Avatar Land or Star Wars Land if you could choose

Star Wars Definitely - They should just make a whole new park.

I really didn't like Avatar, but the scenery was beautiful all glow in the dark, so I'm hoping the land will be better than the movie. I think the land has great potential despite the movie.

Although, personally, I'd rather see some kind of jungle land where they brought back the Tarzan show and maybe incorporated other Disney movies that have a jungle theme, more rides/ shows not just shops and restaurants. I think that would fit better with the animal kingdom overall. I'm probably the only one who would like this though. Not modern enough for most people.

I agree with you... I would love to see them really explore Tarzan, Jungle Book and expand on the Lion King. They have so much original material they really don't need to spend all that money to have James Cameron on board to have Avatar. It will be beautiful, and I'm sure I will enjoy it, I just question why.

Exactly, so many great Disney movies are based around animals. It should be so much easier than they are making it to incorporate new Disney attractions into AK. Why go outside when you have plenty of great material right there already? I'd even take a Brother Bear attraction, the music was great and you could add in real bears and other animals from that region to expand the zoo part of the park. You could do a northern lights aspect for the night time part. Or the Emperors New Groove attraction with llamas, and some kind of llama run-away cart roller coaster. Home on the Range you could do a farm / ranch area. Atlantis, you could add an underwater aquarium exhibit. Id even take a Frozen Arctic area. You could have the reindeer and Olaf there. So many options, and we get Avartarland because it is newer, flashier, and more technologically advanced. I don't hate the idea. Id just rather have Disney at Disney, and I just don't think it fits AK very well, I'd rather see it in Epcot as an environmental or technological educational exhibit or even in HS as a more movie Sci Fi thing. I'm afraid AK is starting to move away from the animals.

Yes camp Minnie Mickey and FOTLK closes today. There has been a lot of prep work going on construction trailer are in that area and height balloons have been used in the avatar area.

I am happy to hear it is moving forward now.

What is a "height balloon" ? I am assuming it is a balloon that is tethered so you could judge the overall height of something. Being a General Contractor I have never seen one on any project I have been a part of. But being a Disney attraction I could see someone doing this prior to design. Although I can't see changing building plans at this stage of the project. Were there more than one? Just curious about the "height balloons" and how many.

Thanks for the update. Now let's make some space for Star Wars over at HS!

Let me get this correct... you seriously would rather ride on a "run away llama cart" than on a flying dragon (Banshee) through floating mountains with a luminescent jungle filled with interactive plants? :confused3

It makes sense for Disney to judge heights before finalizing plans because visual theming is so important. If the structure planned can be seen from another "land" or even another park or resort, they will consider that either by revising the structure itself, or more often by painting and decorating a certain way. This is why the Tower of Terror is the color that it is: it is colored to blend well with Morocco since you can see the back of it from across World Showcase Lagoon.

Your exactly right most people think they were testing the height of where the floating mountains would be.

I'd rather have the banshee ride but I am in agreement they didn't necessarily need to go out and get avatar in order to expand AK. I love the lion king and wish there was more in the parks, same with jungle book. There are plenty of animal related movies disney has done that they could put that into AK. I am excited to see what avatar can bring tho.

I'm not a big Avatar fan so I would automatically pick Star Wars, I just don't understand what Disney sees in Avatar.

Is this even a choice? Is there anyone on the planet that would honestly like Avatar over Star Wars? Maybe I am wrong ...

Its not that Id rather do one or the other. Those were just some off the top of my head ideas. Im sure they could be improved on. You could do a flying dragon from Mulan or something similar to the avatar ride concept just from a Disney movie. I'm not opposed to Avatarland. I did say earlier the concept art looks great. I would just like it better if it was at Universal or somewhere else. I'd like to see more Disney at Disney is all, and I don't understand why they need to bring in other things when Disney already has so many great characters who are animals or who interact with animals for them to choose from.

I do understand the appeal, the nighttime aspect, the younger generations liking the more technologically advanced stuff. So I get why they are doing it. I just personally prefer the animal part of the AK. I like the zoo aspect and would love to see that improved upon, and I doubt Avatarland will add to that very much as those are all fictional alien creatures.

I really think I'd like the idea of Avatarland a lot more if they were adding it to HS instead. You've already got some sci-fi theming going on and you could even incorporate movie special effects and stuff. I think that would be a great fit. Keep the ride, just move the location.

I guess someone at Disney did...does?

Now that it is started I hope they give them the budget to do something cool. I would have preferred some Animal tie in as well. Hope they go big.

I'd prefer Star Wars Land but a well done Avatar would be cool too.

If the question had been which at Animal Kingdom, then I would pick Pandora. And Star Wars will be cool, because so many of us love it, but, if done right. Flying on a brightly colored dragon through floating mountains in a ride with awesome new technology may end up making Pandora the better area.

It would probably be better to have a Stars Wars lands or superhero land. I still like the idea of having Donald in math land or having mickey mouse ride or mickey mouse club cafe?

Star Wars all day long. I don't see what could really be done with avatar really.

There is a ton that can be done and this conversation of Star Wars or avatar doesn't matter anymore. Avatar broke ground today still no sign of Disney announcing any Star Wars at this time either.

That's good to hear. So they are actually starting with bulldozers to do site work? At this point Avatar is a done deal I understand. I hope they announce Star Wars soon and go back to back on the development, like they did on Grande Floridian and the Polynesian resort.

I will never see the draw of Avatar as the film was not a big hit in our family not with the boys, their girlfriends or my wife and I. Hoping they knock it out of the park and I enjoy the new land in spite of what the movie was or was not. Spiderman ride is cool and I never cared for those comics or films either. So now looking forward to the new Avatarland.......

I take Star Wars land over Avatar land any day. I personally am more of a fan of Star Wars to begin with. On top of that, Star Wars is already present in the parks which makes it feel more Disney to me as opposed to Avatar which feels very foreign at this point.

I know Avatar land has now broken ground so my opinion isn't worth much (as if it ever was!) but I'm a Star Wars land addition to DHS isn't far off!
