Automatic or Manual Transmission in your Automobile?

I drive and prefer an automatic. Haven't driven a stick in over 15 years and honestly I don't think I remember how.

Have an automatic, would only drive an automatic... because I can't drive a manual.

AUTO! Oh my gosh! Before me and DH were married, and we were quite a bit poorer, he went out and bought me a new car. A manual. I had never driven one before, and it was difficult for me to learn. I did eventually get it. Eventually. It was not pretty. I cried. Nuff said.

Last spring I finally traded that piece of, well, that car in for an automatic, and I'm a much happier woman. To be fair though, the manual was also stripped down, so some of my hatred was for the lack of creature comforts. But it soured me to manuals forever.

MANUAL- its the only way to drive, for people who KNOW how to drive...more control, better fuel economy and safer if you can drive manuals well.

I've driven a manual shift for over 20 years and wouldn't drive anything else in the winter.

Me too, I did however go around the block once in first gear and that was the extent of my driving a stick shift.

Manual - most cars here are manual as it gives greater control and fuel economy.

Auto. I have never driven a manual car. My car has that fake manual thing, too. I have never used it either.

Manual.

I've been stalling on buying a new car for nearly two years now because I can't find one that I like that still offers a stick shift. I've even looked into importing from Canada, but that was not a viable option <sigh>

MANUAL!! We had an automatic for a while... BLECH! Not for us!

I drive an automatic. DH drives a stick.

I have his car today and its a pain to drive stick with two little kids in the backseat who need stuff every 5 seconds.

It depends. My mini van, I like an automatic for convience. My Mustang? Nothing but a stick should go in a muscle car.

Stick shift here. I owned 3 cars in my life, and all were Hondas with stick shifts. I was looking for a used car two years ago, and my #1 requirement was that it be a stick. So when I found one I liked, I bought it fast! Who knows if I would ever find another! :drive:

The other best thing about sticks is that no one can borrow your car, since hardly anyone can drive them! :teeth:

I barely know anyone who can drive stick. It's a rare skill to have!

DH and I both have manual transmissions in our cars. When we bought my car, the salesman asked me several times if I really knew how to drive a stick. He could fix me up with an automatic for only $2,500 more.
