August 25 2012

Hello! I just booked an OGTY on the August 25th Fantasy. It is just DD(10), DD (8) and me this time. I see that I am too late for the FE group. Would somebody mind telling me when/where you decided to meet? I haven't had time to read through all posts but did see something about a Meet.

Is anyone else traveling solo with kids? My girls are not good at making friends - or as my DD would say - talking to strangers like Mom does. But I find that if they have friends on vacation they have a really good time. Just shy at first. I was hoping I could help the process. Also looking for anyone interested in sharing a table with kids similar ages.

We just did the stingray on CC in February. The kids LOVED it. The stingrays are gentle and trained to just swim over tray and get food. Their stingers have been removed. It feels like a kiss on your hand when they take the food.

I'm traveling with just my daughter (7) - I'm sure she'd like to meet some other girls to play with on the ship.

That's a good point about the stingers being removed - I'll mention that to her - thanks!

I have a DD10 and a DD7. They love to meet new friends. Definitely come to the meet.

Borgthe and Jojo - thank you. I will come to Meet but need to know when and where?

I think it's going to be on the day of arrival, sometime before the lifeboat drill. A location hasn't been decided yet. One of the cruisers (Pudo) posted a few suggestions of places to meet a page or two back and was going to pick a place after hearing from some more people. I think the options were D-Lounge, Bon Voyage lounge, Vista Cafe or another location outside to be determined.

My DD is 11. My DS is 6. DS is an outgoing social juggernaut, but DD can barely say hello to anyone. I'm hoping she can meet some of the other girls at the meet too so that maybe then some faces would be familiar to her.

I like Vista Cafe on Deck 4. Inside & air-conditioned. Don't know if the other options will be available or open at that point of the cruise. Outside is too hot and probably too crowded.

I told DD10 that I was trying to find other families with kids her age. I reminded her how much fun we had on Panama Canal crossing where we befriended another mom with 2 kids. She said that she wouldn't play with anyone unless I also played with the Mom. :confused3:)

Hi and welcome! This is our first DCL cruise, and its just me and my 2 kids, DD10 and DS14. My DD would love to have some new friends and since she is celebrating her 11th birthday on the cruise, she's hoping to have some girls to party with her, as none of the home friends are ever around for her birthday.

We are so looking forward to this cruise!!:dance3:

So many girls on this trip!! Hope DS9 can find a friend! He's an only, so a buddy would be great for him!!

Yep, that's my DD. If I'm not standing right there with her, giving her a gentle push, she likely to just curl up in a corner someplace with a book.

Now, I love that she reads, but sometimes that kid's just gotta let loose and have some fun.

So can we confirm 3 pm at vista cafe all?

Yes, I think that is a good idea. We have a had more interest in the Vista Cafe than of the other options so unless anybody really objects then 3 PM @ the Vista Cafe is the place to be. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the feedback,

Jeff

We still have 9 GTYs on the FE list. Did I miss any stateroom assignments?

Thanks,
Jeff

I was thinking the other day when you mentioned she would celebrate her bday on board that we should try to do something special for her, perhaps a mini-celebration of sorts if we can coordinate?

That would be nice. She really hasn't had a party for the last few years. Her birthday is the day we are to be in St. Thomas, so maybe that evening. I think we could talk once on board. So kind of you.

Though I voted for the Vista Cafe, I will have to find it.:rotfl:
It will be nice to meet everyone.

Pudo, yes, we still have no cabin assignment yet. Nervous excitement as well as curious as to where our veranda will be. Hopefully in the next Monday or two.

What kinds of things does your DD like, Lynne? Maybe we can inundate the FE with birthday surprises!

You all are so kind. She is all girl, favorite color is blue, loves soccer, nail polish, iTunes, dolphins and actually anything cute, but not too kiddie any more. Likes Minnie the best right now. But really, everything everyone may give will be exciting to her.

We are almost finished our FE gifts. What fun. We are not that crafty, so gifts are a combo of made and someone else made. :goodvibes
