august 2013 codes for rental cars?

We used Priceline in February and I believe we ended up at right around 200 for 9 days for a fullsize with Budget. I am hoping to secure something before then, but it's nice to have something in my back pocket if the need arises.

Try the contract code: xz53043- National Car. Reasonable prices for cars, mini vans are quite a bit more expensive. Join Emerald Club, it is free.

The code didn't work for me, I assume you need to have the emerald club as well to use it. I plan to try priceline, but with the price of advantage I am not sure that we will save that much more because the name your own price always has much higher taxes and fees.

It depends I guess. My rate was including taxes and fees and was much lower than the going rate on the car rental websites. I had been checking for months as well. Just make to check your total cost before you accept the terms.

I just looked at National. In order to join Emerald Club they want my credit card information which I am not liking. Alamo Insiders doesn't require anything except some personal information. Since I typically book/cancel/rebook several times I don't like to provide credit card info. Also, the code above is a company code.....don't they check to see if you actually work at this company?

no they don't check to see if you actually work at any company. Your credit card info. is secure and they don't charge your card to make reservations, they only charge it at the end of the rental. If you don't like to provide it, which is understandable, then don't join. :)

no, you don't have to be an EC member to use the code. Why did it not work for you? Did you put that code in the box for codes?

not sure why it didn't work, you seemed to think it should work, so I just tried it again and it worked this time. Came out to $75 more than the advantage price. It came out to pretty much the exact same price as coporate id's I found for hertz and budget. I think I am going to put in a reservation with advantage and then it gives me 5 months to get a better deal through a coupon with advantage, priceline;s name your own price, etc.

I just tried that code for my dates - Aug. 28-Sept. 2, and it worked for me. Try again and see what happens.

Havent read thru yet but I use Vroom Vroom Code 299851 from Alamo..I have been using it for almost 3 yrs now!

This is a contract code....not a coupon or product code. Aren't you supposed to work with the company? Also, don't they check? I would hate to arrive only to have the code deemed invalid and have to pay twice the price!

Does this require any kind of membership or employment with a specific company? Right now this is the cheapest rate I'm getting for my July trip.

Thanks!

Hi. My family of 5 (me, wife, ds16, dd8, ds5) is staying offsite near the World from Aug. 22 - Sept. 3, flying into MCO. This will be my first time ever renting a car! I figure we need an SUV.

I want to get a good rate, so I turned to this thread. Oh my goodness! So many codes and so many messages of "this code worked for me" and then "this code didn't work for me" and I joined this club and that club. Its making my head spin!:upsidedow

I am willing to work hard to get a good rate, however I've never done this before and I really have no idea how or where to start.

Everyone seems so helpful. Can anyone help me?? Please help!! :goodvibes

oops????? I just got a name your own price deal for Sept. I thought I was really lowballing them but it got accepted. I got a minivan for 2 weeks for $26 a day ($495) all taxes in. Kicking myself now wondering whether I could have got cheaper. The lowest listed price was advantage for $608. National who took my deal was $1371, so savings of almost $900 off their rates. I think I could have got it for less, but I guess the question is how much less, less than $250 a week including all taxes is pretty ridiculously cheap.

We are going from Aug 19-30. I have a mid size SuV on hold with National for $360 with the KLM code and a $30 off coupon. i just put the same codes in again and the price went up to $424! What's going on???

I am wondering if inventory is getting lower, driving the price up on the remaining stock.

I originally made a National ressie using the KLM code, then about a month later, I re-ran the dates and the price was lower  . So I rebooked with the lower rate and cancelled the original booking.

I ran my dates again today (slow day at work....don't tell my boss ;) ) and the price is now higher. So it seems there is some fluctuation.

I was wondering if it was about supply... hmmm..

Any other good codes out there?

The KLM Flying Blue discount has been the best one so far for us (with the exception of the Vroom Vroom code, which I am afraid to use) but we are seeking either an SUV (our first choice) or a mini van. Those looking for cars might have had better luck with other discounts.

I still haven't see anything I am willing to book..with or without codes. There's still time though. It usually starts dropping around the 6 week out mark in my experience, and there is always Priceline if I can't find something before then.:)

I've had a mini-van reserved for our upcoming 8/22-9/2 trip with National via the KLM code & Visa coupon code at $449 for about 2 months now...still havent come across anything that beats that yet. The Alamo Vroom-Vroom came close, but couldnt quite beat it.
