On Wednesday, I bit the bullet and ordered a used Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 from B&H Photo. I could hardly sleep last night from the anticipation of it arriving today. :woohoo: UPS arrived a little after 5pm (it was a looonnggg day). I ripped open the package, carefully lifted the lens out of the manufacturer's box, and began to mount my new lens on my Nikon D50.

They sent me a Sigma...but it was a Sony mount. :scared1: I'm so bummed. I checked the receipt and is says "Nikon" so I know it's not my fault, but I can't do anything about it until Sunday since they are closed on Saturdays. I'm going to miss a whole weekend of FUN! (I'm whining here). Mistakes happen, I'm not mad...but I really wanted to practice with it this weekend.

Anyway...I knew I could come here and whine a little bit. I'm sure they will straighten it out quickly. Thanks for understanding.

On the bright side, be glad you ordered from B&H and not some fly-by-night outfit. I'm confident they will handle this quickly and efficiently.

Instead of being bummed, how about some weekend shootin' fun, anyway, with one of the lenses you already have!

That is exactly the first thought that came to my mind. I've never ordered from them before, but I know they're reputation is spot on. I won't let it get me down for long. :) The Sony model is just beautiful...I'll be even more excited to get the Nikon one now that I've had it in my hands....it's a MONSTER!

Oh, I would be bummed, too! I would love to see some pics when you finally get it! It is one of the lenses on my wish list!

Well you have a lot more self control than I do. If I got a lens with a different mount I would probably tell Trina it was an omen that I should buy a Sony camera. Then she would make some comment like I need another camera like I need a hole in the head and I would start evaluating whether a new camera was worth another hole in the head...

Ugh! Don't say that! I just ordered a Sigma 70-200/2.8 with a 2x TC in Nikon mount from B&H yesterday. I will not be a happy camper if that happens. Hopefully they will fix this for you quickly.

That is disappointing - sorry that happened. Soon enough you will have the correct mount though - and it will be like Christmas morning all over again - for the second time. ;)

I have that exact lens for my 30D and I love it so far. It will be worth the wait!

A similar situation happened to a friend of mine recently (was sent the wrong product from B&H). He phoned up, and once B&H received the lens back, they credited the shipping back to him, and sent the new lens priorty shipping to him at no charge.

Don't worry, they'll make it right.

sorry to hear that,

but feel free to send the lens to me, it will fit nicely on my 7D :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I talked to B&H today. They will take the Sony mount back, but now there are no used Nikon mount Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8. :( If I still want the lens (which I do), they will pay for the shipping, but I'll have to make up the difference for a new one which is $80. I'm still going to do it. I have the $80 in my photo account...I had just been so excited about finding a good used one and saving a few bucks.

The hubster thinks I should wait until another used one pops up, but after handling the Sony mount and thinking about all the cool pictures I'm going to take, I just can't wait.

Tomorrow morning, I'm going to ship it back to B&H; they will get it on Tuesday, (fingers crossed) I hope to have a new lens by Thursday. I have another baby coming over on Friday, so he will be my guinea pig.

Ok, my parents only let me have a dog when I was a kid so I have to ask. How can you tell a boy guinea pig from a girl guinea pig? Or is that what you need the camera for on Friday?

:lmao: I've been practicing baby portraits...on babies, not guinea pigs. :lmao: We had several guinea pigs when my sister and I were young, but I couldn't tell if they were boys or girls. We just believed the man at the pet shop. There were never any guinea pig babies, either. I have no intention of getting so close to a real guinea pig that I would be able to figure that out.

Can't you just use it for a while, like mount it with some duct tape?

Mikeeee

The saga continues.
They took the Sony mount lens back, no problem...except they are still processing the return. While I've been waiting for them to process it, the lens has now become "out of stock." I don't know how long it will take to get it "in stock" and they don't either.

So I ended up cancelling the exchange transaction altogether. I don't think B&H is a bad company and I will do buisness with them in the future, I just think it's unfortunate timing.

This morning I found the same lens cheaper from Amazon and with one-day shipping, it will be on my door step on Monday. So...for that I am excited. :cool1: I am doing senior portraits for a girl from church on Tuesday, so I'm planning to use it then (after some serious playing Monday night).

Thanks for listening to me. I knew I'd find a few kindred spirits here.

I ordered the same lens (for canon) from amazon a while ago and have used it quite a bit. Hope you enjoy it when it comes in. :)

Thanks, Jennifer. Several of the photographers I admire use this lens. I can't wait to get my hands on it. :)
