We have 12 nights booked in Aulani in August - so very excited!!!! Our first time and celebrating daughter's sweet sixteen. I was hoping for a hotel room to save some points but was only able to get hotel room for the first 6 nights and book studio w/island garden view. I do have hotel room on a waitlist but not holding my breath for that one.
Are we making a mistake moving half-way thru our vacation? Would that be a huge hustle? Anyone has any experience with moving rooms?

Thank you very much for your input

We've only stayed at Aulani a couple of times and one time we got in our room around 3:00 PM and another around 1:00 PM. I would think that you would have a longer wait for a DVC hotel room over an island view as there are so few DVC hotel rooms (only 8).

Other than the hassle of having to pack, Disney will try to make it painless for you. You can check your bags will Bell Services (they'll even pick up if you call), and they'll store them until the new room is available. Pack a small day bag for each person, and hang out at the pool, or do some activities in the community room. It's really just a minor inconvenience, and the only way it can ruin such a fabulous trip is if you choose to make a big deal of it. :)

Thank you very much! I won't stress over it anymore :) The small day bag is a great idea, will definitely do that. Getting so excited :)

I just called about this today, we are planning something similar. The woman on the phone recommended that for the room we move into, rather than requesting a specific location or room #, we should just tell them we would like the first available room. If The resort isn't crowded, we may be able to move directly from one room to the next. She also recommended doing online check in for both rooms, to save time.

We moved rooms when we stayed at Aulani. We spent the first 3 nights in a garden view and then 10 nights in an ocean view, so two different categories. It was pretty seamless. The packing up is a bit of a pain, but I packed one bag for the first three days and only fully unpacked after we moved to our second room. The one benefit I credit to already being at the resort before our second check-in was that the CM at the front desk secured a great room for our ocean view.

We made sure to schedule a full day activity away from Aulani for our moving day so we wouldn't feel "homeless".

Thank you, we are moving from a hotel room to studio/Island Garden View. We are really excited just to be there, so I think any room will be fine. I will make sure I plan something for the day :)

We used the Luana Lounge on our final check-out day and it was a madhouse. It was during the Labor Day weekend, so that could be the reason for all the people in the lounge.

Regarding the Luana Lounge at Aulani, you now have to get a one time use card or a code from the check in desk to get into the lounge. I cannot remember exactly. We will be there on February 1st so will know more after we check out on February 9th.

How was the Luana Lounge?
