This is the first time I've ever cut open an avocado (wanted to try making some guacomole) I expected it to be a bright green color inside , but it is mostly a brownish color & yellow with some green. Is that normal? I don't want to make & eat guacomole if I'm making it with a rotten avocado!!

Thanks to anyone who can help! :)

This is the way it should look

If it has brown spots on the inside, it's probably not very fresh.

Thank you! That is NOT the way mine looked inside! Guess no guacomole for me today :(

When you buy it, you want just a slight give. If it is hard, it is not ripe yet and if it is mushy, it is overripe. It is a little bit like a fresh peach.

great picture bubie! Much better than attempting to explain the inside of an avacado! ::yes::

I love avocados with just a little salt. YUM!
