After reading all of these negative things that schools are doing and saying to parents about taking their children out of school for trips (ludicrius)
I had to share my recent expierience.
I sent the letters last week to my DD's school, to all teachers, homeroom and principle.
2 days later, my 6th grade DD came home from school with a bag and a note from her teacher.
Note said,
"Kristyn,
While you are on vacation, your assignment is this...
In this bag, you will find a disposeable camera to take pictures. Your assignment is to take pictures of anything related to science. And as you know, anything can be science, because science is everything.
Also in this bag is a $7.00 gift card to Eckerds (local pharmacy) to develop these pictures.
Once the pictures are devolped, please put them into the album that is included in the bag to share with all of your classmates.
Have a wonderful vacation.
Mrs. Carr"
Isnt that great! I just about fell out of my chair when I read that.
I was expecting negativity from everyone.
The pricipal even called me at work and told me to have fun, and just get assignments from individual teachers.
I just thought I would share.
I hope everyone gets a response like this at some time or another.
