Autograph books for character interaction

Did you do the print on both sides of the page?
Also did you see anything at the craft store that would work for the cover? I have a bind it all. So i can bind the book, but i'm worried about the cover. Also how many pages did you put in each book. I think my girls would love this for our next trip so gives me less then a month to get my act together.

Yes, we did print on both sides of the page. It really cut down on the number of pages. Even so, we probably had 30-40 pages or so. I never did see anything at the craft store that would work for the cover, but look around maybe you can find something. I'd love to hear if you find something.

So the thicker paper feeds through your printer OK? I have never tried that, but I have a new printer, so maybe it would be OK. I think your books look great and I like the idea of having the kids work on them with me. DD loves projects. Can I ask approx the cost of having it covered and bound at Kinkos?

The trick for me will be that this is our first trip and I really have no idea what are the common characters, other than we will be going to 2 character meals so I have an idea of who will be there. Anyone have a list / thread somewhere of the characters you will probably see without trying too hard and in which park?

Thanks so much for the great idea! I am not creative, but I can follow a "recipe". I think I might use the back of the pages to attach a picture once we get home.

I am going to CM and CRT, and have already looked up what the common characters are. Thanks for the offer. I mostly want to do the basic characters. Maybe on a future trip we'll know if the kids enjoy this enough to hunt / wait for more the characters. (For instance, I doubt I will wait a couple hours to get Tink- but I have her on my list just in case the line isn't too bad.) I came up with 26- maybe let me know if you think any of these are not likely. I might shoot for 20-25, then include 10 blank pages.

I think that looks like a good list. You might have trouble finding Mr. Incredible. If you see Peter Pan, he'll probably be with Wendy so you might add her. Captain Hook will probably be with Smee - so you could add him. The Genie's been out in MK with Aladdin and Jasmine. You might want to make some more "fairy pages" for the new Pixie Hollow meet and greet. This summer Darby (from my friends Tigger and Pooh) was out in the MK with Pooh and Tigger. I think you have a good plan for both your book and for autograph hunting.

I am not a crafty person, but what about those thin foam sheets that you can buy in different colors for a cover? You might could glue it to a piece of the cardstock or a piece of thin cardboard to make it more stiff. Just a suggestion!

Yeah, that might work too. Would you bind the book yourself then, or take it all to Kinkos? I definitely can't do the binding myself.

That's a good list! You can also usually see Mrs. Incredible and Frozone with Mr. Incredible. And depending on the park, you can see Eeyore and Piglet in addition to Pooh and Tigger.

I made personalized ones for the kids in May (their first trip!!), and it was lots of fun! I found small scrapbooks in the Target Dollar Spot for $.25, so they had perfect sized, hard back autograph books.

I'm really excited about DS's autograph book this time, though!!

I used Snapfish. And waited...and waited...and waited for a discount code!! Haha!!

Artscow.com has free photo books (they're fairly young and trying to get their name out there), but I already had all my Disney pics on Snapfish. He loved his book last time, so he's going to have a blast with this one!!

Hmmm, it sounds like the only thing I do differently is in Power Point I insert picture from file (not clip art). Try that and see if it works differently for you.

OK, I figured it out. On the clip art website, I need to click onto the character to have it open a larger image. It is then in a larger pixel format. So if I save from that point (actually I just have to right click copy, then paste into Power Point) the image is much clearer. I was not clicking into the picture to view a larger image, so the image had much lower pixels. Looks great now!
