August 25, 2012 Magic in NYC!!!!

Thats how we felt about the price also.

Sorry about my post being clear. I meant taking the train from Providence RI into NY the day of the cruise. When I called to change my reservation they said they don't know if they will be sailing out of Manhattan or Brooklynn at this point. I hope it is Manhattan since Penn Station is only a few minutes away from the cruise terminal (at least per Map Quest).

Ahoy Everyone!
couldn't resist seeing the Statue of Liberty from the top deck of the Magic!

roll call:
Me - Lisa
DBF- Bob
DD - Jordan (12 at sailing)

Ahoy rantnnravin!

I have to say that sailing past the Statue of Liberty was a huge draw for us as well. In fact, in case we don't meet before the sail away, I'll be the woman on the top deck, bawling her eyes out (while her family laughs at her).

Hey spoohs, I found an article on the internet that talked about how happy Bloomsburg is to welcome DCL to sail either from Manhattan or Brooklyn. So much for Cape Liberty , that would have been so much easier for us. At least we are sailing out on a Sat, back on a Sun, so we won't be fighting weekday traffic.

Sorry to hear about Cape Liberty. I am really hoping for Manhattan since it wouldn't be an expensive cab ride to get there from Penn station.

We sailed out of Manhattan on the NCL Gem this past February and boy was it fantastic and so easy!!! I hope we leave out of Manhattan..the parking was sooooo easy at the pier. Sailing past the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and watching the city disappear as we sailed away was amazing!!! We live 1/2 hr from NYC so it was really easy for us but it was amazing to not have to fly for our cruise vacation... We went to Disney from the ship in Port Canaveral so that was an added bonus (although it was only 6 hours in the park ....it's better than no Disney!!). Now we'll get the Disney experience out of NY.....:cool1: woohoo!!!!!! Sooooo excited!!!!!!

Welcome Lisa and Family! My DD (Amanda) will be age 13 at sailing. She may like to communicate with Jordan (and others around her age) when we get closer. She has done this on past cruises and then set up a meeting spot once on board. It was nice to have kids she already knew to hang out with.

Jordan would LOVE that! she is quite the "connected" kid (I have no idea where she gets that from  )

Hi all!:)

Just today I switched from 8/24/12 5 nt Dream to this cruise.:thumbsup2 I am so excited not to have to fly with my smallest one and to have 3 more nights on ship.:cloud9: My kids will be 11, 8, and 4 at the time of sailing.

I am new to cruising (only been on 2 my whole life) and have never been on DCL. What's an FE?

Glad to join the thread.:goodvibes

We'll be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary on August 31st! It's a sea day so I am hoping to snag a Palo ressie!

We'll also be celebrating our 15th a few days after disembarkation. We got married the week after you.:goodvibes

I'll get over the disappointment :thumbsup2. Since it doesn't matter to us that much anymore, I'll hope for Manhattan.

Just a girl thing, or can I throw Jim into the mix? For that matter, where are all the 13 year old boys?:confused3

Hello Haddonfield! This is getting to be funny, is there anyone coming not within driving distance? Perhaps our cruise "convention" should be rantnnravin's tag on her cruise count down: Leaving w/out a Jetplane :rotfl2:

Of course Jim would be welcomed to communicate with Amanda. In the past she has just done girls since they have more in common, but she was also a lot younger then. She would like to meet anyone her age that would be in 'Ocean Quest" with her. It is nice to already know some kids once on board.

My son would have just turned 14 two months before the cruise and my daughter will turn 13 on the cruise so there are a few more kids in that age group.
