August - September 2013 Room-only Discounts

So, is it weird that when I first heard about the speculation being correct, I felt so relieved for Joe and 411 and everyone? Lol, I was worried there would be a DISboards uprising if nothing was released today! :)

Joe, can you post something to this thread for when you start an October room only discount discussion? That is, if you decide to at all...pretty please?

Anyone know if the royal guest rooms at riverside are included?

Yes, they were an option when I made my reservation at POR earlier today, so if they're available for your dates, you should be good.

At least for the room discount I included a disclaimer that nothing is ever 100%.

Of course I'll let you know when I do another thread. I've friended you and I'll post and message you all.

If you go RO, do they offer a bit of a discount on tickets as well to entice one to switch to a package or are the tickets full price? If there is a discount, does anyone know what the percentage might be, on average?

Great threads (this and the FD offer).

I booked a package with room and tickets. Only the room was discounted; tickets were full price. Not sure there is any advantage to booking a package!

I thought that would be the case, but had to ask. Thank you for the reply.

Non- discounted rooms can be added at the end of a reservation but if said room is at the start it has to be a separate reservation and any time you have more than one resort they will be separate reservations each requiring a separate deposit. They try to keep you in the same room whenever possible but you do need to check-in for each reservation

Thanks, but they would each be discounted but under different "offers". This is another one of those "If I ran the world...I would make X a lot easier to do!" LOL

Slept on it and will do it-provided that the rooms will be available still.

What flustered me most was that the CM I spoke with was one of those that I knew more about both the type of room (eg CLGVYC won't fit a family of 5) and what I wanted to do than she did...

Thanks!

Just wondering if any Disney Visa holders have had luck booking Wilderness Lodge at 30% discount yet? Haven't seen any posts about WL yet and am just hoping standard or woods view will be available for our stay 8/15-8/18.

Thanks so much,
Kim

Yup!

This is probably a really silly question, but our reservation is at ASMo. I wanted to stay there over the other values because of the theming. There's no discount for it but I'm wondering if it really makes a difference which you stay at at the all stars since you can visit them all/pool hop. Is it worth the like 70 bucks I'd save to switch or does it not really matter?

When are you staying? There is 5% off of Movies for that late summer discount.

Thank you keeping my fingers crossed. Already have it reserved just hoping I could apply the discount when it goes to GP

So guys, it looks like you late-August folks will get someting after all.

Cheers Everyone!!!

Why are so many posters saying that Movies didn't get any discount?
Not that it was too low, but that it didn't get any???
Between this post quoted above, and the fact that I got a RO discount on my room at Movies, I can verify they do indeed get a discount. :thumbsup2

Now, as to WHY it got such a piddling one...who knows?
The CM I worked with said it was because it's the most popular of the AS resorts. :confused3

Assuming their are rooms left in this deal we will be able to up our stay by two nights, with dining plan, for a little over $165. Not too bad.

Ditto!!

I would like to all of you who post the info you have, know, or have reason to think will be helpful to all of us. It is soooooo appreciated!

I have been here on the boards, and prior to this year, had no knowledge of all your helpful knowledge with regard to possible discounts. Of course I have relied on the disboards for most discount information, but with regard to specific date (possibilities), I had no knowledge.

This has been so helpful to me this year with the unusual ways Disney has chosen to release their discounts. We have received either RO or FD discounts for more years than I can remember, it has become almost expected. It looks Disney is keeping us on our toes! I was on the verge of changing dates (and then trying to juggle adrs) so many times!! The information the three of you, and so many more have posted has helped me to keep my wits about me. I was able to get 20% off room only, based on my travel dates, which is better than the no discount at all I thought I would have based on travel during the last two weeks of August.

What I am taking away from this year's booking experience is this:

Take advantage of bounce back discounts!!!!!

For our family, for the foreseeable future, we will travel at approximately the same time period, with the same number of travelers, at the same resort. (Hopefully at least!) If I am lucky enough to find that lovely bounce back flyer in my room, I will, without fail, call before we check out! I will have a whole lot less stress next year at this time!

Thanks again, and good luck to all!

Amen on BB! We will be this time.

Yes on Thursday the 9th.

I've updated the first post of this thread with more detail by the way....just so everyone is on the same page.

You are my most favorite person in the whole world! Thank you for everything!

It's not listed as having any kind of discount on the Disney web site. I guess it's still worth it to call and see though?

I know it seems if a resort is not listed it will get a 5% discount, happened to me with CR TPV one year when I called and inquired.
