Yeah!
The six months to go anniversary    Hooray! I can't believe it. Now I am REALLY getting excited :dancer:

Thought the aerial photos were great.

Shame on those Floridians flaunting there sunshine :sunny:. Just wait our spring :rose: :rose: is right around the corner! You can have the heat & humidity :sunny:. I need the four seasons to keep me oriented!

Hope you all are having a good "President's Day". Off to my little two hour class tonight at the Community College. Have a great week. Toodles  :genie: JEANNE

I found my house! (Using the TerraServer site.)
Found mine too, and the hilarious thing is that they are using the exact same imagery that we use at work! I know that imagery by heart....it was paid for by the Denver regional council of governments, i.e. all the local cities in the area and a bunch of businesses too. Everybody throwing money in the same pot made it possible to share some really nice aerial imagery.

Allan--

I love the video of the polar bear! Animals are the one saving grace in this world. :) And, I have to agree, I think I may be a bit "down" when I have to get off the Magic too. We always joke that when the Magic leaves Castaway Cay the PCDS (Post Cruise Depression Syndrome) sets in. :rotfl:

Jeanne--

Believe it or not, I miss the seasons! Everything shouldn't be green all year long. :sad2: What class are you taking at the college, if you don't mind me asking? (Fools are allowed to be nosey, right? ;) )

Jeez, KMiles...you just try to lift their spirits a little and they jump all over you (about 80 over here today, too!). I love it when they use the "I love the four seasons" excuse. Keeps her oriented...yea, she's up north where its cold and we're down south where its warm!

Tracy - thanks for the Terraserver link - I'd forgotten about this - trouble is you Yanks have kept it to yourselves so can't find locations on this side of the pond - never mind it's given me a pleasant 30 minutes of "Where's Waldo" as I hunted around some of the Disney destinations such as Port Canaveral.

Also concentrated on the swimming pools at DL and DCA in your link - but couldn't tell whether they were boys or girls there - wasn't clear whether they were wearing speedos or bikini bottoms

Allan

and talking about Spring - it's been cold but bright here today - and the daffodils are coming out all over - in the spring our main colour is yellow with daffs and gorse and in the late summer / autumn we go pink / purple with loads of fuchsia all over the island. :flower:

But we love the constant change in the seasons - as we drive into work we see the sea - some days we can see the English lake district bathed in sunshine, other days it's a faint blur, and other days we see nothing but the local bay and harbour. The trouble is the sea can get quite rough, especially at this time of year - and unfortunately we kind of depend on it for food and newspapers etc etc. So yesterday when Pampat and I went shopping at the supermarket, they had a sign up apologising for shortages on the shelf 'cos one of the boats hadn't made it in. :confused3

The up side to all this island living is that it's less than 15 minutes to work and when it's rush hour in the evening, it takes us only two or three minutes longer to get home. :moped:

When we go to bed at night we often look out our bedroom window at the sea and the lights of one of the holiday towns just down the coast.

Can't be bad, eh?

Allan

I don't just get depression, I get the howling, sobbing and downright heartbreak. I'm a wreck leaving those ships. I really don't know what comes over me, I'm a cool headed Brit, but the thought of leaving that safe cocoon just devastates me. Heaven only knows what I'll be like after a fortnight on board. Have your hankies ready when you see me disembark!

My thoughts exactly! Just trying to help 'em out a bit. :confused3

Well Jason and Bob :)
The beautiful weather you have right now is great and I could use that.
However I don't worry about losing the roof of my home to hurricanes that crisscross the peninsula of land known as Florida. I think after tourism, the biggest business down there is pest control. The bugs and critters need to be sprayed incessantly to prevent your home becoming a roach motel ;)
The winter sucks I agree, but the spring, summer and fall are wonderful and we actually have grass on our lawns you can walk on with no shoes, as opposed to the crabgrass stuff you guys call a lawn that will cut your feet just walking on it :)
I guess its what you're used to but I don't think I could take the hot weather all the time. I DO like the seasons, and wish I had the money to be able to afford a place down there for frequent sunshine respites, but don't think thats going to happen. I'll settle for my vacations I guess :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

I know, I know--we don't have the 4 seasons here, and summer can be brutal w/ the humidity (better for the skin though--more moisture=less wrinkles!!!).
With that being said----I'd better go tend to the lovely bronze tan I received today while frolicking in the pool (all the while listening to the gentle breeze blowing through the lovely palm trees........... :rotfl2: )!!!

What to do, what to do tomorrow???? Oh I know---enjoy the warm winter day.......or spend a few hours at WDW.............or BOTH. :rotfl:

:cat:

I also prefer living with 4 seasons. Two reasons stick in my mind. We lived in Texas for a year or so. There is just something wrong when your Super Bowl guests arrive to watch the game in shorts and tshirts. And you can't grow Lilacs in the south. I wouldn't give up my Lilacs for anything.

Dudette 1 I got your pm and I think I understand the directions. Thanks for sending them to me.

We have one of those yucky nights. Snow on the ground and a misty rain falling.
Allan, your island sounds super. I love the ocean especially to just sit and watch it. And I don't care what kind of weather.

Estelle :flower1:
