What are the POINTS you use to go to the DL Hotel??

We are going in November and the points were normally 31 per night. With the new point system they are 23. This is for the weekend too! If you figure a weekend stay @ 23 per night that is less points than a DVC studio

Apparently DVC lowered the amount of points we need to stay at the hotel.

But I'll stick to GC especially since I don't have enough points left!LOL

Pam - Lori (tinkerbel129) is my bestest Disney friend!! She will be traveling with her DH Walt and their DS Dean (18). Maybe Dean and Joy can hang-out together!

Lori hasn't been on the boards for a while, but since we talk on the phone at least once a week I'll let her know that you, Allan & Joy are going to be her neighbors on the ship.

FYI - You and she are right above Grumbo!!

Nancy, please give our best to Lori and tell her we are looking forward to being neighbours! If Dean and Joy hang out, maybe we can go home daughterless!!!! I've actually looked at the photograph of Dean and thought what a handsome young man he is!

We must try to be very quiet in our rooms so as not to disturb Grumbo. When I am on my balcony at 6.00 a.m. every morning, I'll try not to sing too loudly if Lori's party can promise not to play their trumpet!!

Joyce - Disney Vacation Club is Disney's own timeshare company - they own a number of properties in Orlando on property (Old Key West being the one we're part of) plus space in the main hotels as well (Boardwalk, Sarasota Springs, Yacht & Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge) as well as property at Hilton Head and Vero Beach. These provide a big mix from studio to grand villa. DVC also swaps into the Disney properties all over the world and into Disney Cruise as well as into some really top notch resorts and hotels. Also provides discounts on many park related activities (such as eating in some areas) but not entry prices.

You will find a fair number of the Fools are DVC members - it's been a really worth while investment - PamPat, DD and I are using our DVC points to swap into Disneyland Hotel at the start of the Fools saga and then staying at Old Key West at the end of the cruise.

We've been members for around 10 years and had some absolutely great times both in Disney, on 3 DCL cruises, and in fabulous places like the Arizona Biltmore, and the Boston Harbor Hotel.

You will almost certainly find a DVC sales desk on the cruise - but it's not a hardsell timeshare - it sells itself if you're at all interested. Essentially you buy a share of a condominium which floats - as opposed to traditional timeshare when you buy a fixed period in a fixed category. So cost is determined by time of year and by size of accomodation and is charged against your points. You can borrow or bank points as well.

Susan could you also pm me when the money order arrives? Please, I am never sure of the post office. They do occasionally mix up. Had a Disney pin that I bought on line disappear. Luckily the seller had another one and we had insurance on the original pin.

Pam loved the joke. Had to actually say outloud to get it. Luckily I was home alone and could then laugh loudly.

This afternoon is reserved for discussion of what we are doing as far as excursions go. DH says I have to lead them because I have learned so much from the "Fools". He did not say exactly what he thinks I have learned and I am not about to give anything away. He wants to learn he can just read the WHOLE thread.

Renee, someone said they were using the one they got with their cell phone, but I don't know how that would work beings how that is a mike and ear piece in one plug. I have a set of headphones for my CD player that I can plug into mu laptop, and there is a jack for a mike. I have a mike somewhere, I think................. If all else fails, you can always ask the kids at circuit city, they seem to be pretty knowlegable.

I answered a similar question a few pages back. I am not using a headset, but rather the speakers and microphone that came with my computer. Works fine that way!

Sorry I don't have any recommendations on a headset if you decide to go that route.

Hi Guys,

Just dropping by to say hello from Florida. My mom and I went to visit with Shirley at The Perfect Gift this morning. Shirley said to say HI to all her DIS Family!!!

I got to see the Magic in all her splendor as we were driving from 528 to A1A. We spent the night last night at my cousin's house on Merritt Island, then had breakfast at Zachary's next to the Radisson(what a meal!!!) When we got to Shirley's I had my mom go in first and I snuck in behind her. Shirley had no idea that I was even in Florida, let alone Cape Canaveral. It was worth it to see the look of shock on her face. Shirley is such a sweetheart. We had a real nice visit with Shirley and Norm, and I took some photos of the two of them for Mark(Mark & Sandra). So Mark, when I get home sometime on Monday, I'll get the photos loaded into my computer and send you the photos on a CD. Shirley didn't want her picture taken, but I got three of them for you.

Time to go and check some more messages, my mom and I will be leaving here bright and early Sunday morning for our drive to NJ.
