, most pathetic voice you can imagine.

Lumar: "Oh no! Babe...."

Me: "What?"

Lumar: "I messed my pants!"

Me: "OK, what now?" (Insert frantic thoughts of the lactose-intolerant party member immediately having...ahem...adverse reactions to his first bite of pizza).

Lumar: "Some grease dripped onto my pants!"

Me: (breathing a sigh of relief) "That's it?"

Lumar: "It's gonna stain! Now I have to walk around like this for the rest of the night!"

As an FYI, it was one tiny drip and it was at the edge of the leg on his shorts. Probably the most UNnoticeable stain ever.

So now that I had been assured we didn't need to go back to the room for a change of underwear, we dug into our amazingly wonderful pizza.

We live in Connecticut. Home of New Haven style pizza which is right up there with Chicago pizza. The pizza from Via Napoli was some of the best pizza we've ever had. No joke. Not even slightly kidding. It was that darn good.

I happened to be sitting next to a window and saw this outside:

I thought it was funny because there is a lizard on his arm that looks like a tattoo that an old sailor might have, or something.

We split a tiramisu for dessert"

It was equally as delicious. By comparison, I ordered one at Olive Garden the other night and the custard was still frozen when I got it. :scared:

After our wonderful dinner experience we headed over to Norway for Illuminations!

After the fireworks, we headed back "home."

When you first mentioned the bug and the "I messed my pants", I thought maybe you sat on the bug and "messed your pants."

That is too funny about Lumar and his tiny little spot. Sometimes they truly are worse than women. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Mark and I are trying Via Napoli for the first time in September and your review just has me all the more anxious to try it.

So sorry about the apartment troubles :( that's just awful!

Via Napoli is sooooo good. I actually loved the arancini so you might have just had an off day? That pizza, though!

TR title reveal!

Awesome Illuminations photos.
