August 25 2012

My granddaughters and I just finished making about 200 of these to hand out at the meet. People can put them on their lanyards or hats if they like to identify themselves as DISers. I should have enough for everyone, even those not in the FE group.

These are so cute!!!!!

There are few good choices to have a DIS Meet @ 3 PM. I have created a poll to pick your choice.

Jeff

Poll option doesn't seem to be working. Oh well.

The choices are:

Vista Cafe - Deck 4
D Lounge - Deck 4
Bon Voyage Lounge - 3
Outside venue

Is D Lounge open? If so, I vote for there. :)

That's my plan too.

Although I do want to go to St. Thomas and St. Martin, since we have never been, I wouldn't be too upset if suddenly went someplace else. It is all about the ship really for me, with the stops just being nice perks.

Also, I wouldn't be too upset about having to go to Nachi Cocum again or maybe even trying out Mr. Sancho's.

Last time I was to St. T and St. M was 16 years ago. I wouldn't mind a chage in islands or 2 days at CC, but we are happy just to be on the ship too. We are so looking forward to exploring the ship as much as the stops we will be making.

For the meet, I too would like indoors. Vista Cafe or other is fine with me. I would think at 3pm the sun would be at the hottest and maybe even that typical Florida summer late afternoon shower/storm may appear at that hour.

Here comes the count down, not single digits yet, but getting there!!!!:cool1:

Made my FE. Not the best job, not really all disney, but cute none the less. Printed out some more magnets. We will have a colorful door too.

Now to start to pack and still toying with shipping things down.

When I look on the options for our cruise on DCL site, it shows most categories still available. I called them and was told the ship is almost SOLD OUT. I would LOVE LOVE a 5E but I can't click on that option, and the CM told me that they are all GTY and none have actually been assigned. I said what are the chances I could get one with VGT, and she told me a good chance (yeah, right!) but I can't actually book at 5E at this point. She also told me that there is a chance that we might not get room assignments until we get to the port :scared1: The anticipation will kill me before then. :furious:

That's crazy! I obsessively counted the actual staterooms you could choose this morning and there were over 150 available to select. And I'm sure there is inventory held back. I can't imagine that the ship is close to sold out. There are still a ton of inside rooms to book, although the fact that they cost about 2000 more than an ogt or Vgt may have something to do with it! I'm hoping we get our assignments next Monday.

Just booked today. It will be myself, DH and my son Ian age 12. Hoping there will be some kids for him to meet :) Haven't told him yet, it's going to be a surprise.

No No No!!!!! I am with you, I hope we find out next Monday. Seems alot of people are getting their OGTs today for the week before our sailing date. I would like to know where we will be before I sail as I will be a little  if I don't. And sold out? I still find that hard to believe, but they were offering VGT/OGT, and I think even IGT, as early as March of this year. Lots of time for people to pick the GT's, though I haven't seen IGT for some time, and at times, even the OGT was not offered, only VGT. Thus, it scares me and excites me as I have a VGT, and since that catagory is by far the largest number of rooms, and I booked months ago, where am I in the list of who gets assigned first? :confused3

I hope us that have the unknown rooms will get to know where soon!

Oh, and we are in the summer season for sure: Very hot days with afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Yes, it's August!:beach:

Thanks

Yeah,DH wonders how they decide who gets the best rooms, when there is VGTs to assign. He thinks that those that booked first should get the better rooms. We booked ours back in April. But I think it's totally random. But I would love a little pixie dust for a great room, that is for sure!

Just booked today. It will be myself, DH and my son Ian age 12. Hoping there will be some kids for him to meet :) Haven't told him yet, it's going to be a surprise.

:welcome: Check the first page out, it has the list of us DISers that will be on this cruise. There are quite a few boys that are your son's age. I am sure he can find some new friends.

My DS is 14 and is hot and cold about going to the Vibe. I am making him go the first night to see if he can find some new friends from the start.

Have been excited about this cruise. My kids have known about it since we booked this spring. DD talked DS into coming. We have to go to Epcot after the cruise, as that was what DS wanted in exchange for agreeing to the cruise. I think he will have a great time on the cruise though, he just won't admit it yet.

Thanks for the welcome we are so excited :cheer2: Not sure which club Ian will choose, Edge or the lab. I think I'll try and get him up to the Edge on the first night.

I was just on the Fantasy in May and he will definitely love it. There is no shortage of things to do for all ages.

Oops sorry, I am a newbie too, but I guess I like acronyms. :) The GT part is guaranteed, and the I means inside, O means outside, meaning window, and V means veranda. That means you are guaranteed any cabin in the catagoy you book, that is, any inside, outside or veranda cabin. You will not be assigned a cabin in a lower class. So a VGT will not get an inside room or any cabin lower than the lowest one in the veranda catagory. You may also see someone say they have a 5E GT. That means, they don't have an assigned cabin, but it will be one that is a 5E.

What drives us that booked VGT crazy is that a veranda cabin can be in the least desired (for some, though some like being at the back of the ship) up to a family cabin that is classified one below the concierge class of cabins.

If you book one of the GT (guaranteed category) rooms, you don't get to pick your exact room, DCL will pick it for you depending on what's available. You get a discount for allowing them to place you where they need you. OGT is an Outside view room (porthole), VGT is Verandah, IGT is Inside room. You are guaranteed to get the type of room you reserve, just not the location. If you reserve VGT you are guaranteed a room with a verandah, but you may not find out until just before the cruise, or perhaps not until you check in, which deck you'll be on.
I think GT just means you are guaranteed a room and DCL will select one for you. They do try to put you in the best room available for your category. They use the discounted rooms to help fill up the ships when they are not sold out.

Makes perfect sense now.
Many thanks to both you and lynne G

We just booked the Aug 25th cruise Pattie, Mike, Samantha (17) Matthew (11) and Danielle (10)

yay....another 10 yo girl!!! my daughter is an only, so is very excited about connecting with some of the girls her age!! make sure you go to the meet and greet!!

Don't forget folks if you have kids schedule a character call. We did one a few mouths ago and the kids loved it!! We have another one scheduled for the night before we leave for FL. :-)

I booked this cruise May of last year and scheduled a call from Mickey for 8/11/12.....well the call came 8/11/11......I actually hung up on Mickey!!! Not sure if we will get another call. We are actually now traveling with another family, and haven't told any of the 5kids. We are starting the surprise at the airport when they see each other and just assume we are going to WDW. Might have Mickey call cell phone before we board the plane on Friday since we are staying near port. Hoping we can keep secret for 18 more days.

Awesome! Good luck with that! Do you happen to have the number to schedule a Mickey call?
