More daydreaming about our trip next year ...

We're planning to spend 2/3 days at Disneyland/DCA before moving to the Holiday Inn San Pedro the day before the cruise. Any hotel recommendations in the area of Disneyland other than the "on-site" ones. The cost of staying there (after exchange) will use up a high percentage of my onboard bar budget!:teeth:

We haven't decided whether to rent a car in California or not, so something that may have a shuttle is a "nice-to-have" option.

Thanks for your help!

Arlene
Arlene,
Just about anything in Anaheim should be good - most of them have or are near an ART stop (Anaheim Resort Transportation) - and quite a few Anaheim hotels are actually within walking distance of DLR (much different than WDW).

"Any hotel recommendations in the area of Disneyland other than the "on-site" ones."

I highly recommend the Best Western Park Place Inn. It is directly across the street from the Main Entrance to the parks (at most a 5 minute walk). Even though I live 40 minutes from Disneyland, we stay there several times a year. Ask for a room near the pool, so you are not too far back from the street.

Try this site for a list of local hotels:

Here is a (rough) map of the hotels:

Hi Arlene,

I have a few Hotels that I like in the Anaheim area. Even though I know you said off site, I'll still mention my favorite on site property is the Paradise Pier. They just remodeled the rooms. I got to tour them a few weeks ago and they are really nice. My favorite view at that hotel is upper level theme park view. Which gives a spectacular view of DCA. If you are gonna stay off site my favorite is the Coast Anaheim Hotel. It faces the back side of DCA. And you can request view of the park. It's a moderate priced hotel on the ART. I also like the Marriott Suites. It opened a couple of years ago as well as the Embassy Suites Anaheim South. The Embassy, Marriott, Hyatt, Crowne Plaza, Residence Anaheim Resort, and a few others are all in a good resort area. They have lots of restaurants and a Target pretty much across the street. I really don't care for any of the Hotels at are "right" across the street from the Resort. They are more on the "motel" style. Outside corridors. But if I'd have to pick one over in that area, it would be, the Tropicana, they just completely remodeled it.
Okay, I've rambled on long enough. I hope this helps.
And I'll put a disclaimer " this is only my opinion, not the opinion of the Disney Company" :earseek:

Sooz :flower:

Wow, I go away for the weekend to visit friends that we met on our previous cruise and come back to being 5 pages behind! Have to find time in between work so I can catch up.

Thanks for the info on hotels around DL . We are coming out on the 18th and DH wants to spend the day on the 19th at DL. But like a lot of people we would prefer to spend less on the room and save for the actual trip. Silver you know.

Yesterday was hot (91) and humid. Not pleasant. Today is much nicer with a breeze and not much himidity. So will be outside. By the time I come back there will be at least two more pages. I'm glad I got here early. I don't have to read the whole thing. Estelle :earsgirl:

Nope still here.
DD has hockey camp this week so up at 6:45 to drive her there, watch a bit and home to do some stuff around the house.
Hint for any DIYers. Don't remove a toilet that has one of those blue puck things in the toilet tank. Sheesh that stuff stains and what a mess!! Did that yesterday and looked like a fricking smurf by the time I'd finished :)

Changes made to the list.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Grumbo

Blue, blue, his arms are blue!
Blue are his arms since he fished in the goo!
Red, red, his face is red!
Red is his face as he faces his dread!
When they met, all his dreams came true -
A sweet smelling John and a ocean of blue -

(And that's just the beginning!)

Small world!

What's to do in Indy for 11 days, by the way??????

As you can see from my posts. I'm back.
That's the first warning.

It goes along with the other warnings about the shrimp, orange-mango soup and Stateroom 5622. Everything else is game, folks!

I think we need to warn the Embarkation Dining Servers that we are the CHAMPIONS and they must provide us with our own bowl of shrimp on ice! And of course, don't forget the rum for the orange/mango soup - the infamous "Mango Tango"!

I am getting pretty psyched up on this one!!!

Rae

YEAH RAES' BACK!!!!!!

Rae, LOL over Blue He's Blue. Even sang it, no one's home, can you tell...

Estelle :jumping1:

You gonna share that mango/tango this time, Rae?

Ok Rae............... gotta calm down........... take a deep breath.......... hold it...... hold it..... ok.....

Better now?

Talk about a small world......... I went to school about an hour and half north of you, in Culver. Of course........ that was quite a few years ago.

Great poetry.......... I wonder if Grumbo will still look like a smurf next August?

I noticed a few weeks ago that the other 14 day cruise had sorta picked a theme for their cruise. Last I read they were going to do a pirate thing.

I think we need a theme. We are a more intellectual group, with a lot more culture. You can tell by the depth of some our postings!!

So I propose we go with a classical theme...even found a painting to go with it!! I think our group's theme ought to be
