August 25 2012

Hi Jim and Bev! I recognize your ID from last time too. Good to see you here. Have a great time on your upcoming (sooner) cruise. We haven't been onboard since 09 but did do WDW with our non-Disney timeshare this past Thanksgiving. It's getting harder and harder to take the kids out of school as they get older so the Aug. cruise will be our first foray into "in-season" travel...

--Suzanne

We did WDW 1 day before & 1 day after the last cruise. We went to WDW in September of 2010. Now 2011 cruise. Probably fit in another trip to WDW between our cruise next week and the 2012 cruise. We don't have kids to worry about. They are grown & stay home & take care of the house & animals for us. No Grandkids either. Just Grand kitties & puppies.:thumbsup2

This will be our first vacation "in season" too. We usually go to WDW (or any vacation really) in October. DD will be starting middle school in September 2012 and pulling her out is really no longer a viable option for us.

I'm pretty sure our October 2010 cruise was fully booked, so I'm hoping that means we are prepared to deal with a full ship in August 2012. I'm just wondering how different "full" on the Fantasy is from "full" on the Magic.....

I'm leaving on a full 5 night Dream cruise on Sunday, so I will let you know how that goes.:thumbsup2

That would be great. I am especially curious about crowds at the pool, the drink service station, etc.

Have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

Welcome CarrieKurz, Trixidixie, and Suzannecat, this group is growing in leaps and bounds!!
We are already at 38 cabins full of DISers!!
We will definetely be dressing up for Pirate night (if they still have that on the Fantasy:confused3). Some of our best memories are dressing up on pirate night, my dad did such a good job (and is a bit scary looking anyways) that a kid came up and asked for his autograph, which he gladly gave:rotfl::rotfl: The characters and crew really enjoy seeing people dressed up too!!
Only 86 days till we can start planning for our Fish Extender Exchange!!
Let me know if there are any errors on page 1

We just did the Dream in April. Yes, the pool was alittle crowded even in port but a spurts and not unbearable. My kids just enjoyed being in the water and riding the aquaduck. As far as the drink stations we never had to wait. I think we figured out where and how to go. Our servers were fantastic. They are supposed to be moving to the Fantasy next year so we hope we get them again. We read all the post before we went and were worried, but it was wonderful. So go and have fun.

vacation schedule for 2012 finalized - we are on baord for sure !!

Welcome AlwaysDisney4US:banana::banana: Sounds like you will have a real party with the crew you have coming, FUN!!!!

Here is a little blurb to build some excitement-

Sun kissed St. Thomas is part of the US Virgin Islands. Your ship docks at Charlotte Amalie, the capital of this region.

St. Thomas has a colorful history including the era when pirates sailed the seas. Legend has it that Blackbeard and Bluebeard sought safe harbor here.

It's ideal location made St. Thomas the key shipping and distribution center for the West Indies. The port now welcomes the major cruise lines and is one of the more popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean.

You'll find charming shops lining the oceanside vista. St. Thomas invites you to play on white-sand beaches, explore ancient mysteries or soak in tropical atmosphere on a biking tour. Play a round of golf at one of the most beautiful courses in the West Indies, scuba dive through spectacular living reefs, or sail on a charming excursion to the smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. John. Here warm waters welcome you to windsurf, parasail, or master the waves on a kayak built for two.

I'm leaving on a full 5 night Dream cruise on Sunday, so I will let you know how that goes.

Got off the Dream 5 night CC double dip on Friday, June 3. The ship was showing as full when we left. It didn't seem overly crowded to me. I did hear complaints from some people who had been on the Magic & Wonder that they felt the ships was too big and they would be going back to the smaller ships. We didn't do the main pool since we didn't have kids with us, but we went to the quiet cove pool area to relax and sometimes there were young kids there with their parents just sitting around. They weren't noisy or anything, but when the signs say no one under 18 I wish people would obey. One time a Mom & Dad walked past the wall where it says no one under 18 and their young daughter kept saying "I can't go in there" The parents kept ignoring her and she finally said "OK, I'm going to the arcade" I don't even think they heard her. She was more of an adult than the parents.

Two noise problems we had were at Palo & Senses Salon. Palo is right underneath the miniature golf course & we could hear kids running around up there throughout our meal. The massage room I had was on the second level of the Salon & I kept hearing noises from above. I asked the girl what all the noise was & she said that the basketball court was right above it. She said that the 1st level rooms of the Salon were even noisier because they were next to the gym area & people are very noisy down there. I think they could have done a better job of noise abatement in both areas.

Other than that we had a very enjoyable & relaxing cruise.:thumbsup2

Disneyholic - thanks for the report!

I'm glad to hear that a full ship didn't seem overly crowded, because that was my biggest concern. I don't think I will mind that the ship is big (in fact, I'm looking forward to it!)

The Palo/Senses thing sounds like a bit of poor planning. I wonder if they are are aware of it on the Dream, if they will do anything when building the Fantasy to try and address that.

My DD will be 17 on board...as for the threads for them, what we did for our last cruise in Feb '11, the kids linked up on Facebook and have kept in contact since the cruise. We met some great families with kids our ages our last cruise and still keep in contact. It was very nice to hook up with them online first.

Awesome!

I think that room has a slight obstruction though. But the room is so close to my 2 rooms!

I was looking up my room today and found that one close by and checked it out.

You can see the obstruction when viewing the ship. Its the curve.

8062 is connecting if its available.
