August 25, 2012 Magic in NYC!!!!

Thanks for the offer of help. I have been to NYC twice before, once as a young girl with my Mam and sister and again for my 30th with DH so doing it with 2 kiddiwinks will be different. We love to see shows and were thinking maybe one night we would go and see a show, if DS will sit through one that is!!! Or we hope to persuade my parents to join us and they would probably let us do a show with DD one night and then they could go another night. Anyway that really doesn't help us with what to do by day or where to stay.
I have seen the info on the dis about the new Disney Store so super excited to go there, can never have too much Disney!!!!

So any suggestions would be great - oh we have booked ground transfers as part of our package but then worked out it may be better to just taxi to the port and do the transfer back to the airport. We're not sure what our flight times will be yet, maybe I should see what they are like.

Anyway thats me checking in, still working on savings plan!

I've been MIA and mainly on the other meet thread for my upcoming cruise. I'd be glad to help with any questions regarding the city and entertainment options for bibbidibobbidiboo07 (whew!) since I live in Manhattan. There's actually a new huuge Disney store in Times Square now. My other meet thread is doing a pre-cruise meet there next month.

The cruise will be here before you know it! I have a week at WDW in April 2012 so I'll be plenty occupied before the cruise. It will feel so good not to fly anywhere & not having to worry about liquids .

Now that I've subscribed to the thread I'll be on here more often.

If you are going to see a show in NYC, I would highly recommend Mary Poppins. It was fantastic! There usually are matinees on Wednesday if you want to go during a weekday.

Just booked this cruise for my husband and I for our 30th anniversary! Had been planning it for a few weeks but finally put the down payment on it. I know these cruises out of NYC are filling up quickly.

Really looking forward to this (our first cruise) and the day at WDW. Although the price seems a little high when you figure we aren't flying to Florida, paying for a hotel, all meals are included and we are going to WDW, visiting 2 Islands , plus entertainment, pools, and great service, I think it really is a good deal.

Now for the the big countdown to next August and saving money....

Hi bibbidibobbidiboo07....Sorry if you have these suggestions from other posters already but here goes...
Museum of Natural history (awesome planetarium too!)... Central park is fun to walk around and you can also take a horse and buggy ride, central park zoo is great for younger children...The intrepid is cool to visit with kids...What about a Circle Line sightseeing boat ride??

I booked in April as soon as they released the dates for this NYC- Bahamas cruise. DH hates flying, so he's never been on a DCL cruise before. I'd just love for him to see this beautiful ship.
I will be cruising with DD 15 at time of cruising and DH.
I'm waiting for my job's vacation lottery to take place later on this month, so wish me some Pixie Dust luck and more Disney Magic, so we can stay on this cruise.
Unfortunately DCL does not give any discount to passengers with an Annual passholder ticket, and at present you don't have an option to not go to the park in order to reduce your cruise fare.

Yeah. The summer months are so popular especially for staff with school aged children that we have to have a lottery in order to get at least one week off for vacation.

As for excursions some people from the meets get together to do an excursion together to save money or just so they have someone familiar with them. But there usually is a meet & greet set up onboard so everyone can mingle and put faces to names. There are also pre-cruise meets sometimes. I'm doing one next weekend with some folks that are going on my 8/28 Dream cruise. There are a lot of possibilities.
