August 9th, 2021 Dream

The itinerary change is such a weird situation. Changes do happen, but I would have expected activities scheduled for Castaway Cay to change along with the itinerary…likewise with brunch reservations that now look as though they are on Castaway Cay day rather than our day at sea. Whether it was a system glitch or the activity changes just haven’t caught up to the itinerary change remains to be seen. With luck, they will have everything straightened out before 9 August…

My guess is now that we are leaving later we need more time to get to Nassau, hence the sea day. And yes, don't worry about the activities, those will surely straighten out. I've been on cruises where we had to change days like this due to weather and they do tell us then, all activities change with the day. I'm guessing things just haven't caught up yet.

I love your last line...WE NEED TO MAKE OTHER PLANS ASAP... IF WE NEED TO!!!

Ironically I was just coming here to see if anyone else feels like they have hit their breaking point. I have been very understanding, and I knew gong in there would be some waiting and uncertainty but 3 weeks from now I will have landed at MCO. I have no idea what my plans are at this point. Well I have a few ideas but I don't know what I actually am doing. And prices are changing, and I'm worried about parks filling up, etc...

All along I have been saying if we actually get on the ship the waiting will be so worth it. I'm getting close to changing my mind and saying, just cancel it if you don't know. This is ridiculous now.

Thanks for letting me vent! ;)

I feel like all the joy and excitement of vacation planning has been sucked out of this. I haven't shared any of the details about the CSO and all of the other "what ifs" with my family because frankly I don't think they would understand. I don't even understand it all and I have been the one to do all the research. I also don't want to bring them down this bummer of a road. I am super close to canceling and booking Celebrity to Alaska. I'll be taking a hit on my DVC points. And airfare went up significantly. Just a bummer all around. I'm glad we have this group - we all know what everyone else is going through. :grouphug:

Yes we are good therapy for each other. No one truly gets it but us...and probably the 8/13 cruisers too. ;)

I do chuckle when I see posts from people sailing in October or January, whenever, who are so upset they know nothing yet. Hold my beer as they say! Or in this case, hold my Tropical Depression! :rotfl:

It was for UK sailings - not US 😭 I thought they had made some decisions but sadly no.
Still no answers for us.

That was why I thought it was interesting...it seemed exactly the same as theirs which seemed odd. :rotfl:

An update ....I was the one that posted Disney's response to guidelines, not knowing my "friend" Diane enthusiastically sent me the UK guidelines. Well when I asked her for guidelines on US sailings, she replied with this. I give up. And just to be clear, I don't know a James Wild. Do any of you?

Edited to add: Poor Diane, she really doesn't know which end is up. She doesn't even have spell check apparantly!

OMG! :rotfl2: I’m dying! Maybe the DCL reps are going just as crazy as we are.

For those who haven’t heard yet, the itinerary is now showing us as a double dip! 🥰

I should have known they would finally release their information while we were away from home - first, for a basketball tournament in the D.C. area that our daughter was playing in and then an annual long weekend we take in upstate NY (we are from NYC). Now home, we are still trying to digest it all.

I hope you had a good time.

We did, thank you.

Been a crazy couple of days since getting back home trying to digest all the info DCL put out, create the Safe Passage accounts and upload our vax cards, cancel the alternate plans we made in case we did not sail, trying to finalize our plans for the night before, etc. We are flying into Tampa 8/5 to visit family for a few days, will drive across the state on 8/8, and likely stay in a hotel near the port that allows us to keep our rental car (minivan, actually) parked there during the cruise and will shuttle us to/from the port. While seems crazy and nonsensical (but these are crazy and nonsensical times we are living in) to have a rental just sitting in a parking lot for 4 days, actually works out cheaper and easier in this case since most rental companies closed their locations in Cape Canaveral last year and have not reopened yet, with I believe, the exception of Avis & Budget - who are the same company - but are charging insane rates to return at Cape Canaveral on 8/9. Then, we would still have to pay for transfers (either DCL bus or other) to get from port to MCO after disembarking. So we'll just keep the rental reservation we had from the alternate plans, returning the vehicle to MCO on 8/13.

All in all, this has been one of the craziest planning experiences ever the last several months. Between not knowing if we'd sail, trying to decide on and make alternate plans, the radio silence from DCL, it's been quite the roller coaster ride...and not the good kind.

Oh my gosh! there is so much involved this time. I still have to cancel my back up hotel, which I am hesitant to do. Im so afraid as soon as I do something will go wrong and I'll end up needing it. Then I would have lost the good rate I got. I also have 2 more meals that might need to be canceled but I'm waiting to se if my son and his GF want them (they live in Celebration). They aren't giving me an answer.

I feel the same way. I'm hesitant to cancel the alternate plans. We weren't going to hit the parks as we have a WDW trip planned for the spring. We were going to stay at Bonnett Creek and also have ADRs at for dinners at 'Ohana and Homecomin'. I'll hold off a few more days before canceling.

The cruise did get a little more real with the arrival of our DU gift basket today. Next up...luggage tags? Although two separate people in the FB group for our sailing called DCL today about the luggage tags, and in typical Disney fashion, one was told luggage tags are going out now while another was told they will not be sent and you'll just give your stateroom # to the porters when you arrive. :confused3
