August/September Disneyers...let's get in shape for our trip!!

Stephanie.... welcome, :thumbsup2 I have a DD who will be 16 in a few days. She too has decided that she would rather workout than watch what she eats. She is on the treadmill 1 hour per day. Eats whatever she wants and has loss 10lbs in the past 4 months. She is heathly and muscular at 5'2 and 120lbs... Like most older people I get nervous when ever I hear a young girl concerned about her weight, even though at one time I was a younger girl concerned about my weight.

We are all hear to support you and your recommitment to working out. :yay:

Hello! That's really great for your DD! I have always wanted a treadmill, but we don't have any extra room in our house for one. :sad2:

I'm not TOO concerned about my weight, it's just that I'd like to drop a couple more pounds because I always end up gaining when I come back from Disney. But of course, I have no regrets after eating all that delicious food. :lmao: I'm really proud of myself for being at a healthy weight now after being a chubby kid for most of my life. :goodvibes

Thank you!!

i am losing my motivation :confused3 I have been at 174.5 for over a week and I miss not having to think about everything I eat. I know I should be happy with a 20lbs lost but I feel stuck and depressed. We leave for WDW in 48 more days and I so badly wanted to be at least 160 by then. I would so like to be able to post a pic of myself on Facebook and not be horrified.:scared1: Work has been rough this week :surfweb:and I hate mean people.

Thanks needed to vent:grouphug:

:goodvibesSending you good vibes Cathy! 20 lbs is amazing! Be proud. Maybe have a cheat day (eat a few things you've been craving most) and then get back on track. I've heard that cheating on your diet once it awhile helps keep your metabolism up. You might have been too good, that's why you are stuck! You might not get to 160 by your trip but you could easily get close, so go for it!!!! You can do it!

Welcome Stephanie! When I saw your first post I was worried because you are 5'6" and in the 120s to 130s which is DEFINITELY NOT overweight! I'm glad that your above post seems to clarify that you're proud that you got to a healthy weight and you want to be sure to maintain it! Great job! And exercise is awesome! Don't obsess about your food, though (as long as you are moderate). Eat healthy options often but at your age, when you are still developing, it's important not to under-eat!

Happy to report a loss this week despite slipping into some bad lunch habits. We got a new scale which was .5-1lb heavier than the old scale. I weighed the same this week on the new scale as on the old one so my loss is somewhere in that .5-1lb range. I had stopped eating my salad and small sandwich (brought from home) the last 2 weeks and bought deli sandwiches and salads from the chain stores. Definitely not as healthy for my body or my wallet. Starting Tuesday I'll be back to healthier lunches and hopefully that will help with bigger losses.

Tonight we are going out to my favorite steakhouse, Shula's, for my birthday and I'll have a big ole prime rib and I'm not going to worry about enjoying it. DH also bought me a cake and I can't wait to have some. But once the birthday fun is over, it's back on track.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHANIE!! We all agreed that scales and dieting do not go with birthdays! Also, congrats on the loss! Glad you have good plans to be on track this coming week! Have a great one!

-Tara

I did (finally) get in the 170s this week! I was 179.6 lbs today. A week off schedule but after two very indulgent weekends I'm happy. This week I was so good that I lost what I gained on the weekend plus 1.2 lbs. I'm now just about half way to my goal of losing 20 lbs by Disney! Only just over 10 more to go!

Thanks for all of your support ladies! How's everyone doing?

I hope you all enjoy your long 4th of July weekend! It's Canada Day today so we're going to my sister's to swim and watch fireworks later. There will be lots of food but I NEVER want to see the 180's again so I'll be good!

-Tara

Update as Canada Day weekend comes to a close: I did better than I would have on a normal long weekend but not great. (Any control suggestions??)

You know how I said I'm NEVER going to see the 180's again. It's true because I'm not getting on the scale today or tomorrow. I'm going to have a cleansing day tomorrow and see how it's looking on Tuesday!

What a brillant idea..LOL:rotfl: I think I will avoid the scale myself for a few days.

Went shopping today and bought a swimsuit .... WDW is getting closer!!!!:banana::banana:

Oh my goodness, I'm getting so excited for Disney too! Want to share plans? (This will keep my mind off food for now!)

We are going for 7 nights, staying at POP, with DDP, arriving on August 24th. It's our first family trip (although I've been when I was 10 and 21). My DH has never been! I'm the most excited out of everyone because the kids and hubby have no idea what they're in for. I've read, researched, memorized maps, planned all the meals, etc. I feel like I've been there a million times! Here's our itinerary (I'll try to keep it brief). Suggestions welcome!

Day 1 - arrival :woohoo: (plane lands at 2ish I think), check in, tour POP, dinner at Kona Cafe at 5:30, evening in Magic Kingdom
Day 2 - more MK, dinner at Whispering Canyon, bed early
Day 3- Epcot day! Including princess dinner at Akershus and Illuminations
Day 4 - Chef Mickey's brunch, then maybe a water park and Downtown Disney (sort of a rest day)
Day 5 - DHS including lunch at Mama Melrose and Fantasmic! at night
Day 6 - AK including dinner buffet at Tusker House
Day 7 - water park day and/or resort time (likely back to MK for a bit after 1900 Park Fare dinner with Cindrella's royal family)
Day 8 - maybe time for a few early hours at favourite park (?) in am then back to airport :sad1:

Ladies...tell me about your plans! (Although this didn't really take my mind off food because all the dinner reservations are such a big part of the trip, it did make me happy!)

-Tara

Happy 4th of July to everyone!!!

Cathy, that's so crazy that we'll both be eating at Kona on the 24th! We'll also both be at MK on the 25th and AK on the 29th! (We both sought out the am EMH! I just hope we can get up that early! My kids are little and NEED their sleep. If they need to sleep I'll let them, I've promised not to be a dictator on vacation!)

When we get closer to the date, we should tell each other what we're wearing to Kona on the 24th so we can say hi if we spot each other. I know you'll be a mom with a DH and 2 teens. I have the same family-type minus 9 years! Older girl (7), younger boy (5)

Sounds like a great trip! You must have DxDP! I'm jealous! ;)

We stopped using the dining plan a few years ago. Since we get annual passes we just get TiW card which is great for us since we like food and alcohol. Since I like appetizer and DH likes dessert and we don't like much CS we found that DDP wasn't enough (or the right kind of meals) and DxDDP was too much. Thankfully we have the option to get TiW which fits us much better - also it gets us a discount at Swan and Dolphin restaurants like Shulas.

I haven't posted in a while but I am still on track. I weighed in Saturday and lost .8 lbs:cool1:. That is a total of 1.2 lbs. Slowly but surely, the tortoise wins the race;). I really need to catch up with this thread.

Alrighty! I'm here to report that my mom and I have successfully joined weight watchers in hopes that we can get to a healthy weight with the help of an eating program! :thumbsup2: As of today, I am 5 pounds lighter than my first post!!! I know that healthy weight loss is 1 or two pounds per week, but let's just say that I am a bigger girl with LOTS to lose, so hopefully this is a jumpstart for me! Yeah, as for my plans...I'd like to share too!

8/14 - arrival day, coming in by train, then checking in. getting refillable mug and unpacking, then probably pool and DTD that night.
8/15 - MK day, so excited! We have Ohana reservations at 9:25pm, hoping to catch the fireworks.
8/16 - Epcot day! Lunch reservations at Le Cellier 11:25am, and dinner at Teppen Edo at 8:10pm.
8/17 - AK day! No table service meals this day, but we are going to cirque du soleil that night..I've never been, so I'm looking forward to it!
8/18 - Typhoon Lagoon/HS - Planning on purchasing a day pass to TL for a morning/early afternoon water park day, then heading to HS for the rest of the night. We then have the Hoop Dee Doo dinner show at 9:30pm Cat. 1.
8/19 - MK day again w/ EMH til 2am!! We're going to take an afternoon break and go mini golfing, then we have dinner reservations at Kouzzina on the Boardwalk at 7:05pm, then back to MK til 2am!!
8/20 - AK day again! Dinner reservations at 8:10pm at Chef Mickey's! DTD that night maybe?
8/21 - HS day! Fantasmic! "Dinner" Package reservation at Mama Melrose's at 2:15pm. Staying for F!
8/22 - Last park day...Epcot! Dinner reservations at Coral Reef at 5:25pm, staying for fireworks, then back to POP to pack, unfortunately!
8/23 - Heading home, flight out at 6pm, going to pack then maybe hit DTD one more time before ME.

So looking forward to this much needed trip with mom!

Congrats on the loses ZweetiePie and Spartankid!!

Spartankid, you're trip sounds amazing. I think that, depending how DH feels about his first trip, next time we'll plan two days in each park too! Our itinerary is jam-packed into 6 full days and two half days on either end. Our flight out of Orlando on the 31st is scheduled for 3:30 pm. What time do you think they'll have us meet M.E?? I hope not too early!

- Tara

Hi Tara!

When I planned this trip for my mom and I, I for sure kept in mind that we wanted to relax and not be running around to try and fit everything in. Even with two days in each park I know we're not going to get everything in, but at least we'll have some relaxing time :woohoo: As far as ME pickups go, I'm pretty sure they usually schedule you 3 hours before your flight out. So I would assume you'd have a 12:30pm pickup time. This is just based off of what I've read so far, haha, the last time I went was 14 years ago, and relly don't remember ME or if it even existed back then. I hope you have an awesome trip though, just remember...you're in DISNEY!!!! :yay:

Sounds like a plan:thumbsup2... By the third day of vacation my DD is usually in bed by 9:30pm... On the other hand my DS could stay up all night. I prefer to get up early get, take a nap mid day and then back to the parks at night.

I'm baaaaaack!!!

Okay, here's what happened to me and why it appears I dropped off the face of the boards, lol. My DM forgot to pay the AT&T bill, and so she called them on Friday and made the payment. At that point, they were supposed to turn our internet back on...but it took until TODAY to actually get it back on. It's the kind of thing where I just roll my eyes and mutter the word, "Useless..." under my breath about the "customer service people". I don't know why they call them that, they certainly don't do a good job of keeping me serviced, lol.

But enough of that...

I have not felt like doing much of anything as far as tracking or water or BLC-HH points this week. I'm staying on plan for the most part, but I just don't feel like doing it this week, I need a break. I just started a new job last Thursday that I LOVE  and have been so exhausted by the time I get home I don't feel like doing anything. I have been walking every night though, and have been drinking lots of water and eating pretty healthy...with a couple little treats here and there. One of the things I really like about my new job is that I am constantly moving- I am able to sit for a morning break and for lunch, but that's really it. The other 7-ish hours, I'm up and walking and moving. This Friday though, I am back on the wagon full-time, doing the challenges and everything :) And hopefully I might even have a loss to report to you guys on Friday!!

It feels good to be back!

171.5 lbs today at weight in :cool1::cool1:

I am starting to believe that diet and exercise really do work better than wishing and hoping :thumbsup2 Only 16 lbs away from my WDW goal weight.
Just over 6 week left and I am averaging 2.8 lbs per week which should put me under 160 for Mickey :)
