Hi, can anyone help me with this?

We are flying out to Orlando next December and I've been doing a costing based on this years flights. The cost of the flight back this year on Friday 26th December is a lot more expensive than Thursday 25th.

Is this because it is a Friday, or because it is the 26th? Virgin's flight on the 26th is only marginally different to the 25th.

We are really hoping that we can fly back on the Friday next year (which would be the 25th) but will go for the Thurday instead if the price is that much different.

Any idea?

Thanks

The flight on the 25th would be cheaper because of it being xmas day and people are less likely to travel.

I agree not alot of people want to travel on Christmas Day especially as most places/services are closed or on limited/expensive opening. Also Thursday 24th may be expensive for flights with people wanting to get to places for Christmas Day.

traveling on Christmas is great! good prices and the flight crews are usually in a cheery mood....

Brilliant, thank you.

We're going for 3 weeks (getting married) and want to squeeze every day out there that we can.

After doing a bit more research I think we're going to go for a connecting flight from Birmingham rather than trawling all the way to Gatwick. After weighing it all up we will save a little by going from Birmingham but be home in about 1/2 hour :thumbsup2

Does this mean flying Continental out of Birmingham? I have done this a lot as all my family live in the US and when I fly alone without DH, I usually go from Birmingham. I would NEVER recommend Continental out of Birmingham over Virgin or BA out of London. Never.... The planes are crappy. They know they are the only game in town to get to the US from Birmingham directly so they don't bother with nice planes or many people on the check in desk. The flight attendants are great, but that's it.

When we flew on Christmas Day last year, hardly anything was open at the airport in the UK (Birmingham) but at Newark everything was open and it seemed as busy as a normal day.

Our price was good but the flight crew were the worst we've ever come across in 20 years.

I agree about the planes. Not about the flight attendants (see above).
If you have good access to Birmingham and are only travelling to Newark, then it's not too bad - worth putting up with the planes for the shorter journey time. For a longer journey then generally I'd head for Manchester or London.
