Okay, Pudo.. I saw that you said that the 8/4 switched the Western to an Eastern. How were the people informed? When would we know?

ETA- you answered me on Facebook. :) Thanks

According to the DIS thred for that cruise, they were getting notified the day before via e-mail.:surfweb: So, I'll bet that a lot of passengers didn't know until they arrived at the port.

Congratulations and welcome. We did the Dream as a surprise last year for our girls and one of them was overexcited DD 10 and made herself sick the whole first 3hrs of the cruise .:) she couldn't believe she was on the new ship.

I'm hoping to keep it a surprise until the morning of the cruise but I'm not sure I'll be able to keep it in, I might just explode :goodvibes

My granddaughters and I just finished making about 200 of these to hand out at the meet. People can put them on their lanyards or hats if they like to identify themselves as DISers. I should have enough for everyone, even those not in the FE group.

I have a DD that is 10 also that will be looking for someone to connect with. All of her cousins and sisters will be older or younger. :cheer2:

Awesome! Good luck with that! Do you happen to have the number to schedule a Mickey call?

Log on to the Disney cruise site. call up your reservation. At the bottom of the page is a add that reads "Schedule a Character call". click that link, it will then provide the promts, Its all done online. Its very easy. Good luck.

Cheers

Hi this is my first Disney Cruise 8-25-12 from NYC port to Bahamas. Traveling with two kids Matthew (11) Ashley (7). Having my kids especially my son who is shy, meet other kids the first day in Edge. Excited to see another Matthew age 11 also going on the cruise.

Sorry to tell you, but I think you are on the wrong cruise meet. This is the Fantasy and we are currently scheduled to leave from Port Canaveral to the Eastern Caribbean (unless the weather changes our itinerary) . Have fun on your trip. The kids will love it!

This is my 1st Disney cruise with connecting rooms cat 11A..... what are the chances of getting a free upgrade???

really hoping, but I'm assuming that it is harder with connecting rooms?

This is going to be my 4th DCL cruise & I have never been upgraded free or otherwise. You read about upgrades a lot because people who get them come on here & rave about it. The people who don't get upgrades don't come on and rave about not getting one, so you don't hear about all the ones who don't, so it seems that there are a lot of free upgrades out there. If you want a specific type stateroom and will not be happy with what you booked you should probably pay to upgrade to what you would be happy with. Otherwise, just hope you get some "Pixie Dust", but don't count on it.:goodvibes

Didn't mean to be a "Debbie Downer", but just don't want you to be disappointed if it doesn't happen.:goodvibes

Thanks for saying this! Seems people get upset if they get a room assignment that they paid for and get exactly that and no more! The DIS makes it seem as if it happens all the time!! All the questions about upgrading at the port seem out of touch as well. I wonder how many cruises actually have upgrades available. Thanks for the reality check! ;)

Hi -

My daughter (7 y/o) and I are excitedly looking forward to our cruise and I was wondering about other people's opinions of the DCL excursions that are offered.

We booked a couple of excursions in St. Thomas (catamaran/snorkeling excursion and the Skyride excursion). It seems that there is time for both (hopefully!)

Does anyone know anything or have recommendations for St. Martin and/or Castaway Cay?

In my opinion, a taxi to Orient Bay seemed like a better option for us than any of the similar excursions offered on St. Martin.

On Castaway Cay, it seemed like pretty much anything we wanted to do (other than rent a cabana) we could do when we got there, rather than booking in advance. Is that right...? What kind of food is available at Castaway Cay?

My favorite excursion in St Thomas is the Doubloon Sail and Snorkel. The crew is fantastic and great with kids. We did it for the first time when my son was 6 and had never snorkeled before. He had a blast.

I haven't looked at where we are docking in St Thomas but it's really not a long walk to the sky ride if you wanted to do that on your own. I believe the price is better that way.

On Castaway Cay the stingray excursion is fun. We like to do the first one of the day as the rays are very happy to see people :) That's another one we did for the first time when my son was 6.

I wish we had booked early enough to have a shot at a Cabana - definitely $ well spent. Maybe someone will cancel last minute and we can get one :) fingers crossed.

I usually eat at the adult beach on CC so not sure exactly what is offered at the family beach. I believe there are burgers and maybe grilled chicken?? Also, there is plenty of fresh fruit and soft serve ice cream.

Getting so excited:cheer2:

we did the stingray excursion on castaway cay the first time. my daughter loved it. since then, we've done the jet ski excursion...that is awesome and we're doing it again this time. as far as the other ports, we always do something with the beach although last time it was cancelled due to weather and we ended up going to some marine life park. that was still fun. i book through disney for the comfort level of knowing that if you get delayed the ship waits for you. worth the extra cost to not have to think about it. as far as beaches go...we did see a couple of topless people, but my daughter was not bothered by it at all. i think it's good that disney does give you a heads up before you depart for those who might want to think twice about it.

Thanks! I had looked at the Doubloon Sail, but wound up booking the Caribbean Sea Safari because it seemed to be a longer duration. I thought both options sounded great!

As for the stingrays on CC - I thought that sounded fun too, but my daughter has been kind of scared about stingrays ever since the Crocodile Hunter was killed by one. :sad1:

Hello! I just booked an OGTY on the August 25th Fantasy. It is just DD(10), DD (8) and me this time. I see that I am too late for the FE group. Would somebody mind telling me when/where you decided to meet? I haven't had time to read through all posts but did see something about a Meet.

Is anyone else traveling solo with kids? My girls are not good at making friends - or as my DD would say - talking to strangers like Mom does. But I find that if they have friends on vacation they have a really good time. Just shy at first. I was hoping I could help the process. Also looking for anyone interested in sharing a table with kids similar ages.

We just did the stingray on CC in February. The kids LOVED it. The stingrays are gentle and trained to just swim over tray and get food. Their stingers have been removed. It feels like a kiss on your hand when they take the food.
