August/September Disneyers...let's get in shape for our trip!!

I'm baaaaaack!!!

Okay, here's what happened to me and why it appears I dropped off the face of the boards, lol. My DM forgot to pay the AT&T bill, and so she called them on Friday and made the payment. At that point, they were supposed to turn our internet back on...but it took until TODAY to actually get it back on. It's the kind of thing where I just roll my eyes and mutter the word, "Useless..." under my breath about the "customer service people". I don't know why they call them that, they certainly don't do a good job of keeping me serviced, lol.

But enough of that...

I have not felt like doing much of anything as far as tracking or water or BLC-HH points this week. I'm staying on plan for the most part, but I just don't feel like doing it this week, I need a break. I just started a new job last Thursday that I LOVE  and have been so exhausted by the time I get home I don't feel like doing anything. I have been walking every night though, and have been drinking lots of water and eating pretty healthy...with a couple little treats here and there. One of the things I really like about my new job is that I am constantly moving- I am able to sit for a morning break and for lunch, but that's really it. The other 7-ish hours, I'm up and walking and moving. This Friday though, I am back on the wagon full-time, doing the challenges and everything :) And hopefully I might even have a loss to report to you guys on Friday!!

It feels good to be back!

Welcome back Kaiti! We've missed you! Here's hoping for a loss!:thumbsup2

171.5 lbs today at weight in :cool1::cool1:

I am starting to believe that diet and exercise really do work better than wishing and hoping :thumbsup2 Only 16 lbs away from my WDW goal weight.
Just over 6 week left and I am averaging 2.8 lbs per week which should put me under 160 for Mickey :)

That is so great Cathy! I'm so happy for you!!! Keep up the amazing work you've been doing!

That's AWESOME, Cathy!!!!! I'm gonna start using your techniques and weigh-in in front of people! That's so awesome for you, you should post some pictures!!

Hi Ladies! It's Friday and sadly, I don't have a loss to report!

I was afraid that my first week of holidays wouldn't go well (too weekend-like) and my fears were realized.

Looking back, I know what mistakes I made:

- Eating what/when the kids eat. When we were all at school I packed a different healthy lunch for me and ate when I was hungry. Now that we're all home together I find myself munching away when they're hungry and eating what they're eating (stuff I wouldn't have packed for myself).

- Treating myself too often. There were many times when I found myself popping something yummy in my mouth and saying to myself "It's my first week of holidays, one won't hurt." Well, that stuff adds up! Ugh!

All I can do now is learn from those mistakes and move forward.

For those of you having success, can you remind me of your willpower strategies??? Thanks!!

-Tara

I'm in the same boat, Tara- my new job has me moving a LOT more than my old one, so I've been telling myself I can have one more bite of this, one more taste of that...but all those tastes and bites have been adding up all too quickly! I actually have a gain this week. But I had a super lost last time I weighed in. So maybe I just equalized :confused3 That's what I'm going with, anyway!

One of my strategies is to tell myself I'm just thirsty. Unless I'm actually hungry, this works pretty well. It seems like I'm just looking to give my mouth something to do, lol. The other thing I do is to take three minutes and think about what would happen if I did eat that cookie/pasta with cheese/candy bar. And usually I don't like the answer :sad2: That's what works for me. I just know I can't have "just one more bite" of something because I won't stop. And then I go online and find a healthy alternative instead! Like for example, instead of chips, I slice up cucumbers and dip them in rice vinegar...so yummy!!

Thank you to all for the support :grouphug:

This weekend will be a challenge. MY DD is having her 16th birthday party. She is having 5 friends stay for the weekend. My home which has been junk food free since May has M&M's, Doritios, Cheetios, Oreo's, along with Ice cream and cake plus Pizza will be here tonight. :scared1::scared1: Teenage girls eat a lot.

I think I may lose it this weekend. I love Cheetios!!!! Wish me luck and will power.

Oh to be 16 again and be able to eat like that!! Good luck Cathy!!!!

Kaiti, thanks for the tips! And here's to a loss this coming week for both of us for sure! We can do it!:thumbsup2

You can do it, Cathy!! You've been doing so well, and this weekend will be over before you know it...it's already Saturday afternoon! If you need any distraction, I'm sure the Dis could provide plenty :thumbsup2

You're right, we CAN do it!! I actually need to update my ticker to reflect my latest loss...I've been so busy I haven't even thought about it til just now!

SpartanKid24....Congrats on joining WW. :thumbsup2

Kaiti.. I too try to drink water whenever I think I am hungry...I have never had rice vinger, may have to give it a try.

Tara, not having the structure of work for the summer would be tough. I always have a harder time staying on track in the weekends. It is too easy when you can eat whenever you want rather than having time limitations.

I failed at having will power yesterday. I ate cake, ice cream, doritos, and 2 slices of pizza... :guilty:On the other hand considering the amount of time I spent running to the bathroom all night with an upset stomach I may have actually loss weight. I have learned my lesson, I am too old and my body can not handle that type of food anymore. It was back to the bran flakes w/ skim milk this morning.

On the up side I did walk 3 miles and rode my bike along the same 3 mile path yesterday.

This was a tough week emotionally for me. Some added unexpected stress that won't likely go away anytime soon. I just need to not obsess about things I can't change and that no matter what happens I will make it out just fine on the other side. However, I only let that stress ruin my plan to start with some exercise, but did not allow myself to eat away the stress.

I am happy to report a 1.4lb loss as of Friday, making a total of just under 15lbs in 2 months. Here's to another 15 before vacation.

I also spent an hour at the pool last night and today - most of it treading water in the deep end where DH can stand but I have to work to stay afloat. I'm so sleepy now - an early night I think.

Cathy - glad that you were able to learn from the junk food experience and were able to right back on track today.

I'm down another 0.8 pounds!! :cool1: I'm RIGHT at 160... only 10 more pounds to go! I have...oh wait I have to count...

...10 weeks until Disney.

Wow that's fitting- 1 pound a week!!! I can do it....I can do it....I can do it!!!

This morning for breakfast I had a breakfast cookie. I have a youtube of me making it if anyone is interested in the recipe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyxgW9hENuo I make this when I travel too- we had it EVERY DAY at WDW last trip. Easypeasy.

Then for lunch I have an egg salad sandwich on sprouted wheat bread (made out of a whole egg, an egg white (both hardboiled last night) with salt, pepper, and mustard. YUM. And for snacks, or to add to my lunch, I have a plum, nectarine, and baggie full of almonds with me (at work).

Tonight I'm not sure what to make for dinner... probably a lentil and brown rice mix topped with cucumber, mushrooms, tomatoes (for me, DH hates tomatoes!), and garlic. Last night we had 'stuffed potatoes', which is 1/2 of a cooked potato, which I topped with a little bit of coconut oil (instead of butter), sauteed broccoli and garlic, salsa, and cheese.

Thanks for the support everybody!!! :cheer2:

Awesome:cool1::cool1: Thanks for the recipes. I will be sure to look up the breakfast cookie video. You are doing great and 10 in 10 should be easy. :thumbsup2

1.4 loss under stress is incredible:) Just imagine how great you are going to feel walking around WDW 30 lbs lighter ... I have found that the weight loss has made me feel better and handle stress a little better. You seem to have a GREAT attitude towards your stress. :cheer2:

Took a short walk on my lunch hour today! It wasn't very long, but I think it was at least 15 min! A walk is a walk! Especially when I sit....all....day.....long....:surfweb:

Went to the gym yesterday and it felt soo good to be there :-) Did 10 min on the treadmill, 30 minute circuit workout, and then another 15 on the elliptical sp? I'm so glad to be getting into a routine with exercising! Can't wait for my second weigh in this Thursday! Hoping that working out isn't causing me to plateau...

Cathy, it sounds like your body had some natural consequences for you. I wish I had a negative reaction to Doritos. They tend to sit well with me...not good!!!! You sound like you're back on track! Keep up the great work!

Stephanie, SD and spartankid, you gals are doing great! Keep up the exercise/weight loss! Congratulations!

I have some bad news. My back gave out again and hasn't been this bad since 2009. I was diagnosed with three compressed discs back then but had been well for so long. I'm very sad right now. Sitting and walking hurt. Laying down is the only way I don't have pain. I'm going to restart my physiotherapy regimen and try to eat well. But with little movement, it looks like I'll put my weight-loss on hold and try to maintain the 10 lbs lost so far for awhile (ie. not gain it back my eating while laying on the couch!) It sucks to be incapacitated for summer holidays! Plus I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding this weekend (not sure what I'm going to do yet...don't want to think about it) and then there's Disney in 6 weeks! I better be on my feet well before then!!!!!

Tara, you poor thing I am so sorry your back gave out. :sad2: I was watching Dr. Oz today and he was said that putting an ice pack on your upper back for 30 minutes twice a day actually helps you burn calories. So I figure you can do that while laying down. you could also get on the calorieking website and calculate the number of calories needed to maintain your current weight without excerise and just make sure you stay in that range.

I hope you feel better before your trip. :flower3:

Holding steady at 160 for day 3. At least I'm not gaining! :goodvibes

Had a breakfast cookie and peach for breakfast, home made granola bar for a snack, eggsalad sandwich on sprouted bread, 1/2 raw cucumber for lunch, nectarine for a snack.... and I have NO idea what to make for dinner. :confused3 Hoping to get in at least 20 min of activity after work, but I have to pick up DH at 5pm then we have to go across town to pick up his van from the shop.... so by the time we get home it'll be close to 6:30pm... then I have to make dinner.... clean up dinner... that brings us to around 7:15. Meh, I should still have some time I think.

Thanks for the well wishes Cathy! I saw my doctor today and got some good meds. Chiropractor and maybe massage tomorrow and physiotherapist as soon as I can get in. Still not sure about the wedding I'm in on Saturday. I haven't told the bride about my predicament yet.:scared1:Advice?

SD, reading about what you ate makes me feel really guilty about having pizza for lunch and a hot dog for dinner (DH is cooking while I'm incapacitated, can you tell??) I'll ask him to make me a spinach salad tomorrow! You are all keeping me motivated to not totally lose control! Even though my meals haven't been good, I've not been snacking like I used to (there is no snacky junk food in my house right now). That's an improvement over a few months ago!

You can only do what you can do!! MMMM I love spinach salads!!

Last night for dinner we had veggie burgers on sprouted bread with homemade hummus (I made it in a FLASH... recipe below), spinach, and a tiny bit of cheese. We also had a sliced up cucumber and a few "Spinach Bites" by Dr. Praeger (I got them at Meijer... DH likes them... he's such a kid ). Dessert was a cut up mango. VERY filling meal, but also very good.

Breakfast today was Gluten Free Oats (1/2 cup) topped with berries, 2t Flax Meal (Bob's red mill organic), a small drizzle of coconut oil, and heaps of cinnamon.

For lunch/snacks at work, I have a homemade granola bar, nectarine, and a salad made out of cucumber, hardboiled egg, salt, pepper, and mustard. I think I'm going to need to make a starbucks run for a big (venti) tea to kinda... keep me satisfied... this afternoon. No idea what to do for dinner tonight.

Easypeasy Hummus Recipe

1 can chickpeas (I prefer organic... Trader Joes or Meijer brand), rinsed
1 clove garlic, or 1t garlic powder, or 1t minced garlic (to taste)
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Juice of 1/2 Lemon
1/2 cup water (give or take, depending on how thick you like your hummus)

Process/blend everything together in a food processor.

Done.

:rotfl:

It's so good, and has less calories than normal hummus because I leave out the tahini.
