Just wondering what people thought would be a better attraction and use of resources.

We went to Harry Potter world last year and really thought Disney may be attracted to the return on investment they are enjoying. We loved it and will be coming back for the new addition when it opens rather that WDW this year.

Can they do both or will they do either?

Avatarland is being built as we speak thats a done deal. We are just waiting on an announcement from the Star Wars part. I believe some sort or Star Wars attraction or land will come. Disney CEO said himself that they are in fact working on Star Wars things for the parks. Star Wars has a much stronger following than avatar but both will boost disney. I cannot see disney not put any Star Wars attractions in the parks. At the D23 expo last year they had a set up at imagineering of little hints at what's to come from disney imagineering two of the big things were avatar and Star Wars so its a given they both will come. Avatar is set to open in 2017 we have yet to find out what and when any Star Wars attractions will come. This year DHS is having their 25th anniversary I think disney might make some announcement at this event in regards to Star Wars.

If I could only choose one to ever get built it would be Star Wars, and I would like to see it in DHS. I think the current path is a good one, Avatar in AK (which is definitely happening) and Star Wars in DHS (there have been a lot of rumors of this and it really makes sense).

We missed AK on our Halloween visit this year. Have they broken ground already?

I am all for Star Wars land! By the way they were pushing Star Wars during the televised Christmas Parade along with the fact HS needs some help, I would think it would happen eventually. Don't care about Avatarland at all.

I'm sure the Avatarland will be beautiful, but I have zero connection with it.

I saw the movie and didn't like it. I thought it was long and boring and I have no interest in the characters.

Star Wars anything would be great! :)

Both

Avatar land coming to AK it is currently being built, and although i didnt particularly enjoy the movie, i am looking forward to the land, after all i have never watched song of the south, yet still enjoy splash mountain, if the land is well themed and the attractions are well thought out and designed, and maybe deliver us something new (unlikely i know) then it wont matter to me that im not keen on the movie]

Star wars land although not announced is a relative certainty at least in some shape or form, probably in DHS

they have easily the resources to do both of them, the thing is they want to spread out the newness factor, nto open everything close together, so with avatar opening in 2017, it may be 2020 before we see star wars or even later

~Disney can do both! But, is Disney willing to do both? I really don't know. Disney did not acquire the rights to Star Wars until *after* Avatarland was announced.

~I'm pretty certain, there would be no plans or need for an Avatarland if Disney had the rights to Star Wars, but this just didn't happen until after the fact. And, that's sad because Star Wars already has a commanding presence at DHS -- so the concept of Star Wars land at DHS is just an extension of what already exists.

~With that said, this could turn out to be great for theme park fans. It's more stuff for us to enjoy! :cool1:

Not a fan of either, really, but I think I'd prefer the theming of Avatarland. That said, I'll enjoy anything new that Disney decides to do.

Oh come on... You're talking maybe the biggest brand (outside of Mickey Mouse) in entertainment that most of us on here grew up with vs a very popular movie and potentially decent size brand in Avatar... Of course nearly 80-90% are going to say Star Wars.

Fortunately they will be doing both, but if we had to choose I think 90%, like myself would choose Star Wars. It now holds a unique place in our culture beyond any movies before or since.

Only issue with star wars is what setting/environment would it take place in?
I choose both
Avatar at dak
Star wars at dhs

Sign me up for Star Wars land! But I think Avatarland land is going to be great as long as the Imagineers are given the appropriate budget. As great as Carsland in DCA turned out, I am very optimistic.

Even though Star Wars is the much bigger brand the beauty of Pandora (Avatar) is it fits the AK theme perfectly, so to me it's not so much a question of which brand do people favor but which park needs more attention right now.

There are a lot of rumors the Osborne lights won't be back next year so hopefully that means we'll see Star Wars construction or site preperation starting sometime this year.

The real question is what the other theme park are going to do after Pandora opens in AK and a large Star Wars area opens in HS. Both will have attendance go through the roof and people will stay longer on site because all 4 parks will become must-do. More will come to Disney, especially the Star Wars fans. Future Avatar movies will draw people to AK and future Star Wars products will draw people to HS.

Build it and they will come.

This will be something to watch. I sure hope they go for broke and do it right! I already think they will with Pandora based on the plans.

All four parks over 10 million in attendance yearly and possibly much higher! Harry what's his name? Check. Your move Universal.

I agree if disney does this right attendance will go through the roof. Pandora plans look amazing. With the addition of AK becoming a night time park and a new night time show. This will make record attendance at AK. People will not consider AK a half day park anymore. Same with DHS they need it bad and Star Wars is the perfect thing to expand with.

If customers are given the option for either an AvatarLand or Star Wars Land I'm quite sure the majority would have voted for Star Wars land. However, Disney and all their infinite wisdom is kicking off AvatarLand first. Of course the park It's going into, AK, certainly needs to be improved to get better attendance figures. However, Avatar has been proven to have any of the staying power that Star Wars has and even the 2nd movie in the Avatar series keeps getting delayed so it may never happen. Even the following for Avatar is declining quite rapidly and they really aren't a significant number of fan groups that are out there supporting it. Star Wars has a huge number of fans and attended numerous conventions and other events annually. In addition there are already 6 movies in the series with more being written and in planned production.

Star Wars would certainly be where I would be spending my money if I was a distant executive! :thumbsup2

Star war land by far the better option. First movie was out in 1977 and still pulls in millions. I just don't see the proven longevity for avatar to put that kind of money out there. Now anything they do I'm sure will be great. I expect nothing less of disney. Just if your going on what is a bigger return I'm going with Star Wars.
