August 25, 2012 Magic in NYC!!!!

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

We are also booked on the Aug. 25 sailing.
I just finished heading up the 2 groups of people that sailed on our B2B cruise in April.

Talk to you all soon...

Toms River, NJ in the house. Me, DW, DD(11)(12 at time of sailing)

We are just back from a B2B on the Dream. We like the old ships in comparison to the new one.

Celebrating my 40th onboard the 27th. Yeah....

Is there already someone heading the FE lists, and the Yankee Trader lists?
I volunteer if we are all ok with that.

Rantn...... Isn't that something that we are sailing together. Leeann would love that. She will have to call.

BTW... I had created a FB page for the cruise. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_180970881950823&ap=1

Looks like a lot of kids around the same age in Ocean Quest sailing together:cool1: My DD will be 13 at time of sailing.

My family and I will be on this cruise. We originally had an eastern booked but it made sense to change it to the NYC itinerary since we live in NJ and wouldn't need airfare. Anyways, it will be me, DH and our 2 DD's Taytem will be 14 at time of sailing and Payton will be 11. Can't wait! And we will do the fish extender too!

Welcome:cool1:

We too switched from the Eastern Carribean on the Fantasy. It was a little bit cheaper and you got an extra day on the ship and no airfare, so that saved us about $1500. We are a little sad that we will have not cruised yet on the Dream or the Fantasy, but we'll get over it. We love the Magic.

:flower3:

Hello TECHJPM & JustineMarie. Welcome!

Had my first stress-related cruise dream last night. They gave us the wrong cabin, and we ended up with an inside cabin. Not quite a nightmare, but upsetting none-the-less ;).

P.S. Yes, what is Yankee Trader?

Hello,

We are certainly not local being from Northern England and plan on spending a couple of nights in NYC pre cruise. We're quite excited but we need to do our sums!!!!

:wizard:Welcome!!!!!

As we seem to be one of the none locals crusing, coukld someone give me an idea of the weather in New York when we cruise? Am also wondering what the weather will be like while cruising?
Another thing I am pondering is we are on main dining but we think we might prefer later dining. The cruise we just did we had 5.45 dinner and felt it was such a rush getting back from excursions and having to get ready in time for dinner. But with this cruise there will only be Castaway Cay and Nassau day to worry about I think so do we stick or switch?
I worry too much sometimes!!!!!
Is good to know that there will be other children around DD age, was reading posts about the older ones and thinking where the younger ones!!!! I'm hoping our DD will remember the kids club and love it just as much as she did this past cruise.
While I'm thinking about it anyone know of any nice hotels in NYC? And things to do with little ones? We've been for a short break a few years ago but that was adult only and now wondering what things are there for kids.
Sorry to go on but if I don't write it I'll forget to ask another time!
Thanks

I will try to answer as many of your questions as I can. The weather in the NY area at the end of August is normally in the high 80's/90's (fareniheigt)...it's been known to be warmer, it's hard to tall over a year out. I would think the entire eastern seaboard would be similar as far as weather at that time of year.

We did early seating on our first DCL cruise and we were always back in time while in the Caribbean. OUr last cruise was in the Med and our next is Alaska, so we're doing a late dinner so excursions aren't a problem. Either way, I'm sure will be fine.

There's many nice hotels in NYC and some can be quite pricey. If you want to stick with the "known" chain hotels, there's the Marriott Marquis (it has a revolving restaurant up top that used to have one of the best Sunday brunches in town - it's been a while so I can't comment as to now.), there's the Hilton, or if you really want to treat yourself you can stay at the Plaza or Waldorf Astoria.

There's lots to do with kids. In Central park there is a zoo and they used to change the Wolman ice skating rink into a small amusement park in the summer. There is FAO Schwartz, which is a giant toy store, and lots to play with while there, a huge toys r us in Times Square with a ferris wheel. There's Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum there too. You can take them to see Rockefeller Center, and there's a big Disney Store on 5th Avenue in that vicinity. There's some cool restaurants they may like, Space 1999 and Jekyl/Hyde's.

That's just my mind dump for now...I'm sure I'll come up with more.

How did your daughter like the kids club??? We recently went on Norweigan Cruise line and my 2 1/2 yr old DD wouldn't have any part of it...she will be 4 when we cruise next year so hoping that's a good age for the club. We brought our older DD on DCL when she was 5 so that was a perfect age... is 4 a good age???
