august 2013 codes for rental cars?

It seems like Fox or Sixt always have the lowest price for my dates. Has anyone had any experience with them?

What are your dates? And what rates have you got so far?

I have always found that the prices from many of the major companies (Alamo, Budget, National, etc.) all go down enough that they meet or beat the Fox or Sixt rates by the time the travel dates grow closer.

So far, the National KLM code is our best price for August. Just got it down to $245 taxes in for 8 days with the code plus a $30 coupon from the Entertainment Book.

It shows $524 for a full size 14 day rental. Last year we got Alamo for $293 I think, for 14 days. Ended up with a Jeep Patriot!

I will bet your boots that you'll see Alamo's rates decline substantially about 4-6 weeks out. But I totally get that the watching and waiting is painful!! popcorn::

Have you run your dates with the KLM code? I'm sure you have, but just in case....it might be worth giving a whirl.

Have you tried using the KLM code on National's site? We are renting for a few hours shy of 14 days, and so far I have a ressie with National for $408.94. I signed up DH on the KLM site (to ensure that the code is legit for us to use), and signed up for the Emerald Club, used the KLM code, and a BJ's code for $30 off (we are members). While I am okay with the price of the ressie so far, I do hope to be able to secure a rental for under $300.

Hello, traveling to Disney Aug 4-15. This is the first year we rent a car at Disney. Any suggestions?? Where do I start?

Thanks

So far, best rate for my dates has been the KLM Flying Blue discount with National. You can find all the details in this thread:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2878667

Another Diser has also shared the code xz53043 for a discount with National, which seems to be offering some favourable rates for others. That code info is found near the end of the thread linked above.

I am now patiently waiting (well, maybe not so patient :hyper:) for Alamo's rates to hopefully plummet once we are about six weeks out from our travel date, as they historically do. I am happy to cancel my existing reservation and rebook elsewhere for the right price!

Rates were down with Dollar today. When I checked over the weekend the cheapest 2 day rental I could get with Avis was $160. Today I got a compact for $95 with Dollar using the AAA discount. You need to enter your AAA office code to get the discount. The link is right on their home page. $95 is still higher then I'd like for 2 days but that's picking up at MCO & dropping off at PC. Still hoping prices will continue dropping & I can find something even cheaper.

Last year Alamo gave me the best rate I came across with $293 (14 day rental) all fees in at exactly 4 weeks in advance of when I needed it. That was with the Insiders discount and double free upgrade from a midsize to a fullsize vehicle. :surfweb: So I'll just hang out until then to firm anything up.

What month did you travel if you don't mind me asking?

Not sure if it can help anyone but I just booked August 2nd thru August 13th for our trip and booked at 290 total for standard car. I had a coupon code CHEP which took 10%off thru Thrifty I will keep checking but that is the best I have found after searching non stop last month comparing companies with discount codes even going thru my BJ membership this was still the cheapest. I am sure it will drop more but not bad 2 months out.

All this advice has been great. Have joined many of you waiting to see if price drops. Have tried all the codes provided the best I have found so far is using Costoc membership.

$154 for Aug 1- Aug 5 standard with free upgrade (if available)

I would go down one category but am afraid their won't be any upgrades available.

I have added checking car rental rates to my daily routine, sadly!

I tried this code for our vacay (the 6th thru the 19th = 13 days), and it quoted me $452 for a standard. :confused3 Just out of curiosity, I changed my length of stay to 11 days (like yours), and the quote was $385 for a standard. How are you getting a quote under $300? I am picking up and dropping off at MCO ~ perhaps you are not ? I have never rented with Thrifty. Are they on property (at MCO) and how are the cars?

I am renting out of my hometown in Charlotte North Carolina. So that probably makes a big difference. Anytime you get from a airport it is normally 100 or so more. Wish I could help more.

Oh and I'm 12 days. Maybe it would be cheaper if you could rent for the whole 14 days as by the week it's cheaper than a daily rate for the 6 days
