Do you all think that a 5 year old and a 3 year old are old enough for the autograph books? I have always thought of them for kids around 7 or 8 and up, but I'm thinking of getting then for my kids. Is it worth it for smaller children?

16 more days!!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :bounce: :cool1: :lovestruc

Hmmm...I guess it would depend on the kids. I'm making one up for my 5 year old but I'm not sure he will really care. It's just that I know having his older siblings have one, he might want one too, so I'm prepared.

If it was just him, unless he expressed an interest once we were there, I don't think I would consider it beforehand but you know your kids (my 5 year old is only interested in seeing Buzz and doesn't care about much else! ROFL!).

I'm definitely not making one up for the 1 year old. LOL!

Hey! You sound like me. We haven't started doing the autograph books yet. (My sons are 5, 3 and 1.) But, we're going to get one for my 5 yr old for our trip in 2 weeks. On our trip in Feb. he asked several times about getting autographs, so I promised him for the NEXT trip he could start collecting them.

We won't get one for our 3 yr old (or 1 yr old) yet though. We'll wait till they show interest...

:)

We had one for my niece when she had just turned 3 and she had a great time with it. My sister had also bought a polaroid for the trip and pasted the photos next to the names on each page and it is a neat momento! We're going again next spring when she'll be 6 and I just ordered her a princess autograph book off of e-bay and I'm going to go to Michaels to get a big fat pen for her to use with it and I'm sure it'll be a big hit. Even today she still remembers waiting in line and getting an autograph from Ariel so I'd say it is definitely worth it!

My five year old niece filled up three autograph books a couple of weeks ago (Two of the Princess ones with 14 pages and one of the blue ones with about 40 pages). The characters are one of her favorite things. In fact whenever she was about to have a meltdown all we had to do was find a character line for her to wait in (in her stroller) and she was able to mellow out. As for the three year old. Is she just three or almost four? For my niece just three would have been too young, but almost four would have been okay.

The three year old actually will turn three in June...the problem is that if her brother has one, she will want one too, so I can't just do it for my son. I think I might hold off unless DS catches on to it and shows interest.

OMG I'm so excited for this trip I can't sit still....

My DD was not quite 3 on our last trip in Dec. We got her the Princess book and she had a ball handing to the princesses at CRT and to some other characters we just happened across. We did fill it up and put the pics in later. She still loves to look at herself with all of the characters! We will definitely start another on our next trip in Dec.

My DD has been doing an autograph book since she was 3. She loved being able to carry the book and pen to the character all by herself at 3. It can also help break the ice if a chid is a little afraid of the characters or is a little shy. She is now 9 and makes her own autograph books to take with us.

My son was 2.5 on our first trip to WDW, those pictures are absolutely priceless. We started teaching him at a very early age the practice of patiently waiting in line............the memories are still fresh in my mind, even though he's now 7.5. The autograph books are just a neat way for them to be able to interact with the characters. I was afraid he would be scared of the characters when we went because he would have absolutely nothing to do with clowns, Santa, Easter Bunny, or any other costumed character. However, he loved the characters (except Cruella and Jafar).

DD was 7 our first trip, so naturally she had one. She would have wanted one at 5, but that's her. On our last trip, my niece, 3.5 was out of the stroller demanding her autograph book any time she saw a character. Her older sister, almost 8, forgot her's half the time.

My 5 YO has said he wants autographs this time

Im betting one of the kids in his daycare class had one from their trip

My dd7 wanted on so, of course my 2 1/2 year old did too. I didn't want to leave out ds1 so, we got him one too. DD7 brought ds1's book with her for the autographs.

We had one for my 4yo but not 17mo when we went in October. The 4yo enjoyed it. We are returning in a couple weeks and I asked if she wanted it again and she said no, she already had enough. (I will bring it just incase ;)

my DD3 LOVES to get autographs - last time my DS didn't do them -he was one - but he wants to be so much like his sister - I am going to let him do it this time!

My daughter did it when she was 3 and 4 and loved it...but now that she is 6...she says that she is too old for that. :) Besides, she says "thier autographs haven't changed from the last time we were there."

DD did not do autograph books on trips when she was 3 and 6, but she wants one for our trip this fall- she will be 7.

She didn't have any interest in getting autographs- just wanted pictures with the characters- until a little friend brought hers to school one day. Now she really wants to have them!

We are planning a couple of character meals so we won't have to spend too much time in lines getting signatures.

We took one for my 2 1/2 year old. I was not sure but she loved it. I found it helped break the ice with some of the characters. There were a couple of the characters she was scared of but she would hand the book to me, I would get the autograph and she would quickly look at it. She was always reviewing the book and showed it off when we got back home. So, yes I would do it.

In 2000 I was on a trip with family including 2 nieces. One was aged 3 years 3 months and the other had her 5th birthday during trip. Both girls had autograph books and had great fun getting the autographs. They wanted every characters signature (didn't matter if they had Mickey10 times, they still wanted it each time :rotfl2: ).

I imagine the 3 year old on her own wouldn't have been interested, but because her sister had it there was no way she was being left out, even if she didn't really realise the significance of the autographs. I can still see their excitement when we watch the videos, especially the 5 yr old who was practically shaking with excitement and could hardly contain herself for most of the trip :Pinkbounc

I don't have an answer to your original question.

But if you have a Disney picture book with the different Disney Characters in it. And it is one that you like to read with your child. Then take that book to WDW and use it as an autograph book and have the Disney Character sign next to the picture. It seems like it would be fun to reread and remember the memories when back at home and as a keepsake. Just a thought.

Sincerely, Ray

We just made some for our DD5 and DS4 to take with us. We got a "memory book" from Walmart (it was double the price at Michael's!) and put on some some princess stickers for my DD and Hercules stickers for my DS. They had fun making them and are excited about using them. We also put their names on the front just in case a character reads them they will know their names!
