Aulani Owners Thread - ALOHA!

We just bought an Aulani resale contract last month (stayed at Aulani in a cash, not rented points, studio villa this past summer) and out of curiosity, I watched a resort+room tour video on Youtube of the Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club.

Oh. My. Gosh.

I am SO glad we bought DVC instead of a different timeshare. The Marriott Ko Olina room was depressing. No decor that felt tropical or Hawaii or anything like that. Compared to the amazing pool complex at Aulani, the Marriott looked just "meh."

Haven't stayed yet at Aulani w/our points, but I'm already happy with our purchase! :-)
It is a lot quieter over there though. I think that is one of the more popular resorts in their system, but I have zero capacity to learn another time share program.

We walked down to the Marriott Ko Olina to meet up with friends staying there. Seemed very nice. Fun pool setup.

The Marriott owners can rent out reservations, so there are sites just like within the DVC ecosystem where you can browse available dedicated reservations and book them. The Marriott Ko Olina prices are not substantially lower than Aulani. But it's a great option if you have last-minute family or friends that want to tag along on the trip, because there tends to be quite a bit of rental inventory over there even just a few months out.

We’ll see what happens. That will a be rough few years of views on that side of the tower…..but it could come with additional dining and entertainment options.
I’m trying to picture it, but would they share lagoon 1 with aulani and the four seasons or would they use lagoon 2? Lagoon 1 right?

I don’t see a definitive timeline yet. So hopefully after our 1-bed island view stay in September. I requested that side for the stay.

The Atlantis project may be why so many Aulani contracts got put up for sale, some people may have caught wind of it and wanted out that were holding for investment and commercial renting. I wouldn’t think it would help Disney fill occupancy either for cash rentals with that much more supply in the market. Might have Disney get more aggressive on their sales prices at Aulani.

This is an interesting take.

It may be. For us, we bought into Aulani early and we went once. Now with grandchildren, we are using those points at 7 months at WDW. The allure of Aulani is overcome by the long and expensive flights.

On the Atlantis situation, here is another article. I also wonder if this is what spurred on the sale of so many Aulani contracts. This would change the dynamic of Ko Olina and Aulani DVC owners may think that the construction will turn off renters or the renters would instead want to visit the shiny new Atlantis instead of Aulani, making it less lucrative to rent out there. https://www.bizjournals.com/pacific...RaCOBLxk_jye5gEQow_aem_G5nbsd_1gcA2I2IxtTpIlw

For those interested, there is a thread about this in the Aulani forum: https://www.disboards.com/threads/atlantis-closer-to-happening.3960680/#post-65944131

I am cautiously optimistic and excited about Atlantis becoming a reality. I bought AUL for ourselves to use, and as long as we get OV units facing waikolohe valley, the adjacent properties won’t affect me (even during construction). Then I can get a day pass to Atlantis for their pools, and more dining options.

Is a day pass to Atlantis a thing?

Update: $200 a day…. that’s going to be a pass for me….
