August 27, 2006 4 night Wonder

We are leaving wed. night. Headed to the Caribbean Beach Resort for three nights, then to the ship!! pirate: We will be there for pub night too. We will see you all at the goofy pool. Can't wait to meet all of you. Pub night sounds great, We will be there.
DW :bride:

Hobbitmomma, how do you know that you're already doing the martini tasting???
Was there a sign-up sheet that I missed?!? Oh man, I hate when I miss that stuff #%@!!
I think you are onto something with the idea to have the PubNight the first night...Disney, are you listening??
You know, I am told that this work 'til you drop before you leave for vacation is a true "american" phenomenon. I read somewhere that the average american vacation is only 3-4 days and that most americans don't take their allowed vacation days every year...pretty sad, huh?
Just curious, how many posters on our thread take their max vacation days each year? :confused3
I know we don't and we often work even on vacation :stir:
We leave thursday morning for the Animal Kingdom Lodge.. I am really looking forward to that as I have never seen the inside of the lodge but hear the views to the Savannah are amazing

No, there was no sign up sheet. We saw it listed on a sample Navigator and my husband and I both said, "We're there!" I think that it is at Diversions, and you sign up at Guest Services.

Yes, my husband has been working late all week and he will be working on Sunday as well. They are getting every last drop of blood that they can before he goes away! He usually ends up using all of his vacation time because none of his family live here. So, he takes time off when they visit. We just had a gang in town in July. Then his father will visit in December. I teach, so I will be busy as soon as we return. I've been very busy making sure that everything is taken care of for my folks before I leave. Being sandwiched between aging parents and young children is not fun! At least my sister is coming in from Tucson to stay with my dad so that I don't have to worry on vacation. Whew!

No Pub night for me. I don't believe in drinking alcohol so I'll pass.

Moose,
I believe on deck 7 all the way in the back you get the secret elevator that takes you to the front of the ship.

The pizza is from Dominos. They still deliver in 20 minutes or it's free. Order off the internet when you are out in the ocean.

The casino is on deck one right next to the infirmary. You actually have to go through the infirmary to get in the casino and you need to know the secret handshake.

The crew sleeps at castaway Cay and they fly them in by helicopter about 4:30am every day.

Hope that helps.

Bill

Bill,
The "Pub Night" is actually known for its comedy show not its drinking activities. The comedian that does it does another show that is for everyone and G-rated but this is adults only--I'm sure in a "Disney-approved" way.
Given your humor, I think you'd like it.

:confused3 - Refresh my memory again...where are we all meeting on the first day of the cruise...is it still Promanade Lounge at 3:00 - everyone here is very excited about the vacation. Me, busy doing laundry and getting ready to pack. We leave on Thursday, but it come fast when you are finally packing. Hope to see all there....are we really wearing leis? I don't have any yet so I am just checking. Thanks. :confused3

O.K. I know I said I would check in in a couple of days but I missed you all :lovestruc . We arrived at 10:45 am and had an uneventful trip. I would recommend arriving an extra 30 minutes prior to departures for the initial baggage check. That part took a while, unfortunately. It seemed like Delta was the only one with all the bombsniffing machines though. After the baggage check the security check was really no different than the usual post 9/11 stuff. The kids loved the flight. It was rainy on the ground but sunny :sunny: in the sky. Cool! Hope everyone else has a safe and enjoyable journey south.

Donald and Daisy,
We are hoping for brunch reservations but didn't even get the option online. We are booked for dinner on the last night but wanted to celebrate daughter's 8th bday that night in the dining room so we'll probably cancel.

We are wearing aqua blue leis at boarding :grouphug: (except Bill ofcourse, who will be wearing his Frito Lays). Hope you'll join in. The kids will have fun searching out other disfriends ahead of time.

Glad to hear you made it safely! :) All together how much time in advance of your flight did you get to the airport?
I can't drop my dog off at the kennel until 8am and our flight leaves at 10:25am It should take me about 25 minutes to get to the airport from there. Do you think 2 hours is enough time??

I have a serious question. Does anybody know if they have sushi on the ship. On Carnival they have it every night from 5:30pm to 8pm. Love my sushi. In fact had soem tonight with terriyaki chicken. YUM!

Still haven't made my door magnet yet! :confused3

Moose,
Yes they have ice machines on the ship. They sell it in 5lb bags for about $3.00. I think one of the crew makes ice cubes in his cabin and sells them. He sells out fast since he has one of those dorm room fridges.

Bill

Bill,
I never saw sushi of any kind on our last DCL cruise-sorry :confused3
Ate great sushi last night in Michigan though. If you ever make it up here, I'll take you :)

All, we will meet at 3:00 in the Promenade lounge wearing blue leis.
I have extra leis for those that can't pick them up ahead- no worries!!

We'll plan other meets then.

Safe travels to all,
michelle

Thanks for the info about the sushi. I'm sure I'll survive. At least I'll get my visit to Sonnys BBQ and Bubba Gumps while I'm down there.

I'm too lazy to go look so could someone tell me which deck the promenade lounge is on please?

To anybody leaving in the next day or so have a safe trip down.

Bill

Hi all,
I've been busy entertaining my family from NY. Took them into DC yesterday and ate at a restaurant called Bilbo Baggins in Alexandria, VA (Was thinking Hobbitmomma would like that :thumbsup2 )

I think the martini tasting is in the afternoon on the last day because I was kinda disappointed that they had it too close to the wine tasting (not doing both-so gotta choose- darn :guilty: ) But I'm not sure. You do have to go to guest services and sign up for these though.

Bill, the Promenade Lounge is on Deck 3 between Triton's and Parrot Cay. I'm guessing we will only be there for about half an hour and take a picture. I'm looking forward to meeting you all and matching names to faces :cool1:

Victory Blu my DD9 is quite the tomboy too. Got mad at me when I bought her princess sheets for her bed

We have brunch reservations at 11am. For those who don't have them and want them, get to the terminal early on the first day and they will let you know where to go to sign up (I forget where sorry  ) I've heard they do set aside some reservations for people, but they go fast- especially for brunch.

We were struggling with our door sign yesterday. Hopefully will get it done in time. We leave on Saturday. I don't get alot of vacation time as I'm new, but I'm a big fan of using it when I have it :thumbsup2

Bill, 2 hours sounds like enough time to get to the airport. Don't forget to call ahead of time to make sure they are on schedule (I always forget to :) )

I am travelling with several married couples with my children and theirs and I am a single parent. I was wondering if anyone knew of a single parent in the same situation on this cruise. :tinker:

I am glad to see people are getting dressed in costume for pirate night. My DD(14) and DS(11) and I have bought some pirate accessories and are looking forward to getting dressed up that night. pirate:

Good reminder about calling ahead to make sure he flight is going off as scheduled. I hope you can match my face to my name :rotfl:

Also thanks for the reminder about finishing the door sign too.

Glinda,
Hello and welcome. Sorry but don't know any single parents in your situation. No pirate night costume for me. It's a stretch getting me to wear a lei. Oops just remembered i need to buy some Fritos.
