August 27, 2006 4 night Wonder

Wow! This is Great :cool1: !!
My DH will be in Heaven :cloud9: .
He is a huge space program fan.
If this happens, it will be talked about in our home FOREVER!
How far from the dock is the actual launchpad??
Which side of the ship is best for viewing??

We don't have a lot of time to get into position after the safety drill so figuring out the best place to view the launch may be important :confused3
I'm guessing as high up as possible (deck 9 or 10), but I'm not sure what side. Can we tip the ship if everyone rushes to one side to watch ;)

I'm so stressed at work right now. And to top it all off, my DM, DB and DSIL are coming this weekend to visit from NY. They rarely visit or I'd ask them to come another time.

Also don't have any pictures on hand to post and need either my DH or DS to help me do it anyway. Both are always busy. My DH went on the passporter website (from work computer  ) a couple days ago and he is starting to get excited about the trip. We are definitely getting to the port early and eating in Parrot Cay for lunch. Will have the kids wear their bathing suits and meet up at the pool after lunch.

BTW
I got an email from an old DIS buddy from my last cruise and was told not to miss Pub Night on the last night (around 10:30). He said it was a lot of fun :thumbsup2

My husband actually called DCL a few weeks ago to ask about viewing the launch. They told him that the port is only 15 minutes south of the cape and that viewing from the port is excellent. So, I guess we need to get to the north side of the ship. I just hope that the safety drill doesn't cause us to miss it. I don't think that they would want that many unhappy passengers on their hands!!
:cool1: 7 days from now we will be on our way to WDW!!! :cool1:

This may be a silly question but I grew up in FL and was always able to see the launches from a distance (in Daytona). Let's just say its postponed, which happens a lot.... :sunny: would we still be able to see it from the Bahamas?

sounds like a perfect time to take advantage of the empty pools while you guys are all scrambling to watch the launch. :cool1:

Unfortunately, I doubt it. That distance is about 350 miles so I suspect we won't but one can hope :goodvibes

Hey Laurie,

I hear you about the stress thing :crazy2:
I am soooo needing this vacation this week!
So do you think it actually is worse than any other week or just that this trip is so close you can almost hear that horn belting out "when u wish upon a star..." :listen:
I heard similar things about the Pub Night. Maybe we could set up a farewell Dismeet for the over 18 crowd on that evening for a short while? I've heard that all the kids (including the teens) have some sort of farewell party that last night too so they might not miss us for a short while.

My job has been like a roller coaster ride. I'm still in the "learning phase" of patent examining. Apparently this lasts for another year
But yeah, now we are getting close I'm trying to make sure I have everything I need to make this trip go smoothly- more stress.

I'm there for Pub Night :thumbsup2
My kids are looking forward to the kids club, so I doubt they'll miss us :cloud9:

Laurie :)

Well, this is it for us! We're on the plane to FL in about 15 hours! I'm going crazy trying to pack EVERYTHING and remember EVERY tip I've read here on the boards! Thanks for all those by the way :thumbsup2

I'll probably check in in a couple of days :hourglass . Maybe I'll have some good tips for your flights. When does everyone else leave?

Count me in for pub night, too! Wish they did that on the first night

SEE YA SOON :grouphug:

We leave Thursday morning for WDW at the Poly. Have a good flight!

We are doing the martini tasting. I think that's the last night as well. I wonder if it is tied to the pub night.
