Aulani Owners Thread - ALOHA!

3.7% increase….

Fantastic!
No matter how you measure, the 3.69% increase this year is below average for AUL. Definitely a relief!

3.69% increase this year drops the 5yr CAGR from 4.43% to 3.97% (the 3.69% increase replaces a 5.99% increase).

And increases the 10yr CAGR to 4.51% from 4.25% (the 3.69% increase replaces a 1.16% increase).

Lifetime CAGR for AUL dropped from 4.18% to 4.15%.

As a subsidized owner who also owns at VGF and is attempting to buy BLT, I wonder if the $7.6090 will be the lowest dues/pt of any of my (numerous) resorts in 2025.

I made a post in the Aulani forum but haven’t seen much feedback. Thinking of doing Aulani in 2026 with a kid or two, at least one person in their forties (probably me) and two eighty plus year olds (my mother and her cousin). Do you think Aulani can make a good multigenerational trip? I suspect we would all fit in a 2 bedroom. My mom sounds excited about it and I hope it can be a good time for all of us!

What makes you concerned that it wouldn’t work for a multi-generational trip?

I guess I just haven’t heard of people bringing grandparents there, like I often hear/see of at Disneyworld. Then again, I have never been there, so I really don’t know the first thing about Aulani!

Oh….. there are a LOT of multi-generational trips at Aulani. You definitely want to do your homework on excursions, seating challenges, dining and grocery options, etc… but the Ocean spans generations.

Thankful for this question about multi-generational. We'll be traveling with MIL, late 70s, DH and me, mid 50s, and 2 young adults, 17 and 20. Right off the bat, we want different things/activities, so we're trying to figure out how to approach daily excursions....MIL has done quite a bit of outdoor hiking over her lifetime, many national parks, etc. but is much, much more limited now, tires very easily, and can't do anything strenuous or for too long. So looking at Diamondhead, we're just wondering how best to plan. None of us have been to Hawaii, and are pretty clueless about all of it. Main focus for us will be enjoying the beautiful scenery, (well, and Pearl Harbor, that is THE must do,) so any and all recommendations on parks, sites, etc, that are fairly easily accessible are also appreciated. Thank you for this question here and on other thread!!

Best way to plan is to rent a car, or in this case, a mini-van. You'll have to pay for parking per night, unless you own/rent DVC points.

You are going to want a 2 bedroom DVC villa if you want to stay together. Five people can fit in a 1 bedroom villa but 1 2-bedroom would be more spacious and you'll have 3 real beds ( 1 king, 2 queens) and a queen sleeper sofa and sleeper chair. So, 5 sleeping surfaces.

The 2 bedroom signature suite from Aulani only has 3 sleeping surfaces (1 king, 1 queen, and 1 queen sleeper sofa)

Regardless of the time you go, 2 bedroom villas are pretty expensive and if you're not sure if you'd be changing dates, it's best to book with Disney (full refund) or an owner with flexibility or with a broker with flexibility.

The Aulani 1BD villas only have 1 bathroom….

While the 2BDs have 3 bathrooms with 2 showers….

This makes the 1BDs borderline pointless for our family of 4. You don’t realize how much showering you do when you are going to the pool/ocean. Also…. it’s tropical weather… and everyone wants a rinse off after going on any excursions.

Only putting 1 bathroom in the 1BD villa is such a huge miss, IMO and they should have continued the VGC/BLT room layouts like they did for the 2BDs.

So, I was at Star View Lounge recently and it happened to coincide with a “How to use your membership” presentation. They went around and asked everyone what their home resorts were and every family had Aulani as one of their home resorts!

I was the only one that also had a Grand Cal and one other family also had a Disneyland Hotel.

West Coast DVC!

We go out into the woods and cut our Christmas tree so this guy was a bit too heavy for our fresh tree branches. He will sit on the shelf this year because I can’t risk him breaking.
