AWM has no power...

Gald to have you back:love: My DS's both also like shooting aliens (or anything) so would not make good Amish.

I made a quilt by hand sewing once - I started in 1992 and finished it in 2006:lmao: But I didn't work on it constantly;) (and it wasn't down to scrapping it took so long as I only started that in 2005)

Glad to have you back Ann. I just read this thread tonight so I didn't have a clue!

And when I read "Ike blew the roof off the garage" for a minute I thought Ike was your husband's name and he was doing some chemistry or something in the garage! Then I read further and realized they meant THAT Ike!

So have your boys ever seen the Amish? Did they find little white funny collared shirts and short black jackets and pants to go with the theme? Maybe a goat or two?:rotfl: We were in Amish country camping back in July so it's a vivid picture.........

Glad you are all ok and having hot showers and coffee again!

I think they thought they were helping by only wearing shorts for those days. You know, less laundry. :rotfl2:

We used to do lots of farm auctions when we first moved here, so we saw lots of Amish families at them.

I think I like being counted amongst the English instead of the Amish. Unless someone wants to send me some Amish Friendship bread starter?

AWM, I have some!! Boy that bread is awesome.

Is there a recipe to make a starter? I think it might not survive the voyage over here - and if it did Customs would not let it in:rotfl:

I once made a bread starter from a "pioneer" recipe in Farmer's Weekly - it was not a good experience, the bread didn't rise and tasted like it was made from ground pioneer's boots:rotfl:

My sil kept bringing variations on the friendship bread to family dinners. I wasn't overly impressed but we all politely took small pieces. Finally, she threw it out and everyone was grateful. She offered me a starter and I turned it down.

yea that stuff just freaks me out for some reason. i really don't like things that have been sitting around unrefridgerated like that. ick. sorry. i hope i'm not offending anyone. just not for me!

In our old house we needed to have the ceilings redone. Took out some walls that left gaps in the textured ceiling. Decide to smooth whole thing. :sad2: Yeah, I know now that was pretty stupid. Anyway, the person we hired was a lady who did awesome work. She would bring friendship bread that she baked that morning for us everyday she worked. Hers was always good. Maybe because it always had some kind of chips in it, chocolate, peanut butter, butterscotch? She gave me starter when she left, but I didn't keep it up the way it was supposed to. I forgot to add the flour. So I never got to make my own. Not sure if I could do it now or not. I don't even eat raw cookie dough anymore.

I got told off for keeping marmite and peanut butter in the fridge because no-one could spread them without tearing the bread into holes :lmao:

Kicky LOVES raw pastry, raw pasta etc but I won't let him eat anything with uncooked egg. last time we made pasta at home I think he ate more uncooked than was left to cook:rolleyes1
