Autograph books and Markers?

With my project of 10 Autograph books and Passports getting into full swing I have been doing a lot of looking to get ideas. I came across a site that sales homemade books and it said the characters wouldn't use markers to sign books. I have been reading here to use good archive quality or sharpies and large ones because it easier for some of them to hold to sign with. Can someone let this crazy Gramma know what they are using?

I used a sharpie which worked well with my autograph pages which were 4x6. The only drawback to sharpie markers is if you look at the characters hands/gloves...you will see that they are pretty marked up and if you aren't careful to get the marker back before you hug them...you will get marked as well. My niece had a bibbity boppity boo make over and one of the characters marked all over the back of her princess dress with a sharpie after he signed her book. We had several t-shirts that were marked as well by characters.

We used the Sharpies that you click last week. There were no problems with the characters. My 5 year old, however was covered in Sharpie some days. I had to make a rule that he could not click his Sharpie until he was walking up to the character! I have read some posts that said characters would not use green Sharpies. We had a lime/neon green one and they used it.

Just had one more thought on Sharpie's...Peter Pan is the only character that has his own pen that he signs autographs with and it is a green sharpie.

We used Sharpies and pen-- I wouldn't go with pen, I liked the look of the sharpie marker and I used a strong enough paper (cardstock) that it didn't bleed through.
