August 25, 2012 Magic in NYC!!!!

Our DD was 4 gone January, she absolutely loved the kids club. She got the choice sometimes of pool or kids club and she went for the kids club every time! They have so much going on in there for them. I would say she didn't make any friends as such, I think she just enjoyed coloring in, making things, dressing up and joining in with some of the organised things that were going on. It was great to know she was somewhere where she was happy and enjoying herself. We even used Flounders Reef nursery twice for DS which we weren't sure of but they were excellent at reassuring us and then telling us exactly what he had done while in their and he was fine with it, next year may be a different story!
I'm sure our DD would go with your DD if she wanted a friend to go in with. She quite likes looking out for younger ones!

Hello,
We just got off the magic and booked this cruise. Fingerd crossed we can save some money to pay for it!!!
We are certainly not local being from Northern England and plan on spending a couple of nights in NYC pre cruise. We're quite excited but we need to do our sums!!!!
So anyway we are a family of 4, our DD will be 5 and DS will be almost 2 (his birthday 26th Sept), it will be DH birthday on 30th and me.

:wave2: Welcome to our first non-"local".

Hey everybody, exactly 1 year, 3 months from today!

I hear you on saving $$ for the cruise. We do have the Disney Visa card, and between just gas and food we have been racking up the points. Unfortunately, the points won't pay for the whole trip, unless gas prices continue to rise :scared1:, and I really don't want that!

Our job for this weekend is to do a budget plan! We can't use disney visa scheme so we need to look at other ways to save money. My husband has a scheme at work and we manaaged to earn £150 cashback on their but this is only $244, that won't even get us in our Stateroom door!!!
I bought myself a notebook yesterday and my plan is to decorate it and make it all Disneyfied and then plan away, might encourage me to use the book and save!
Am trying to think of some fun ways to monitor our savings, Disney ones of course.
The one problem in our grand plan is that it is DBIL 40th this December and they want a family trip to Florida next year, and they have decided on January, for us it is only flights as we have an AP and can use DVC points if we have enought left after borrowing already from next years for our last trip.
See I really must plan - and stick to the plan!!!!

Oh and how do I get a ticker? Do I need to put that in the budget?!!!!

Tickers are the countdowns in people's signatures and they're free. Just click on any ticker in anyones signature and it should take you to that website where you create one(instructions are on there). Disboards have tickers too, at the top of your page where the search option is. Disboards also has a technical forum that you can ask questions if you have any.

Just put a 5 day hold for this cruise. I am soo excited...Now to pay the down payment and then it will be official!!:goodvibes

TA on a mini vacation until Monday. Have wait till monday to put down deposit. This waiting is killing me:headache: and the cruise isnt for over a year.

Just booked today, yippee!!! Northern NJ here, and DD will be 8. Counting the days already!!

Welcome all. I hear ya on the deposit. Our TA was on the Dream when it was time to put down the deposit, that was the longest 3 days ever.

I'm getting a little worried, are we going to be surrounded by Red Sox, Yankees and Mets fans? :scared1:

Kids out of school next week. Couple days at home, one week at Y camp, one week for the girl at overnight camp, 2 for the boy (first time that they will be away from me that long, they will be fine, I'll be a mess. Boy already told me he was going to miss the computer more than me. :sad1:), 4 weeks of theater camp, 1 more week of Y camp, a quick trip to OCNJ, and back to school. Gone before you know it. Everytime I get a little discouraged that the cruise is still over 400 days away, I just think about how time flies, and know that it will be here before I know it. And I still will not have lost those 15 pounds. :thumbsup2

Happy weekend to all.

While this one is a year away, we have our Alaska cruise exactly one year before and actually 10 weeks away...so it will keep me occupied for a bit.

Welcome!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

Thanks for the wonderful welcome, but I am sad:sad2: to inform you all in such a short time my family has switched our cruise to 8/25 on the fantasy eastern. It was priced so much better and now my DSis and her family will probably be going with us.

Welcome to all the cruisers!

I've been MIA and mainly on the other meet thread for my upcoming cruise. I'd be glad to help with any questions regarding the city and entertainment options for bibbidibobbidiboo07 (whew!) since I live in Manhattan. There's actually a new huuge Disney store in Times Square now. My other meet thread is doing a pre-cruise meet there next month.

The cruise will be here before you know it! I have a week at WDW in April 2012 so I'll be plenty occupied before the cruise. It will feel so good not to fly anywhere & not having to worry about liquids :thumbsup2.

Now that I've subscribed to the thread I'll be on here more often.

So sorry to hear that. I'm curious that you say the eastern on the Fantasy is a better value. We were originally booked on that and switched to this one because not only was it cheaper for more days, but we didn't have to pay airfare. Have the prices changed that much?

We were booking a verandah room on the magic and the price was 1500 more for this cruise than Fantasy. I really wanted the extra day and to go out of New York but I thought it would be better to check out the new ship since it was less expensive. Also my Dsis needed 2 rooms (6 pp in her family) and her price for New York was outrageous.:confused3

Hi everyone. We are Mike and Jodie. No kids here. We just switched from the 5/25 NYC cruise because we decided to do a B2B. So we'll be doing this one and then staying on for the 9/2 Canada cruise.

Looking forward to chatting with everyone!
