So far the KLM Flying Blue code with National, combined with a coupon from the Entertainment Book, is giving me the best price for our dates on an SUV. Have you tried running your dates using that code, and if so, what are you coming up with so far?

Go to Dollar's website and select "Specials" you'll find a link that says "SUVs for $33.95 per day" (I think that's the price). Click on it and enter your dates. It comes up to $432 all in for your dates of 8/4-8/15.
Hi. I think I have read that with National if you reserve a mid-size car, when you pick up your car you are free to choose a mid-size car OR a standard car OR a full size car. Its the same price no matter which you drive off with.
Is this also true with SUV's with National? If you reserve a mid-size SUV, are you free to take a standard SUV OR a full size SUV?
That's strange. I did MCO to ORLR02 with National and did not show a drop off rate. Maybe a Canadian thing? Also, if I shorten the trip by one day it drops the rate dramatically to $255 including taxes on a full size. This is without any coupon codes, etc., so theoretically you could get it cheaper.
I keep trying to get a decent rate as well for our trip and trying all sorts of variables. Fingers crossed we all get some good deals soon.
Follow Robinb's advice. Priceline, but wait until youre within ten days, maybe less of your trip. Weve done aug twice and july once and never paid more than 20 per day on average. Drop and pu at mco always.

My rates are dropping!
Dollar dropped over a hundred dollars over night. Others should follow soon. Still too high for me to book but they are going in the right direction
Finally got to a price I'm willing to live with - Alamo 12 days end of Aug $418.- ($35 day) did standard because it was same price as mid-size. Hoping it comes down more - that's still a bit higher than previous years - usually get $20 - $30 per day.
Insiders discount with VISA $30 off.
You might want to try your res without the BJs code.
I had a full size booked through Dollar using a BJ's code. My dates are 8/27-9/1. Base rate was $195 and total prince was about $262 with taxes and fees.
I just decided to take out the BJs code and see what the price was...and it was lower. I modified my res and my new total, with taxes & fees, is $157!
Finally found a better deal for tampa. August 15 to 24- full size with Sixt is 216 total. Still holding onto my National Ressie for 310 as a backup. Not sure how I feel about offsite and this company.
